I'm going to share this with my 1000+ online students! I am SO inspired by your work and I saw your link to this video on Facebook. Thank you for this video and would LOVE to see more videos from you!
Gorgeous and creative sketchbooks! ***I know this video was put out a few months ago, but I am wondering what you use to label your sketchbook covers and spines? Is it a Posca or some other permanent paint/marker? Especially on my leather/vinyl sketchbooks, I cannot get any writing to stay on!?*** Any info would be amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your sketchbooks and your wisdom!
@brendaswensonwatercolors Thank you so very much for responding!! I have both sharpies and poscas, so I'm gonna do some sketchbook labeling now! Thank you again!
These are all so beautiful! May I ask a question? On your trips, how do you bring all f your watercolor, water and how do you paint on location? Anyway, these are beautiful. Have a nice day!
Good question! I have a couple set ups for sketching on my RU-vid Channel. Here’s one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iKsme0wedDk.htmlsi=un52pfLJTiF2_ZTC
@@brendaswensonwatercolors Thank you so much! I've been wanting to do on location sketching for a while but it's nice to come prepared and have my bag ready. This definitely helped! :)
I am absolutely in awe of your art. I would love to have sketch books like yours. How beautiful. Tell me, do you do the writing blurbs in pencil before you ink them or are you just writing as you go?
I do a little of both! If the font is stylized I’ll use a pencil for the layout. When it comes to writing my thoughts or events of the day I usually go directly to pen.
Hi Brenda I really love your style! I am new to urban sketching and notice that sometimes you don’t seem to use pen in your compositions and I was wondering how you decide when to outline in ink and when not to. Thank you!
I like working in a diversity of ways and different drawing tools. I’ll use pencil when I know I have enough time to paint. If time is short I start with pen. Why? Because A well drawn line can stand alone as art.
@@brendaswensonwatercolors thank you for the clarity and that amazing perspective! Wish I could take a class with you, but I’m literally on the other side of the country: the coast of Maine😂
I really want to draw watercolor full drawings while I travel as well, but I find drawing on spot very diffucult as the weather is usually hot and sticky, and finding a calm spot to draw is pretty hard. So I wondered if you took pictures of some of the places and drew them later at your accomodation or finished them at the spot. Your journals really inspired me wonderful work! ❤
Nothing wrong with using photos if you're uncomfortable outdoors. It's not a sin. I personally would rather paint outside than use a photo. I love being surrounded by the experience (smells, temperature, sounds...). Sketching with friends always makes the experience more fun and safer, too.
I’m in awe of your skills and talent. I have never seen any other sketchbooks that I love more than yours and one other you tuber artist. You’re my favorite one bec all of your paintings look so pretty and I love your style! I hope to one day soon be as good as you! Pls do more tutorials of your sketchbooks!
@@brendaswensonwatercolors you’re very welcome. Keep it up bec your art work is truly beautiful! Can you please do a video on water/paint ratio? I can never get it right! A tutorial would be amazing
I love your fountain pens. When I was 12 I discovered them and got a Schaefer. It was pen if choice for my journal writing. Now I want to draw with them. Just learning. Love your brown ink.
