Love the stethoscope. Best way to have good tone is having great taste and hearing. Adam Jones tone on the latest album absolutely blew me away. Tools tone is as good as gets…every member has videos like this. Bass, guitar, and drums…how do I get that tone. It is truly amazing compared to most. Jake White gets some pretty amazing tone.
They were both on par with AJ's tone. The 5 was a little hotter sounding and a little buzzy. Which is AJ's sound. The sh5 was a little clearer on the clean picking, soft playing and the heavy notes and crunch.
I find that selecting from the pulldown menu, using the down-arrow, is confusing. Selecting the plus (+) or minus (-) sign from the pulldown menu is not needed. A suggestion: If I was writing the interface for the "Mooer Studio Radar IR Loader" application, I would include an "ADD IR" and a "DEL IR" button to the first page. Use those to install or delete wav files to the Radar. I would place the buttons between the SAVE and IMPORT buttons.
A guy at werk told me once that I suffered from GAS. Gear Acquisition Syndrome, and I had to set him straight. I told him that I don't care what anyone says about my guitars, or why I buy them. I don't make excuses to buy them, because I don't have to. My home is paid off, I raised my family and I have been responsible with money my whole life, and now I want to enjoy what I have earned. There are so many new companies making great instruments now, as opposed to what I was forced to learn on back in the 70's, that I want to experience some before I go. You can't take anything with you, so I want to enjoy, as long as it does not negatively impact my family or my budget. In my opinion, people say GAS, to be clever or, "cute", but it's no one's business what a person does with his money. I just got a Harley Benton ST-62MN VW Vintage Series guitar, and it is fantastic. Compares very well to my 2014 Fender FSR Strat. Love the Roswell pickups, can't put it down. GO THOMANN!!!! Cheers!
I need to do this to my tele. I hate the vintage style tuners as I have issue with the high E string popping out. I have lockers on two other guitars, a strat ultra and a Gretsch. So much easier
In regards to the EQ not doing much, it's definitely tied to the master level on that amp... turned down the EQ has more of an impact, with the master up like it is, it does almost nothing.
It's not clear what pickup Adam Jones actually used but the Gibson signature lists a Custom-Wound Seymour Duncan DDJ. From what I know, that pickup is essentially the same as an off the shelf Duncan Distortion (SH-6) pickup with a custom winding. I've heard accounts of him using a Seymour Duncan DDL (80s) originally, so I don't know about the JB
out of the box? I had 4 Harley Bentons. I became a luthier just because of Harley Benton ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KlkwiJQpScE.htmlsi=ggtVfeZzhAEDblDz
Now I'm encountering the same problem in 2024... haha. Thanks for the USB 2.0 information! I should look for a cable which used to work with Radar, or just buy a new one.
When you pull the thing thru with a locking tuner pull the string up bend it up then lock it in place…however it make it easy saying the string if your doing mod on you guitar …you can sae a heap on string s i dont know how much ‘tuing stability ‘you will actually get but hey its a gas….jumping jack !lol😂take care mate love on you bro
I’ve never been able to get the SH6 to produce a good AJ tone. But the first time I hit a drop D power chord through the JB I instantly heard his crunch
Afaik, there is a difference between the the flangers, the BF3 is not an updated version, its digital. The BF2 is analog. I had both and i find they dont sound they same at all. I still have the BF2 and will never sell that thing. Its one of the best pedals i have. The BF2 has been discontinued for some time now but they pop up on the internets every so often. Great video tho and the tones are spot on!
Good vid but I think we over-analyze his sound to a huge fault. I've seen Tool 5 or 6 times now and his tone is always unbelievably consistent but after getting close enough to the stage at two of their big shows at a local indoor arena, he's always just playing through his Diezel and he pretty much stays on CH3 all night. He dipped to CH2 a few times but usually just used his volume knob for clean sounds. Even more important of an observation is that his marshall stayed on standby the whole night at both of those big arena shows. It was 100% diezel CH3 and the man's hands.
You're playing some simple open chords through a clean sounding signal path (after 10.00). Why does it sound out of tune, is the intonation bad or did you forget to tune the guitar?
These songs are great! Was wondering what had happened to you. I got a little GAS myself, trying to keep it under control. Spend more time playing vs looking at gear 😂 looking forward to your future posts. P.S. thanks for the Cortex preset for those chasing the Jonez Tonez
idk if its the YT compression but try lowering the gain just a tad bit on the Diezel, i mean by just a tiny tiny amount, play around with it might find you get more articulation on your power chords (your tone is super tasty btw) absolutely rockin!
obviously this guy doesn't know the housing of the pedals is where the real tasty toooanz come from 40 year old glue on adams DOD? toanz. dust under the knobs on the BF2, TOANZ!!!! <<< i typed that literally as the video hit 7:45 hahaha that's some excellent toanz bro, really nice setup!
