i did this with tissue paper and craft paints when i was younger, i never could think of a more weatherproof version. the shrink wrap and stain is an amazing idea! is the plastic just like tarp? I'm wanting to buy some of whatever it is for future projects
spider looks great! love how the color isn't uniform, makes it look more organic. great idea with the heat gun to add flesh! is that just plastic bag you put on them?
If you had the pool noodles extend past the end of the cross beam on either side they would possibly fold or bend under the weight of the cloth and give a more rounded appearance? Maybe shorten the length of the cross piece to allow for that? I'm just spitballing here, not trying to armchair quarterback but since you said you wished they weren't so square I figured I might offer an idea. Edit: or maybe even round flexible dryer vent duct hose that could bend to give the rounded look rather than pool noodle - Awesome build though, I think I'm going to copy it, can't afford the Home Depot version
I looked up how to clean mine before selling and this is amazing. Anyone who sees this at once a bunch of these guys right here, including you, brother Mike, I have a plethora of these and rubber thumb wrestlers.
Hey Mike, What shade of yellow should I use For my LJN figures. I'm currently refurbishing my Killer Bees and I am having trouble matching the right shade. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
your skills are awesome I been watching L.T. wrestle bam bam bigelow and I really like L.T. wrestling gear and I see your action figure of L.T. and it looks like you got all the details perfect can you talk about how you made the L.T. action figure
I've always used a product called GOOF OFF. I'm not familiar with nail polish removal. BUT YEAH...don't use that shit on the paint. I accidentally scrapped a q-tip across my Hennan shirt signature. It's half gone now.
Great video and the figures look fantastic. Just wondered what people's take was on "restoring" figures? Some people prefer to keep it as original even if the paint has worn off. I think if you're as talented as Mike is here then surely its better to have it restored then looking worn and in bad shape.
Back in the late 90s these things were everywhere...yard sales, thrift stores, etc like 50 cents to a dollar each. I remember vividly seeing piles of them BUT in the late 90s I was in my late 20s and was focused on video game hunting. Since around 2010 I dont find these in the wild anymore. I don't know if resellers beat me to them or they just arent being put out anymore. I assume its possible Good Will throws beat up dirty toys away. 😢
I just got done cleaning 20+ figures and did it by trial and error. The easiest way to remove paint marks is with “goof off” in the aerosol spray can, and just barely spray it with just enough to soak the cotton swab then rub it on the mark with a little pressure. For the marks on paint swipe the marks lightly.
