Welcome to EMR, where each week I do my best to save a mini. Whether I take to eBay and try and find a fantastic deal, or someone sends me a neglected piece of their collection for me to save. My goal is to save them all, one mini at a time. I try and show you new products and techniques that will help you in your hobby, and bring attention to the things, and people, that help make this community worth belonging to. Our motto here at EMR is very straight forward. PAINT.FAIL.LEARN.REPEAT. Because by failing repeatedly, we can all improve, learning from our mistakes pushes us to new heights, and without them, we would always remain the same. So embrace your failures, rescue some minis, and join me on another eBay Miniature Rescue!
I'm going to be completely real, I thought majority of Warhammer players just did it as a collectible thing for cool minis, kinda like Pokemon. I had no idea that people actually did it to play the game as legit as possible
Yeah, no problem. The printer I use was sent to me by Uniformation as part of a sponsored segment in several videos/ It generally retails for something like $800 when it's not on sale. There are links in the description if you want to look at it, as well as a discount code. They are also on Amazon. I've done videos on other printers, but this one has been the best one I've owned. If you want to really get the details on a huge variety of 3D printers, check out Uncle Jesse, Vogman, or Fauxhammer. Those guys know what's what with 3D printers! I hope that helps :)
Really nice to see you doing some batch basing on film. Your paint jobs are so fab it's good to see the "slog work" every now and again 😂 Touching up the Ork went great, beautiful outcome 👌
Honestly, this is about average for Summertime. I'm also not saying anything outrageous so people come by, enjoy, and go about their day. That's cool with me :) I do appreciate that you are commenting, it definitely helps!
The freehand on that Ork Nob model is super nice, especially for the time period. Thanks for not stripping out these old models and saving a bit of the hobby history.
You might want to repost this with Troll Hag in the description? Give people a fair warning it's a repeat, but it won't show up if people search for that and I'd guess more people will be buying it for Orcs and Goblins going forward. I think a lot of folk would find it helpful.
I love these old orks much more than the new ones, they have like.. I dunno, more character? they look less... its hard to say, there's just something off with the current orks, they're too much... something
I love that nob biker set. I painted one them up a few months back along with the original biker the old ork sleazy rider mini. I still have a bunch of those ork dreds one complete with all the sections but I ended up with 3 incomplete without the extended extra arm ring part so I made them into killa kans squad over a deff dread.
So I know you've gone out of your way with a lot of paint schemes to do a version that's a glow up of the original even if you had to strip that mini back to bare plastic/metal, why not do that for at least one model from your original fire dragon color scheme with a sort of black and steel "tacticool" look with some bright gold bling? Also if they were rangers it might have been worth it to try and save the guy half covered in half a bottle of green paint by turning that into an Eldar camo(phase?) cloak maybe with the bright blue electricity edge highlights you sometimes see for the half painted Tau units done over clear resin.
I've never really liked Orks, but that guy with the captain's hat and giant grin is effing delightful! And as always, you're thoughtful kindness makes this video a really nice way to start the day. Thank you!
I know the outline of that pixelated thumbnail. I'm looking at his black primed and green skin base-coat silhouette right now as he stares back at me... accusingly. I'm gonna run him as my Blood Axe _"Commie-Czar"._ He'll be the first model removed from the mob as a casualty in every game, as the other boyz don't like him that much. Love the camo on the lad's trousers.
Very nice, always a good idea to try and keep your non-primary side keen wherever possible. I had an issue with my right food that kept me from boxing normally for a while. so I switched to a left handed stance so i wouldn't skip practice and it made me a good switch hitter.
Argh, I hate drilling and pinning metal minis, because even with a new drill bit? It takes FOREVER and my hands cramp and hurt in short order. I agree, these old school Ork models have a unique aesthetic of their own, but I can't afford to drop beaucoup bucks on them, sadly. What's your opinion on these vs. the current sculpts?
Yeah a rotory tool on a very low speed and light pressure (so you don't break the bit either) will make this type of job very easy... plus you can hollow out gun barrels, exhaust pipes, make bullet holes/cannon holes (depends on bit size). Warning though if you drill on plastic with this tool use the slowest setting possible and be very gentile youll get great results every time. Oh and those big minis both metal and plastic are way easier to work on to....drilling cutting grinding cant recommend a good rotory tool and set of bits enough
I probably need to switch to a powered drill, cause yeah it sucks doing a whole bunch of pinning in the same day. I do have a dremel.. Honestly I like the older ones for their character, nothing will take that away, but I’m also a fan of the new ones. We are getting some great minis in the new lines and I can’t hate them. Orks are just too good!
Yeah, there’s a ton of mirror universe stuff right now for an event, but the characters you pick up and talk to are from all eras, it’s pretty neat to see all the generations in one place.
Ehh, personally I think clipping the tabs is like cutting an umbilical cord. And since I'm not using slotta bases nor do I intend to sell them on eBay, I see absolutely no reason to not clip the tabs.
Always good to see older models renewed! :) great work! 💪 Have you ever considered looking for some Middle-earth models? The originals came out in 2001! It’s been a while and I know there’s loads on eBay which could be rescued
I have some sort of newer plastic stuff including a balrog that needs some help. I’m just waiting for that feeling to hit where I know it’s time to go for it!
