How about YOLO Ryoma with Life and Death, Swordfaire, Vantage, Air Superiority and Quick Draw. He's quite a hard hitter both in Player and Enemy phrase.
I should add; the switch versions of the first 3 games are much more playable if you pick up a cheap tablet stylus. It's not as precise as the old DS stylus, but its a hell of a lot better than using the buttons or your fingers.
Honestly the series would probably have a lot more ridiculous builds like this if it didnt go out of its way to obscure 90% of the information about the skills you are trying to combine (like which Buffs stack, what the increases are etc.). All of that needs datamining to uncover.
My favorite off meta builds are Malig Knight Orochi!Rhajat (or Nyx!Rhajt if im playing rev) and General Subaki, he struggles with his speed, however, he's really bulky, I think that the knight line class just makes it truly shine, specially because there are no generals in BR (and rev are really late). I wonder if a Rinkah!Caeldori married to Corrin/Kana with a knight talent could be even better than genral Subaki
IMHO, magic being the best weapon in Fates is something that makes me go "huh?", mainly because Fates is not Awakening, which actually had good quality mages. Of course, that game did have Robin, so yeah, but even then, Henry and Ricken were still decent at worst. Contrast Fates, where except for Leo and Ophelia, the mage quality fell off a goddamn CLIFF. Nyx is a damn joke, Orochi ain't much better, and Hayato is more trouble than he is worth to get off the ground in Birthright without grinding (which also adversely affects his daughter, who has all his problems and more)! That said, Hayato is actually great in Revelation. And don't get me started on Odin or Izana. But I digress. As for Rinkah... like Subaki, I'm of the mind they intentionally made her a joke character. Why in the seven HELLS would they make the one natural Oni Savage this awful?!!? It's just plain aggravating. Her bases aren't great, her growths are wonky to her detriment (in particular that 20 base HP growth being a serious sore spot when the Oni Savage class is supposed to be a tank. And there are few things I despise more than someone who is meant for a specific role, but fails at it), and her start is utter dog (while she IS available before the branch of fate, she doesn't do well in either map, especially Chapter 5, which is the first Fates map that is really challenging). To quote this one diatribe on her and the Oni Savage class: "In what universe is it considered good game design to make the ONLY naturally occurring Oni Savage the complete antithesis of their starting class???" And this is made all the worse by her being the ONE axe unit you get in Birthright until Scarlet. It's also aggravating that she's so awful because she's one of the few Hoshidan characters that can actually take a hit (or would if she didn't have shit HP, which she does). And the fact she's the only natural Oni Savage also means that class's reputation goes down the toilet. Speaking of which... pretty much everything about Oni Savage and its associated classes comes off as though they didn’t put an iota of thought into it and churned it out just for some new class quota or something. None of the skills are good except Lancebreaker, which is a level 15 skill, and the promotions are bleh: Blacksmith is a ghetto Hero, and Oni Chieftain has tomes because WHY??? Oh, and much like Subaki, she can't afford to get screwed with how bad she starts relative to the competition.
I started out trying EOU, didn't like it very much, then tried EO4 on a whim and enjoyed it immensely. Then I went back and finished EOU, EO2U, and EO5. I still need to finish EO3 and beat the superboss of EON.
Hard disagree that Jakob is the most broken unit in all FE. He ain't even close to the best unit in his game, FFS! Also, he's one of the most dislikable characters in the whole damn series (at least, that isn't evil).
I came across this series on 3ds and really enjoyed the demos, to the point of emulating Etrian Odyssey Untold years later so I could experience the full game. Still didn't come close to finishing it. I have kind of given up on turn based RPGs since I have never finished a turn based RPG in my life(unless you count Pokemon.) This is one of the few I would consider coming back to to try and complete, if I believed I would in fact finish it.
"Most broken unit" Seth, Kagetsu, Byleth, Harken, Stefan, Haar, Rutger, Perceval, Melady, Ike who are all much better in their respective games than Jakob is in Fates: I get that Jakob is GOOD, but to call him the "most broken unit" in fire emblem when Seth even exists is just blatantly false information. Jakob needs investment to break the game in half, especially on the hardest difficulty, and is likely to fall off by the time you hit end game or potentially even the mid-game due to middling bases and, by Fates standards, bad growths. Yes, he can pass on great skills early.. NO, this does NOT make him some "amazingly broken, godly, giga chad unit." Hell, even if we stick to just Fates, Ryoma, Xander, Corrin, Camilla, and any singular child unit that has even a somewhat optimal pairing have better starts and will only grow to be even better than Jakob with time. If your best utility is granting skills to units that could already be amazing without them regardless, and then immediately falling off a cliff due to mediocre growths and frankly, bad bases, you're not exactly a "broken unit," are you. Dagger utility won't make up for this when he dies to just about any mid to late game enemy that can counter-attack, and you're probably reclassing him for different skills anyway.. which means, E weapon ranks. Meaning you're probably stuck at 1 range, which means you instantly die on counter attack. If a unit is "broken" they should singlehandedly carry a portion of the game, if not the entire game, based on the standards of OTHER broken units. Rutger, Perceval and Melady all hard carry fe6. Seth's mere existence is enough to carry fe8. Harken is insanely overpowered by the time you get him, comes with one of the best weapons in the game, and will likely one round anything you put him up against. Stefan for the point you get him is insanely overpowered. Haar's existence trivializes both games he's in. When Ike starts to snowball, he becomes by far one of your best combat units in both fe9, and fe10. Not to mention he starts off very strong in fe10. Jakob.. can grant skills, and die when you throw him against any enemy with competent stats. Jakob.. can fail to get meaningful stats upon leveling. Jakob.. can get one rounded by just about every single enemy with offensive stats past 15. Early replicate potential does NOT warrant a placement anywhere NEAR the likes of Seth. Early replicate potential doesn't even give him more utility than Ryoma, Xander, Camilla, and Corrin, because it's no good if its on either A. a unit that just dies, or B. a child unit that you had to waste time bringing a middling unit to obtain, instead of training any of the much better units in fates. Ryoma, at base, will double a large chunk of enemies even on the hardest difficulty, and will only further improve. Xander, while having some issues doubling at base, will be much better than any trained jakob at that point regardless, have better weapon ranks, and with similar investment we're giving Jakob CAN grow to a point of doubling and one rounding most enemies. Camilla literally rips the game in half given her strength relative to the enemies around the time you get her. And Corrin, being the corny avatar they are, is VERY difficult to make NOT godlike unless you go out of your way to use gimmick builds and MAKE them bad. TLDR: Jakob is not NEARLY as amazing as he's made out to be. Granting early good skills to child units means nothing if you're bringing what is essentially a liability with those horrid bases and mediocre at best growths. He's not BAD for his time period, but he falls off INSANELY hard, INSANELY fast. If he were "broken," that'd, put plain and simple, would never happen.
