Hello, I'm Holland. I'm a composer and pianist and I write fantasy, video game/RPG, classical, orchestral, and piano music. I use this channel to share my original compositions, which you can also find on music streaming platforms.
I enjoy writing music and inventing stories or scenes to go along with the songs that I write. I hope that my music transports you to many different places and fantasy worlds and inspires you to imagine your own.

One thing this piece misses is the importance of hand claps in the score. A great piece, but hand claps are used throughout the game to signify the connection between people and most importantly, the connection through hands between Link and Zelda. The claps in the final scene's original score make that final grasping reach feel so much more triumphant, especially with the release of tension at the end.
@@AustinKukay thanks! I wasn’t trying to recreate the music from the game, rather using a piece I already wrote that I felt worked well with the imagery. I am also a fan of the original soundtrack! :)
Well, I took a gander to RU-vid to give your piece a full on listen and I had another epiphany. There were times when I listened to this that it sounded like the music Alan Silvestri had for Iron Man’s funeral in Avengers: Endgame. It dawned on me that you could also be foreshadowing in your music that legends also become legends in death! It definitely had the right tempo and sort of sad, eulogizing, kind of feel to it. Something to think about.
I made a story that went with the original version of this (as part of one of the 21 day challenges) and it was similar to that idea. One of the characters died, but I ended the song on a positive note because I felt that it was too sad and I wanted to give a glimmer of hope.
Another nice one. I especially liked the slowdown right toward the end where suddenly it's piano and then a rest - the music just suddenly stops for a second. Nice touch.
@@broself2878 the video layout was just putting the pages side by side in Sony Vegas. As for the music- I originally wrote a piano solo, so this arrangement was just a matter of deciding where to place/what instruments to use for the melody and harmonies.
This is such a lovely piece! I can definitely see the Zelda/Ghibli vibes, especially with the climax with the brass, and then the harp and flute melody, that feels like something out of Skyward Sword but with your own beautiful motif! And I liked the ending, gave me Final Fantasy vibes for some reason. A perfect way to start my day!!
@@joshuaiyer1434 thank you!! Skyward Sword is one of my favorites! 💖 I was just watching a lore video about it last night. That all means so much, thanks Josh :)
Its so cool to see how this online worldbuilding project has inspired others to create for it too, especially since we’re getting such vibely music from it. Well done o7
Thank you so much! There's not currently a piano solo arrangement of this one, but if I end up making one, I'll try to remember to respond to your comment to let you know!
I am kind of at a loss because I’m still searching through the myriad of things that I felt listening to this piece. It really just comes out and grabs you. And sometimes you have to be careful with sad pieces or those that evoke that emotion because it can be so sad that you don’t enjoy listening to it. Thankfully, because you are such a great composer, this piece does not fall into that trap! You continue to get better and better each time I listen to a new piece! Keep it up my friend.
A dark couple moments in the ruins. I could have listened to a lot more of this. One of the other commenters nailed it when they called this haunting. But I think it's even darker than that. There's something of the nightmare in it. I enjoyed it.
Thank you so much! The ruins really have that sort of vibe, right? Beautiful and mysterious, but with streaks of dark and maybe something more sinister underneath.
Gorgeous!! I’d love to play that solo violin part. :-) I definitely went through that moment of feeling uninspired and demotivated to compose, not being happy with what you’ve been working on, and it’s rough. I’m so glad you shared this though and even just putting out works and hopefully hearing the response from the comments can help bring that spark back.
Thank you! Yeah, it's hard sometimes. Especially since composing is such a solitary thing, all those feelings can be amplified. It comes and goes, I guess... but I try to keep working towards the goal. 🎵
Awesome work on this project! catchy and interesting leitmotiv, really good orchestration, very interesting to listen to on its own, it will be very nice to pair with gameplay! It's dark, ethereal at times, epic in other places, mysterious and disturbing, while always staying harmonically and melodically pleasing. The devlog was fun to read too :)
Wow, Holland! There is so much incredible music in here - fantastic orchestration with the songs and using that melody as a motif, some experimental things with synths, I loved all the solo violin things and could see myself covering those one day :-) It all creates everything I’d love in a fantasy orchestral video game soundtrack, and feels wonderfully cinematic. I will definitely check out the demo to hear your music in-game sometime, and I’ll definitely be looking out for the full soundtrack and game release when it’s ready!! <3
Thank you, Joshua! There's going to be some motifs that become more familiar throughout the soundtrack, so I'm glad you've already found some! I hope you enjoy the demo and the game when they're both out. :)
I normally try to have a pen and paper so I can write down my thoughts, but I am not near any of that right now. So many different things entered my mind. I’ll just nail bullet points. The Apostate, I love that you switched to more electronic, synthesizer feel, or use, in the first phase. Definitely had a more evil feel to it! Your soloist and the power of her voice really added a lot of wonderful dimensions to the music. The Dreamcatcher theme was so light and airy and whimsical and ethereal, beauty captured in music! I am so excited for you and so very proud of you getting this project and just turning in a tour de force! Congratulations my friend
Many many thanks! I liked experimenting with electronic and synth-y stuff, and Tze is *incredible*. Very excited to share more from this game, it's been so great to work on with everyone.
Fantastic piece!! To me. It was like the game, focusing on one character in a battle of hundreds as that person combats one right after the other! And I love the wonderful little crescendos, I could almost see the hero as he vanquishes another opponent and then runs along to the next one.
@@ChrisPorterMusic aw thanks! :) I'm unsure how many tracks there will be total. We planned out the soundtrack a few times as the project evolved, and it's varied by quite a bit. Last time we did a run-down of everything, I believe it was around 30-35, but that was like a year (or more) ago and there have been many updates since then.
