A fairly flat and uninteresting journey to be honest.Maybe a caption or two would have helped but overall a pleasant enough video.Cheers from the Grumpy old Spotter
about 10 years ago i took the train from Preston to Blackpool. the carriage was a very old 2 car unit (if i remember correctly) with an onboard diesel engine (was not electric). do you have any videos SHOWING that train stock? this sounds like it might be it but i definitely dont remember it moving that fast. lol.
Might be showing my age but here last time I was in King St it was a 47 and 3-5 coal waggons from Arpley or Walton old? (Warrington) Definately much improved since then, it was semi-derelict then and for many Years. Nice Video though.
Another nice video, I have never been on the line to Blackpool North, the last time I went bt train to Blackpool was from Southport in the 60’ and that was to the long now closed Central Station
Brilliant video, especially the low picture, you seem like you are flying along. The clarity is excellent as well without a dirty fly stained window obscuring the camera. Loved it.
Blackpool station at last looks a clean modern station with it's new electrifcation system installed? It took long enough ? Next the complicion of the waverly rought from Edingbourgh to Carlisle? They have this section started from Edingbourgh Waverly to to tweedmouth finished now finish it off to Carlisle ? Or what's the point? Or is just another waste of taxpayers money 💰 also a good divirinary if needed
I do hope a few pacers are spared could be ideal for branch lines heritage lines etc ? rough riding at times but ideal for certain routes? On the rail network why scrap ? just mothball some . For further use ? Rail buses reliable ? What's the problem?
Yeah, to the scumbag who nicked me J reg Avenger from Huyton in 1984 then reporting it nicked old bill were giving me a hard time wondering what a south London wideboy was doing on their patch, it was the kind chap in Ian Skelly's VW dealership who told me "Don't live here m8 if you can't take a joke..." and how people put up with that 'orrible pong from Crawfords, heck we had Tunnel Refineries over in Blackwall which was basically a place to render horses and cows and that place honked but Crawfords... man that took the lining off yer lungs :(
For someone of nerd~ish tendencies like me, that's an impressive introduction to a city. I mean Liverpool is big, but that labarynth of tunnels and gravity defying cuttings would have you believe you're coming into someplace *"B~I~G"!* Then again, I come from a place that is - in all honesty - a bit of a backwater. To the locals/habitués, It's all probably very _'meh'..!_ I'm probably the rube who's blocking the sidewalk gawping up at the skyscrapers. Still... Liverpool - Place has a whole plethora of road and rail tunnels under the 'harbour', not to mention, had it's own El _before_ Chi - town did! (I think.) And there's always the Beatles.
Love the cuttings ...but I wonder how many people died making them, in the bad old days when navvies were expendable... Were the other tracks being realigned ?
