I always thought Aks was because of Futrama. No one in the show says Ask. The more you learn

I said the Aussie "Naaaauuurrrrgghh!" when I started this video and I'm I'm happy you included it... Hearing it just warms my heart; like Knorr chicken soup on a cold day 😊

Someday in the future dialects and languages will merge and become so efficient through elision that it’ll go back to caveman times when we’ll speak in grunts, clicks, and whistles.

In a 1000 years the languages we know today will have changed so much we wouldn't recognise them, because of this - and it's beautiful

And to be clear: everyone does it in every language. Nobody speaks words exactly as they are written. Most of us just "happen" to not notice the patterns that are common in the accepted versions of a language, but are immensely offended by the patterns in the versions commonly used by outgroups. So the only difference is: we only notice the "deviations" by the groups we already don't like or who are at the very least marginalised in the society we grew up in. To us it may seem that we just don't like the way they speak because it's "sloppy" or "improper." But in truth, we have these feelings and opinions about these particular "mistakes" and not our own, because of the biases in our thinking and our culture. We can't see/hear our own "mistakes", but are aggressively aware of the ones made by those who are considered outsiders. So once again, what annoys us and makes us angry tells us more about ourselves than about others.

What I notice is that when Australians (white people) do it, it's a beloved accent. When minorities do it, we need to 'speak properly'.

This a very cool video. We do it in Worcester MA too! We often add Rs with words that end with vowels and the Next word start with a Vowel or just when it's the last word. Ex. Idea -> Idear Tomorrow -> Tamarra(r) that ones kind of like your mouth is in the shape of an r at the end but you don't fully pronounce it Trying to -> Trynar (Again this mostly happens only when the next word begins with a vowel or it's the last word in a sentence) Content great as always Prof. m'Cheaux!

✍🏽 How is that different from malapropisms?
@IsaacMyers1
@IsaacMyers1 26 минут назад
one is using the right word, but not using all of it. The other is misunderstanding which word the word is entirely. Tenna shoe loses the S because it’s there on shoe, but people know it’s tennis. malapropism is thinking people are saying “all intensive purposes” when they are actually saying “all intents and purposes”.

Thank you for teaching and sharing your knowledge so freely. I think it is really important to remember that language is culture is people. I think you do an amazing job of relaying that. It's not dusty old rules, but the people speaking it that make it language. ❤

An intrusive 'R' is super common in non-rhotic accents. I'm from Boston, for instance, where someone might go to a coffee shop to order a 'Cafe Moker' as opposed to a 'mocha'. In boston, basically everyone with the accent does this, it's not specific to black or white people. Ex. "You wanna go get some pizzer or a burgah?"

I LOVE how when Sunn explains something, he first explains the thing, and then gives us examples of the exact same thing from somewhere/something/someone else. This gives SO MUCH CONTEXT! Then he puts it on the screen on top so we can read it, and here, he actually asks us to do it. Dude is covering all 3 ways people earn! It's almost like... He's like, a teacher.. or something 🤨🧐😂🤣🤣

Yes, BLK women that reside in Australia, America and Britain get pumped and dumped by European cave men all the time! European males enslaved, colonized, brutalized, subjugated and dehumanized BLK women for over 400 years! I hope BLK women can recover from this traumatic past! Much love to all the copper skinned sisters out there!!!!!!
