Just found your channel and subscribed. Love the fishing mixed with the duck hunting. Could you tell me the fly pattern (hook size and materials) you were using on this video? I'm heading your way on vacation and would like to tie up at least on fly that I know the reds would like.
Awesome! With hook sizes is varies really, but a #1 will work, that also varies depending on the type and brand. I mostly just use EP brush for the body and marabou feathers for the tail. I recommend stopping at NSB Outfitters if you do come this way. They have flies, and material and will talk to you.
Crazy you were whacking them like that the passed two days been a real struggle for my pops and i. Two reds one black drum one snook three specks one mangrove and like 5 damn puffer fish 😓 last winter we had 3 50+ fish days, this year in two weeks of fishing it produced less fish then just one day last winter.
I do at times, mallard call at times to get their attention or to keep ducks from landing far off. Also a pintail call can help turn pintails. I have a black belly call which works very well. I also use a widgeon call. Sometimes call in FL work, a lot of the times they don't do much.
Nice hunt. I am new to duck hunting in FL, and have a spot on a river that's not a park, doesn't have houses by it, and has a public access boat ramp. is it legal to hunt there. Thanks, keep up the content and you gained a subscriber.😎
Good ole blackpoint hunt! Love those lol. Looks like you guys had a better weekend than us. We got beat to our hole by some kayakers that skipped the line and dumped in off the road. We ended up getting 1 bluebill all morning…
@jw2625 that will happen, we dropped 2 baits in this gator, i had to splash it to get him excited, he picked one up, dropped it and grabbed the other one. Sometimes they act funny or just won't eat.
Sorry man, I should have been more specific, what lake? I have tags for Poinsett and enjoy watching videos like these to learn more as I am new to gator hunting.
@@jw2625 For everyplace I hunt I don't like to give out the exact location out of respect for the people who know and hunt and fish fish those places. Poinsett is a great permit location, it gives you a large area to hunt.
Great stuff man. I’m going to be in NSB in a few weeks, planning on hitting the Canaveral national seashore wading. Any tips or locations in the general area to have a chance at a red on fly would be great.
I would go to the Merrit Islands National Wildlife Refuge. There are some roads which will take you to the water so I'd study the map a little. Just look for banks that are out of the wind and not too muddy. Cover some ground
