Hey there fellow crocheters, I’m Candy and I design crochet patterns and film video tutorials for my channel on RU-vid. I want to start by saying, I am by no means a expert teacher. I figure things out as I go along and I love playing with yarn! This is how I have discovered new crochet stitches.
I am a mother of two and I live in Israel, but I was born and raised in Oklahoma. I met a man on an online game and became friends and through time we fell in love and I came out here to Israel to be together. From lack of knowing how to speak Hebrew, I had to find a way to help take care of our two kids, so after sharing my crochet projects online and being asked to do a tutorial on one of them, I finally broke down and tried it. Very nice pattern, I know you made the tutorial a long time ago but I have a nephew who is in love with sponge bob so I think I’m going to make this for him and thanks for not deleting your older tutorials
Thank you for sharing these free patterns. I appreciate it 🙏 ❤ I can't find the actual pattern for the cat oven mitt and potholder in your link. Only the materials needed. One of my friends is a huge cat lover. She has 4 cats and would love this set!
When you click the link for the cat mitts it takes you to Ravelry, then you click the " This pattern is available for free." on their page and you can download the PDF. Have fun!
It's multiples of 17, when you reach your desired size then ch 3 more. 156 wouldn't be right. 7 x 22 = 154 + 3 is 157. Sometime when making the decrease sections you can skip a stitch by mistake, I would do it again but if you have extra chains just unravel them.
Crystal didn't send me...RU-vid did! But I now have TWO favorite crochet gurus that I can rely on to inspire my projects.... Meladora and Crystal! Thanks to you both.
@@Meladora1 I've just finished the "Prep row" for the Jagged Scrap Yarn Afghan. Now the fun begins! Using mostly Caron Simply Soft leftovers - hope it won't be too heavy... maybe I'll throw in rows of other stuff along the way and turn it into a "Jagged & Bizarre" extravaganza!
The furthest I've gotten up to so far is row 10, but in the beginning I had to redo the band about 4-5 times because it kept ending up too small. The rest of this tutorial is really nice and easy to follow, and being my first time doing these type of stitches, they've turned out great! It's the sizing that I'm finding really hard to understand. I did the initial 66 stitches and the final ring would've fit a baby! So I restarted, gradually got it bigger and bigger until it was (what I thought was) the right size, so starting building the beanie up. Until the person I was making it for told me it was just a fraction tight... So I've had to restart again. I can't remember how many chains my original size was until I started over, but it was well over 100 chains and it was still about 2-3cm too small. I'm not sure what I'm doing differently... I'm using a 4mm hook with 8ply yarn (I think it's called DK weight yarn in the US? And the 8ply yarn says to use a 4mm hook), I don't think it would make THAT much difference though would it? I do love this pattern so far, it would be a shame not to use this pattern because it's been so easy and it was taking shape beautifully. I hope there's a fix! 🤞🏼 P.S: sorry for the lengthy comment 😅
Several things can effect the size of a hat. Hook size, yarn size and how tight the crocheter crochets. I remember this was 70 stitches at the start when I designed it, but it was so big so I decreased it to 66. Feel free to go back to the 70 stitch beginning and see if that works out better for you. Best wishes and I hope your friend loves the hat!
@@Meladora1 Thanks for the advice! Would the ply of yarn make a difference too? I'm using 8ply (Australian size). I assumed that the yarn you're using is also the same, but I'm now not sure of the international size conversion. And what hook size would you recommend, if my yarn is a different size to yours? :)
