Anyone who thinks Rafa is a clay court specialist needs to have their head examined. Rafa won the French Open more than times than anyone has or ever will, but he could beat anyone on any surface, especially 2008-2009. Federer will always be considered one of three best players ever. We were all lucky to witness the greatest era in tennis history.
There is a reason I dont rate federer above djokovic and nadal as he plays the 4 sets with high tennis than chokes in the last set. Same happened in 2011 wimbledon against Tsonga, 2014 against djokovic and 2018 against kevin anderson
Nadal came with a gameplan whereas Federer did not! It is as simple as that! Nadal's plan was to HAMMER everything he has to Federer's Backhand, whereas Federer's plan was to just hit the ball back! This was quite painful to see!
Rafa was u human this whole turnoment.. Against verdasco in the semi final that whent 3-4 hours nadal won some points there he shouldn't have won! Same againt Roger here in the Final.. To bad he couldn't hold this level for so long as injuries started to show up forcing him to change his game
Man this match is such high level of tennis probably the best fedal match in terms of how high the level was , both could have had a fair shot vs prime djoker with this level in Melbourne

I remember this being such a disappointing match as a Federer fan because his first serve was NOT working later into the match. And Nadal's backhand was another level that night
Nobody seems to get that when he plays guys like Fed and Nole, b4 it even starts, Nadal is always behind or he spots them points cuz of serve. Fed gets freeby points off his serve. Nadal doesnt have that kind of luxury. Hes behind in the count so to speak. Spots his opponents. Like playing Jack in golf down a few strokes with 9 holes to go. Imagine if Rafa had an equal serve to Fed and Nole??! It would be no contest. Rafa has to play extra hard to win against them.
Djokovic lacks the shotmaking and variety that these 2 used to have. Their all court games are better than novaks. You can't just hit the ball back and be consistent in order to beat fedal in their primes at slams. Djokovic wins today because hes fitter and more consistent, but with fedals fitness at this time, its a whole other story. Funny thing is that you will never see nole fans commenting in these videos. You only find them primarily in videos from 2018-present, which is hilarious.
@@NamTran-xc2ip dude hes not beating this fedal with just being consistent. Both of them here can rally for days and push the pace. Djokovic would have to play ULTRA aggressive to beat these versions, which he doesn’t do anymore.

Whenever fedal loses, because Djokovic was better, just like when Djokovic loses, means fedal better than him, not because they are ‘injured’ or ‘old’ or whatever excuses you’re going to make. Djokovic is better than Federer more times but not yet Nadal.

As a fed fan, this match is a Heartbreaker. The level of tennis is insane and to top fed's performance in this match is an unreal feat. Just keep wishing Fed wasn't so tame with his BH - 2017 onwards there was an intent and venom hitherto unseen in his entire prime.