I normally went with Male Corrin back then whenever I played Birthright and Revelation. Felicia's the perfect pair up partner for Hayato. Plus, the height and age difference is adorable considering she wears heels. A lot of players generally went with female Corrin due to Jakob. I only went with female Corrin on Conquest since that route is on another level compared to the others.
Fire emblem, Etrian Odyssey, Ace Attorney, and a surprise mention at the end about Ghost Trick? This channel's like 80% of my favorite game series! Immaculate taste my brother
The tragedy goes even deeper... he had a second chance at success in rev, where heart seals are plentiful and there are very few early candidates for them, but for some reason the devs decided to delay his join time to just about match Ryoma Shura Leo Xander and Fuga... while keeping him in monk 😢
I did play Etrian Odyssey for the DS and altho its hard to get a grasp of the game i did had a blast with it and at least once every year and still love it
i hate how "you never played" became so much of a copypaste title nowadays, I did play ettrian and got my ass handed to me then I lost my savefile, thank you very much 🤣🤣
Hearing y'all talk about Life and Death reminds me: Is there ever a reason to use L&D on someone who is bulky if you don't intend to use them Defensively (like if you intentionally wanna go all-in on Offense), or would you be better off picking a character who is already built for High Offenses, Low Defenses?

I always keep Takumi benched cause his "I hate you Corrin" attitude annoys me. And I like making Setsuna good, oddly enough I have good luck getting good levels on supposedly bad characters and 50/50 luck with good characters
I remember when I tried to use her, I can honestly say that I'd rather XP farm for Donnel in Awakening. Cause off the bat in Awakening we have 2 reliable defense booster pair ups. And feeding him kills to recruit him is a little rough, but it's easier keeping him alive than it is keeping Mozu alive in Fates
5:19 Yo, WHAT!? I've sunk almost 70 hours into Etrian Oddyse 3 on PC and I've only played with a controller. Once you get used to it, it's not really that hard only to use the stick and the buttons for mapping.(thou it still has room for improvement)
I probably got a lucky Rinkah in my playthrough cause she was getting strength, speed, and defense almost every level up. So she got really good pretty fast for a physical unit. I made her an Oni Chieftain, but I haven't used her magic much cause the physical enemies couldn't do much to her without a killer weapon. Making a magic Corrin didn't work out for me cause he/she got magic screwed in both my attempts. Much like my Byleth, Corrin just wants to level HP, strength, and speed 9/10x. I'm sad how severely nerfed Byleth got compared to Robin and Corrin when trying to make the MC a magic class. Cause Byleth doesn't get any good spells, the upside is that he/she can reliably double with spells
Cannot get into this game. First person give me motion sickness and also i don't like to not see my character during battle. Definitely the only thing hold back is the first person view
I played the demo for EO4 back on the 3ds when it came out and I was immediately in love! I remember not really understanding how the mechanics worked but loving the map system. Now I love beating all the hardest bosses with strategy
its been 6 years since they put out the teaser for a "next generation" and nothing yet =( (btw im still mad the poison passive in eo1 doesnt work and has no high level scaling)
I haven’t watched much of the video yet but I wanted to get on my soapbox. I’m tired of fire emblem players saying growth units are bad. Growth units are enjoyable units to use and often become the most insanely overpowered units in your army to the point that they hard-carry. Base units’ ceiling is never as high and if you only use them your late game will be painful. By going through the challenge of nurturing growth units they pay off exponentially which is very rewarding and part of the fun of fire emblem. Everyone crapped on Donnel in awakening and Anna in engage until they realized: wait, not using these units actively makes my team less than optimal by the end.
My first game was Etrian Odyssey 1 DS when I was a kid, it was traumatic haha I loved these places so much and the little I understood using the translator xD My second game was EO4 3DS, I had trust issues on everything, in EO1 even a leaf could kill you lol
It would be fun to see a competition surrounding this. Maybe trying to see who could beat the game with these late game deployment units in the total fewest turns across all the main chapter maps. I personally would like to see if there is a way to incorporate dlc and castle grinding in a way that doesn't break the game, like maybe imposing a sort of level limit on your units or something like that as having access to more seals and weapons as well as being able train all units equally.
Beat rev iron man 3 stars, about 2 years ago. Haven’t really played fire emblem too much since and came back to play conquest iron man and wooooow I am very far away from remembering how to play this game at all! Going to iron man birthright first to try and get a handle of the game play again. Great video. Hope to see more like this.
