I meet him in Boston his hands where shaken he obviously can’t draw anymore so he should just write and sign or something. He should not destroy his reputation as his artwork pre 2000 is special
Franks art has always been terrible Neal Adams knew it The Elektra Saga from Miller she has such a horrid looking face People complained about the Alex Ross Timeless Elektra cause it wasn’t as sexy as Greg Horn would do But whatever Frank is doing now it looks like that but 4x worse now …I personally wouldn’t pay that guy to do a cover
im very likely giving PSA a go after all this banana bend nonsense. I have a stack of ~25 books I'm sitting on until the new year. I haven't submitted to CGC in about a month and just waiting on my last shipment back from them. I love the PSA viewing area (although they're quite a bit wider) and really love that frosted plastic. the labels are just a bit underwhelming for me. Also anticipating a HUGE delay fro PSA once they're up and running as they're about to get flooded.
The CGC grading is BS. The fact that they don’t give grade notes for every grade is preposteous. Its especially needed at the higher grades. If you book comes back 8.0 below the defects should be evident. Its where the defects are not as noticeable that the customer wants to know why it got the grade it did. Then they say 9.8 can get 1-2 defects and a book comes back with 1 defect and it gets a sub 9.8 or pre-screen reject you want zo know why.
Really sick books, super bummed CGC isnt on their stuff, was looking into getting into them but now Im not too sure. Super stoked to find your pages also, pretty sure you are local to me also haha
The difference between you and cgc, you care about your customers and cgc obviously does not or they wouldn’t be coming up with excuses every time they screw up.
I had a 9.8 pre-screen submission from May that came back with about 33% of my books bent and damaged to some degree. CGC's response is that I can pay to send them in and press/reholder. Seriously, they want me to send them in and possibly get back lower grades and even more damaged books, at MY expense.
The grading is just an evaluation of a comic's physical condition, not an index of its market value. A comic's value is directly correlated with its rarity - as well as its condition. The fact is, any seasoned collector is already familiar with the fundamentals of grading, thus making the cult (and the expense) of slabbing somewhat null and void.
Man, this is really terrible timing. I have 25 Dan Mendoza covers I’m about to send in for grading. Some were very hard to even find for sale. If they all came back with bends I’d be beyond mad. 😡 I guess I’ll just wait it out
CBCS staff even told me that they believe they grade more harsh. MakeRoomCollectibles told me that Beckett who owns CBCS is the strictest grader in the card industry, so it would seem logical that CBCS would be the same. I've got one book at CBCS right now TMNT #1 3rd print, so we will see!
The best form of collecting is raw bookS! Proper storage after you press and clean should suffice. I have been collecting for over 45 years and only sent 3 books to CGC for pressing! RAW BOOKS RULE! LOL! 👍
That's great feedback to new collectors! I am really interested in pairing down my collection to a limited number of slabbed books because I want them to be more easily liquidated by my family when I'm gone! Thanks for watching!
I’ll be honest to say I’ve never slabbed a single ish tho I have been given them as gifts, but I find the whole “ repair “ gig pretty F’d as well, the pressing and cleaning and repairing its bs nothing more than a bag and board, whatever the condition.
I don't, but if you use their discount codes the prices become reasonable, and you almost guarantee yourself to get a very high-grade comic book. Thanks for watching!
I actually just took out my old Famous Monster collection and started getting them graded, I took unbelievably great care with stogage of them receiving quite a few are still the highest grade. Now I'm not sure I even want to start examining them I'm so worked up. Lol, I actually said to myself the exact same thing @ 6:42.
