Love Strats? Love amazing finishes? Love a great price tag? Then this guitar could be for you! www.thomann.de/intl/harley_be... #harleybenton #thomann #ST-62
It's funny how many people desperately look to find fault with these guitars. The angrier these guitars make the elitists whine, the more you know this is an excellent guitar.
lol for real, saw a review with a guy saying that the frets were sharp and that saddles were sharp, while yes its true he was being super negative and acting like it was a 1000 dollar guitar, you get what you pay for and honestly i love mine
I love my harley benton guitars I own 3 of them the s620 blue with the floyd rose, the dc 400 sg style and the 20hh tele style guitar all my harley benton guitars play pretty dam good in my opinion I also have a strat and a Kramer striker and the harley Benton's are now my go to guitars just because if thier playability I've got my eye on another harley benton the cheaper les paul one i live in the states Springfield missouri and it takes roughly 4 days from thomann to get my orders just outstanding and customer service excellent never had an issue and never had any damage when I received my guitars yeah I love them why spend a bunch of money when I can get cheaper versions that have great quality, I think harley benton is gonna take over the guitar world in a short time it's like how do they do it but they do great guitars in my opinion for sure
Great option for Strat shoppers out there. Thanks, this review was excellent. I’ve never seen a reviewer use a fret rocker and string height gauge right after an unboxing. That is awesome. Really liked the sound demos too. This might be my favorite review of all time! Informative from the very start. Can’t wait to check out other guitars on the channel.
Great review very fair, and i trust you, as you are not promoting a single guitar company, decent guitarists always give good reviews on budget guitars, nice playing
A guy at werk told me once that I suffered from GAS. Gear Acquisition Syndrome, and I had to set him straight. I told him that I don't care what anyone says about my guitars, or why I buy them. I don't make excuses to buy them, because I don't have to. My home is paid off, I raised my family and I have been responsible with money my whole life, and now I want to enjoy what I have earned. There are so many new companies making great instruments now, as opposed to what I was forced to learn on back in the 70's, that I want to experience some before I go. You can't take anything with you, so I want to enjoy, as long as it does not negatively impact my family or my budget. In my opinion, people say GAS, to be clever or, "cute", but it's no one's business what a person does with his money. I just got a Harley Benton ST-62MN VW Vintage Series guitar, and it is fantastic. Compares very well to my 2014 Fender FSR Strat. Love the Roswell pickups, can't put it down. GO THOMANN!!!! Cheers!
I got mine... Absolutely stunned with it. It's my 3rd HB after a fusion ll Pro oct strat.. Te 52 but this 62cc is incredible... Particularly the fretboard!
Hey Johnasu, 2 years later I have a question. I'm a beginner who wants to play pop and 80s (rock, pop, and disco). Do you recommend the Fusion III or the ST-62?
@@wesleydevries7415 I don't have the fusion 3.. but I have the Oct fusion 2 (green one) and I love it. The St is more vintage style so probably suit the music style better but whatever man! The above two guitars are my go-to.
Hi Jack. I guess CC stands for Custom Colour. Take a look at those: "Custom Shell Pink" "Custom Inca Sillver" ... The one in glossy black and tortoise pickguard is mit called 62CC but 62RW for the (RoseWood) fretboard. The type of fretboard wood follows the CC on the custom types
Cant go wrong for the money. I got expensive guitars and cheap HB guitars that I've modded and they hold their own. Last HB guitar was the white blonde telecaster, cost 88 euro and the fretwork was crazy good. Only need final polishing, frets were pretty level. Didnt know they sell these guitars in custom colours !
I know Harley Bentons are affordable. When you said 139 euros I had to check. As I thought you made a mistake and meant 239. To the UK it is £104, mind is blown.
On newer models that is. I've got a 2008 Harley Benton DC (don't know which one exactly as I bought it used on ebay) and the tuners on that one are crap just like the pick ups and paintjob and more or less everything else.
Really great review - you did not mention fret ends ?? But I liked all those special tools you use - very impressive and no body else I have watched has those - happy that it checked out so well - was going to go for s Squire Classic Vibe but think I will order this one instead - helped me a lot and it sounded great too !! Way to go bro and keep it up - many thanks !!! You rock !!
I think Harley Benton is probably a better deal if you live in Europe... I think I'm going to get this one as my next guitar, the lake blue is really nice 👌
Apparently that blue color is no longer available. Lasted all of 2-3 weeks it seems. Lucky you, as that blue is gorgeous. But the Inca Silver looks pretty sweet too, even if it has to be custom ordered.
