I live in Russia in the city of Barnaul and I play in the best orchestra in Russia in RHYTHM BAND we also play Brooklyn and I play this solo on I play it without multiphonics but from now on I will teach like this
Came back to this video after hearing Brooklyn played during the Kansas St. Montana St. NCAA basketball game. Took me a second to remember where I knew the tune from
I just want to say thank you God for my ears to hear such wonderful sounds. And thank you to the RU-vid algorithm for showing me this amazing clip. Until yesterday, I had never heard this before or knew anything about the Youngblood Brass band. I have replayed from about 05:13 onward over 50 times since just last night. Everything about this is perfect; the way he dances with the tuba, the way he is sweating, the conducter, the other horns in the back. This right here took me back to my preteen years when I first fell in love with the sound of the tubas and the marching band in general. Oh my lord is all I can say. I am blown away and this man and his sound has made me decide right here and now that I am purchasing a tuba within the next week to pursue my true passion...being in a band and blasting my little heart out on this big horn. I haven't played since college in 20 years so I am excited to see how much I remember and how far I can go with it. Wish me luck guys!
I never watched the concert put on by the University. But I did once,on PBS. And it was this show. My jaw was on the floor. That’s the baddest ass bitchin tones ever produced by way of brass. You literally have to crawl into that instrument and put in on! Wraps around you like an anaconda. It would never dare to tame a beast like that. What a cool instrument. I’d love to hear this guy play a tune with the Barry Sax player from Tower of Power. Not a battle. Just play. Imagine the portal that would open!
Listening to this piece for like last 5 years or so. I am not into big band music at all, but i love music overall. And i totally love Nat's playing style, using his voice, hence wide spreading tube's natural tone range and overall tone color. AWESOME!
