When you cut the lower band off the sweatshirt to start with, could you possibly use that as your pattern for the measurement along the bottom for the band?
Hello Donna, yes you could definitely use the band for the pattern just make sure you stretch it out really flat and add any measurements you use for the extended placket front. Can't wait to see what you create. Happy sewing!

What size square would I need to start with if I want to make a 12 1/2 inch block (including 1/4 inch seam on all outer sides of last block) with a total of three squares (square in a square in a square)? I've used this method a few times, but I've never figured out the math for a particular finished size block. Thanks in advance for your help!