I adore the colour, it's really beautiful! Not sure about the sound, Strats (in my opinion) needs a lot of effect added before the tone has real 'body' but then again, I am a sucker for the sound of a mini-humbucker with all its awesome midrange :)
harley benton is great. the shipping kills it. it adds up. and if there's something wrong you cant return it. For $300 you can get a decent ibanez. I have been wanting one for years. but I can't risk getting a bad guitar....
I gonna buy my first strat kinda guitar, i play my Les Paul a long time now and its my only guitar,, this HB st62 is perfect to see if the single coil teratory suits me.
hey great review I was thinking about getting one of these, I love the colour and look and it seems like it plays great too All I was wondering was when you say mint green is it noticeably green? or is it more so like a off white ish kinda thing? thanks so much
Nice very nice im getting one by the way the cc means custom color have fun I love the mint pickguard.how do u like the gutiar so far like I said I'm getting one lmk thanks
No complaints or regrets. Love the neck and in-between pick-up tones. It’s not a guitar for metal but nor should it be. Through a nice chimey amp and then a good overdrive pedal just let’s this axe sing. Enjoy your new guitar and happy riffing
Sperzel locking tuners. Bone nut. Duncan 59's or Antiquities. Brass saddles. Maybe even a locking bridge. I might get the black and tortoise shell with the rail at the bridge. Hot rails. Gold foils. TV Jones Powertrons. Dimarzios. I find picking pickups very confusing. Is basswood closest to the lowest quality for electric guitar bodies? I have a Harley Benton TE-90 I haven't modded yet. What is this strat copy in USD$? Good video.
It sounded like the high e string was a little out of tune, but hey, they're new. I have the ST62 MN BK coming soon. The way things are going, I might have it by this fall...... I have an early 80's Japanese Fender Strat with a, made for Fender, Schaller floating bridge. Always felt like a great guitar. Just can't get that G string to sound right near the nut! Any suggestions? So, I'm looking to replace it.
Switching out the nut is one of the easiest, cheapest and most useful upgrades you can do on a guitar. I'm currently working on a video where I switch out the nut of a Gibson Custom Shop. You wouldn't think it's a custom shop because it will not stay in tune and you get the horrible ping sound whenever tuning the G or B strings. Tuners have been switched out but not difference. So it's definitely the nut. Go for a Graphtec Tusq nut. They are fantastic. The difference is like night and day.
I’ve listened to that tune you were playing near the beginning a couple hundred times now. I’m trying to think of which band it reminds me of before the solo. I’m thinking Echo and the Bunnymen? Anyway, it’s brilliant.
With a brand new guitar, if you find high frets before you start sanding the shit out of the frets. First get a fretting hammer and lightly tap down the high frets. be careful not to hit the strings it will put nicks in the frets.. use the plastic side of the hammer
Hey great video!! Im thinking about buying one of those and have an old tokai neck laying around, could you please measure the neck pocket on yours? That would be awesome!
It did not rock, on the frets I mentioned. I was holding it in a wierd position so I could capture it in the camera. I rechecked the fret work just now and it was only those 3 frets that were a bit high. I'm as honest as I can be doing this vids. If something is bad, I tell it like it is. I'm not endorsed or sponsored in any way, so I have nothing to lose ;-)
@@benallmark9671 it was nicely crafted, but it weighed almost 12 lbs, sold it a week later. Shame too, it if would have been a typical J bass weight, around 9 or so. I definitely would have kept it.
Hi good review. Can you tell me what the actual top line cost was because when VAT and delivery cost by H B is added it’s more than the £135 which qualifies for no import duty/taxes and courier add ons (paper work ... their delivery etc.) . Before I take the plunge thanks.
There's info on the thomann site. Apparently there are no additional charges since July 2021 apart from the usual £8 shipping. I'm guessing you've got yours but I'm adding this info for anyone in the UK interested in trying one out.
A luthier here in the UK compares them to Classic Vibe, I am not sure about that , but what I was stunned with the Classic Vibe was the trem block I honestly thought they would have a steel bridge but it did not, I feel also this market, is open, another interesting fact is they come with Alnico Pickups, which lower end Squiers ; Affinity and Bullet do not, that's a definite winner over the Squier Affinity and Bullet, question can you upgrade the trem block to a Wilkinson steel block , the nut I would swap to graphtec, but I am looking at the Chocolate Frost one now
I would have to check the specs on the Wilkinson trems compared to the one in the HB. But Harley Benton guitars (higher specs ones) have Wilkinson tremelos, so I would imagine that the upgrade would be no trouble at all. And Graphtec nuts are definetely the way to go - one of the best upgrades you can do to a budget guitar. The difference is astounding.
