Welcome to my Vlog on life in Taiwan.... A project I started to share my life as an Englishman living thousands of miles from home in a country known as The Heart of Asia!
Allan, what did you do to lose so much weight? You looks so slim and fit. It's always a debate topic about a better place to live, in city or countryside. I would not say which is better as I was born and raised in countryside of Taichung, not far from Fengyuan. But I get used to live in a city now.
In fact, the native language of Taiwan used to be not Mandarin. The native tongue of Taiwanese people historically has been diverse due to the island's complex history and various waves of immigration. Here are the primary historical languages spoken in Taiwan: 1. Austronesian Languages: The indigenous peoples of Taiwan, who are Austronesian, spoke various Austronesian languages. These languages are still spoken by the indigenous communities today and are part of the broader Austronesian language family, which includes languages spoken in the Philippines, Indonesia, Madagascar, and the Pacific islands. 2. Hokkien (Taiwanese): With significant Han Chinese immigration starting in the 17th century, particularly from the Fujian province, Hokkien (also known as Taiwanese Minnan) became widely spoken. It remains a dominant language among the Han Chinese population in Taiwan. 3. Hakka: Another group of Han Chinese immigrants, the Hakka, brought their language, Hakka, which is still spoken by the Hakka communities in Taiwan. 4. Mandarin: After the Chinese Civil War in 1949, the Nationalist government retreated to Taiwan and promoted Mandarin as the official language. Over time, Mandarin became the dominant language used in education, government, and media. The language referred to as "Chinese" today is actually Mandarin...... In fact, China is a multilingual country. There are many other languages and dialects used throughout the country. China has a variety of languages and dialects, mainly including: 1. I think most Taiwanese should go outside of Taiwan for more life experiences, stay in Taiwan no much potentials. I know there is a Taiwanese band is famous oversea called Sunset rollercoaster
I would choose downtown Taichung. Best if it is near his school, an MRT station and a park. If all 3 isn't possible, perhaps pick any 2 out of 3. I am curious about the international English-speaking schools. I know of 2 in Taichung and both of them are expensive. How do you work out the finances as a RU-vidr? I know you can save money by not flying to South Africa to see your son, but it is a small savings compared to tuition.
That lady at 11:00 got herself one of them fancy e-bikes. First time I used of them I didn't know that it activates once you start peddling and it damn near launched my fatass into traffic
