Brilliant . Thank you for the upload. It is interesting that to get to the up line from platforms 1 & 2 of Blackpool North takes you almost to Devonshire Road bridge. So you could say the station throat starts there .
Excellent Paul, thanks very much for the share of this our most journeyed route and good to see the trains running again even if the replacement buses are still needed . Carelton Crossing/Layton nearest to us. Enjoyed the first class ride and view.
Another nice video, I have never been on the line to Blackpool North, the last time I went bt train to Blackpool was from Southport in the 60’ and that was to the long now closed Central Station
Brilliant video, especially the low picture, you seem like you are flying along. The clarity is excellent as well without a dirty fly stained window obscuring the camera. Loved it.
Excellent, so, where was the camera situated and how long did it take to gain permission for these clips. Have you seen my clips from 25 yrs ago at Croston and Heysham with 56s TheMichaelWilcock
about 10 years ago i took the train from Preston to Blackpool. the carriage was a very old 2 car unit (if i remember correctly) with an onboard diesel engine (was not electric). do you have any videos SHOWING that train stock? this sounds like it might be it but i definitely dont remember it moving that fast. lol.
I do hope a few pacers are spared could be ideal for branch lines heritage lines etc ? rough riding at times but ideal for certain routes? On the rail network why scrap ? just mothball some . For further use ? Rail buses reliable ? What's the problem?
Although I am 58 years old if I had my time again I would personally pay for training to be a Train Driver. The offer still stands by the way Gentlemen !
it normally takes several years of training before a driver is passed out for a route. it is not just a question of learning the route, he has to know it off by heart because every situation needs to be known in case of an emergency.
I second that question ? I used to ride this route for fun as a little boy in the 1970's whilst at Baines Grammar School. I wish I had applied to be a Train Driver rather than being pushed to be a glorious Ship's Navigating Officer which I later became.
70humdinger EMU are scheduled to start May 20th, a cascade process will then happen until the CL142 units are redundant and then scrapped. The old branch line at Poulton is the old Fleetwood docks branch, been closed as long as I can remember
The junction to Fleetwood at that point hadnt been used since around 1999 and was then relaid quite a few years ago. The new junction was never used and then was completely removed last year. There is a heritage railway that wants to run trains on the Fleetwood to Poulton le Fylde tracks but they will probably now require a third platform at Poulton le Fylde and a new link onto the main line would have to be built if necessary.
@@dpallant The realignment for high-speed running of the curved track through Poulton at the former junction means it's unlikely that points will be reinstated there: whatever happens, the former Fleetwood "branch" will have to remain isolated from the Preston-Bkackpool North line.
It also used to serve ICI at Burn Naze at Thornton. The Wyre Railway Preservation Society are hoping to reopen it as a heritage railway. They have aquired a class 118.
This year I'm travelling to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, and I think I'll go by train. But why do I not see the park in the video? Shouldn't it be at around 19:49?
GD Kulgan you need the Blackpool South line which is every hour from Preston to pleasure beach. Calling at kirkham and wesham, moss side, lytham, ansdel and fairheaven, st Anne's, star gate, pleasure beach and Blackpool South. The journey from Preston is approximately about 35mins. Sorry I carried away. I get this line too much as I'm in Blackpool Once a week for pleasure beach
Adz cant sing Thank you very much :) Since I'm German, I'm a little scared of travelling through a foreign country without orientation ;) So thanks for your answer
Just as a tip, you are probably better to take a train to Blackpool North and then a tram down to the Pleasure Beach. Blackpool North has a more frequent service than South!
This Driver appears to be slightly exceeding the speed limit in some stretches I hope I am incorrect. Can anybody tell me the difference between the Green Signals and the Gold Signals please. I know Red is stop and a Driver wouldn't want a SPAD (Signal Passed At Danger) in any case !
I doubt whether the driver is exceeding speed limits. More likely the lower camera angle gives a better perspective of the actual speed, which I quite like.
Blackpool station at last looks a clean modern station with it's new electrifcation system installed? It took long enough ? Next the complicion of the waverly rought from Edingbourgh to Carlisle? They have this section started from Edingbourgh Waverly to to tweedmouth finished now finish it off to Carlisle ? Or what's the point? Or is just another waste of taxpayers money 💰 also a good divirinary if needed
23:00 Look, I get Health & Safety stuff and know it's not the EU's fault nor will it go away when we may leave but more than a carriage length?! Jesus Christ when do we end up not running trains?
I think its actually to do with the catenary not being able to go right into the building, the buffers are further away so they can fit all the electrical equipment into it. Just a guess.
A fairly flat and uninteresting journey to be honest.Maybe a caption or two would have helped but overall a pleasant enough video.Cheers from the Grumpy old Spotter
So it easier and cheaper for people who live Over-Wyre, Thornton, Cleveleys, Fleetwood to use public transport, rather than going all the way to Blackpool. I prefer to get of at Layton, its more convenient for me.