I have the st-62 and it is indeed on par with a classic vibe (used to own one). I upgraded the trem block with a fender replacement bridge for mim and Asian (52.5mm spacing). It is a drop in replacement. It has a zinc block but is full thickness. The only reasons to buy a classic vibe over this are: 9.5 radius, fender spec body curves, fender style headstock.
Just get some wooden dowels and use a small hammer or mallet to gently push raised frets down. Iv'e had this with a few harley bentons. I think it may happen in transit and storage. Why use dowels? because you can move the strings whilst tapping down. Also dowels are cheap as they wear and tram line just sand them off or get a fresh one out. I use 10mm 3/8 will do for you freedom lovers.
this is no longer available. seems like every time I check out these reviews on Harley Benton and then go to the site they are ALWAYS no longer available.
All good on my side Frank. Enjoying the home life and helping out my family where I can. Got to stick together during these strange times - figuratively speaking of course - we still keep our distance 😂 Hope you're doing well. How are you coping? New gear helps 😉
@@BasementGAS I'm alright, have to work from home, which - I hate to say it, but - has gotten a little weird after day 435 ... or was it 436!? Talking new gear. The quarantine has probably also made me nuts. I'm very close to ordering a custom built custom shop strat, made to my specs. Could you please talk me out of it?
Basement GAS yeah I know that the AJ sig. is in the pipeline at Gibson. I’ve read the rumors. It’s funny tho. I’m a huge fan and I like playing a Les Pablo for Tool stuff. But deep inside, I’m a strat guy. For me it’s LP for hard rock/metal and a strat for everything else.
@@MaximilianOwnige Thank you! This helped with my dilema. I'm buying a Harley Benton guitar and to be honest, for a while I Thought it had no truss rod
Hey, I'm fine thanks. I'm gonna try and start creating some content again soon. I've had other things going on in the last year but I think I have my head free to get some shit done. But you guys writing to check up is really nice and give me the drive to get back in there. Thanks again and your support is much appreciated ❤❤
Keep the tuners and learn to string up and balance the trem, Get the Fender YJM nut, it is made of brass. It don't matter if the instrument cost 50.000 $ and you are the lost member of Alcatrazz if you have the basics that make that vintage tremolo work.
its called relief!....you need it so the strijgs can swing without buzzing...... 2-3 high frets, get a fret setter and a hammer, give em a little smack and its good to go, no need for a full fretjob. would be nice if you would look under the pickguard to show the guts of that thing.
3:12 So, is my Harley Benton ST-20 based on strats from the 20's? 😂 Man, they're already mostly unavailable, especially the blue one. Actually there are only the dark green with gold hardware and black with tortoise shell left...The dark green one would be cool without the gold hardware, makes it ugly (and I have a black Les Paul type Harley with gold, that I think looks great); the turtoise shell one is also ugly, so no wonder those are the only ones left right now...oh well, since I'm looking for a tele next....
Jeronimo Martinez Fabregas I just got the Harley Benton TE-52. first Harley Benton ever and never had anything like a Tele before. Was sceptical but boy is it good. Frets, electronics and finish feels awesome, pickups are awesome. Have put in Graphtech string trees, Graphtech Tusq nut, compensated brass saddles, real Kluson locking heads and now it plays like butter, great string stability and character. 250€. I seriously can’t believe I’ve never tried Harley Benton’s out earlier and kinda regret it.
@@marvinroggon3168 It's awesome you're happy with it! I changed out the string trees and tuners on my ST-20 for rolling trees and Harley Benton locking tuners (like 40 bucks, yet they do the job and the tuning stability on the guitar is rock solid). Like 125 bucks in all for an HSS Strat that sounds like heaven, so much it replaced the other guitar I had until then, a Harley Benton SC-Custom. I picked that one up again after a few months and was still so pleased with how it plays and sounds after going with the Strat as my go to. Some time soon I'll be getting the TE-70 deluxe, mainly because of the Wilkinson bridge with brass saddles, since I want to experience a Tele as close as possible to the traditional style. My only gripe is that they don't have more colors or finishes to choose from at that price point. Enjoy the TE-52!
One you are checking with the fret rocker with the strings you need to take the strings off ajust the truss rod straight check it with something long and straight then when you adjust the neck straight then use the fret rocker ,you will never get a good outcome with the strings on and checking with the fret rocker, you may end up making your guitar very bad by making some frets lower because you didn't do this correctly I'm just saying
