If I were Paul the caddie and Matt the, um, golfer suddenly called for that 7-iron instead of the 8-iron we'd already decided on to negotiate that high-lipped escape from a fairway bunker, I'd've found some excuse, any excuse, why it couldn't be used (alas left on last hole, the head just beginning to come loose, tar on the grip, etc.). The life of a caddie is to have idiots ruin what should've been the quite decent rounds laid at their feet and make you complicit in their criminal behavior in doing so.
What a great ambassador Paul is for the Caddie Charity and as a member of our armed forces, wish him all the best of for the future. Well done Matt for airing this episode in your quest to reach the Open.
Great vid... I would say this would be a really good content idea for you as you have the demeanor for it.. but look throughout the area and find charities/development programs around golf that your platform could add some light too. Same type of format, play golf and 'interview' them. What they are doing for veterans is an amazing cause!! Thank you for your service Paul!
Ah, no a pro caddie will not help. Nothing will. Sorry Matt. Would love to have your game but you nor any other RU-vid golfer could qualify. Impossible. But I will watch anyway. I would be happy if you shot even par.
This video came as i was explaining this chipping to my daughter. She is a chopper and i am working on her becoming a brush/crush chipper. This has explained a lot to her. Thank you
Thank you for taking time to do the comparison. the quality of the channel kislux is better, I bought it here, and you can ask them to take a photo for confirmation before shipping.
I found that to be a very enjoyable nine holes to watch. I thought your game was looking pretty tidy, especially around the greens. The weakest point was approaches to the green, but if your chipping game remains as good as it was here it will take the pressure off approaches a bit as you know you can get up and down if necessary. I liked the positive attitude, too. It will help you handle the tension of the actual competition. Good luck.
There are some amazing golfers on RU-vid, the drawback is not playing regular tour golf, Bryan bros, Finch, I don’t think fryer, Robinson, Carter, are quite there. But this what makes opens great!
@@Mattfryergolf your Dad explained the process much better than I have heard. Good refresher. Unfortunately my club no longer has anything to practice except the range, no chipping area, no putting green.
100% agree I’ve always chipped well naturally but I’m a very big feel player and can work my hands well through every different shot scenario but I just keep it simple and good tempo is key
Im new and perhaps a bit stupid but say in scenario 1 why de loft it and have ball farther back etc why not just chip whith 9 iron or similar..whats the point in delofting a club v using the one with that loft
It’s not a stupid question. Rather the opposite as it’s a great question. I’ve been playing for 46 years and still retain a single digit handicap. I carry 5 wedges (44, 48, 52, 56 and 60). I don’t vary my swing, grip, or ball positions as much as this as I never was going to be a pro level golfer and have always tried to keep my game as simple as possible. I do spend a bit of time practicing chipping around greens as I’m comfortable in knowing how much roll I’ll get from each club and therefore work on a particular landing spot on the green so the ball ends up as close to the hole as possible. This enables me to keep my shots relatively simple and just rely on the given loft without having to think of ball position, adjusting grip etc. Welcome to the game we can have a love/hate relationship with. 🤪
Hey matt I have a question for you so far this year when I use a iron off using a tee I am hooking everything way left but If I hit it off the ground then it goes straight and I can't fig out why that is happening
ive had a bit of same! when teeing up i was hitting harder and i put my back leg farther and farther back. That effected ball position to go forward and it was so forward i ended up hooking very often (with irons and driver)! But yes, thats just one thing what might happen! Gotten better after i understood this
Great review thanks, I bought this package last week as my reserve clubs and I was very happily surprised by their performance with the exception of the miserable putter. £899 you have them at, I must have been in the right place at the right time……paid €599.
