I love the two of them so much they are the go to every night before I sleep Bretts performance is impeccable the holmes I always thought of when reading the stories I only wish he lived to complete his work 😔
I am madly in love and admiration of Jeremy Brett interpretation and of all the other characters too. Great art production. I am an artist and I am attempting to make a J.B. portrait more than once. Much love and appreciation from the south of Italy <3
Looking forward to thr New Sherlock Holms adventures #3 - Robert Downey Jr. & Jude Law. I don't know why this is so famous, endearig to the World, standing the test of time through books and Films. "Sherlock Holms & his Trusted Friend Dr. Watson", an old story by Arthur Conan Doyle. The Scotsman could write entertaining STORY'S!!! & WE STILL LOVE THEM.❤❤❤❤❤
OMG as if the monkey suit weren't bad enough.... Though, in it's defense this is definitely one of the fanciful adventures of Holmes like the sign of four, especially as dramatized by these people. Obv. the Isle of Dr. Moreau comes to mind. And also Doyle's desire to write science fiction not detective stories. This story is in keeping with Dr. Moreau but especially with Jekyll and Hyde, which the Vict. audiences would all know. The ape like man is representation also of the animalistic underside which was suppressed, so it was conceived of in Victorian mentality.
The comment by Holmes at the end is priceless. He was stoking Watson's ego. And the good doctor was none the wiser! The slight smile that crosses the great consulting detective's lips after his comment is also priceless. It tells us that Holmes was amused by both his comment and Watson's reply.
Genius at work, Brett masterclass. Favourite episode, rugged scenery, atmospheric music and a truly perfect outcome. The best Holmes by a mile, no contest.
Too bad Susannah Harker, crying: "Daddy," is ultimately thrown off the Roof Garden of the House of Parliament by Ian Richardson as the Chief Whip and Jonathan Hyde suffers the indignity of leaving on the last lifeboat of the Titanic. Here we see them both before all that . . . unpleasantness . . . upsets them.
Great to see these again now that I'm much older and somewhat wiser. Yes, Jeremy Brett was a great actor and a perfect Sherlock Holmes, but what strikes me now is just how FUNNY he was! Comedy can't be taught, you either have the instinct or you don't. He had it❤😂
