LingQ breaks down the barriers that prevent people from learning languages. We LingQ ("link") you to a world of authentic content and an online community of learners and native speaker tutors. We LingQ you to our powerful tools and resources. (We don't LingQ you to classrooms, text books and grammar rules.)
Hello, what exactly do the check mark symbol and the trash icon on the left in the status bar do? There is another trash icon on the top right, I clicked it twice and it disappeared, I couldn't figure out what it was. When I open the status bar again and enlarge it, there is a section called related phrases. I see small sentences here from time to time, but can't we enter here?
Hello, can you put different shades of gray in the android mobile application. I can't use white text on black. There is a problem with the gel in my eyes. That's why I have a lot of trouble. I use white, and after a while it tires the eyes a lot. I'm sure there are many people like me. It's really surprising that you don't think about this.
This is very helpful. Day two of using lingq for Korean. Starting as an upper Beginner who really wants to take their language learning seriously. It was helpful to find lingq after watching Steve’s 90 day challenge in Korean.
The tip about using an external program to make an mp3 and use the transcript created by lingq is really useful. Since many (older) hungarian videos dont have subtitles
I can't sign in to RU-vid from the LingQ app - it's asking me to confirm I'm not a bot. I'm signed in to RU-vid in my browsers and the RU-vid app, but there is no sign in button on the embeded LingQ video :/
Oh dear, that isn't right. Would you mind please letting me know the browser and video you are trying to import? We will get to the bottom of this ASAP. Thanks so much.
When will we be able to watch it on the actual video though? having the small non-adjustable window in the lingq reader isn't super useful if you want to see the video
When you encounter difficulties retaining certain words or phrases, you can ask ChatGPT to make mini stories with those words or phrases only and listen to those specific mini stories 20 times instead of having to listen to all the ministories again
Hi there, here's a post on the LingQ Blog that you will find helpful. www.lingq.com/blog/how-to-import-ebooks-on-lingq/ Let us know if you have any other questions at all. Thanks!
Please tell the team to consider my suggestion as follows. Adding a language swap program.. so for example.. I'm learning Portuguese and there will be a tab for Brazilians (or Portuguese) learning English and we can talk with each other. This will attract more people to LingQ because then you'll have the features that some famous apps have for JUST talking to people.. and LingQ could have it all in one place. And if someone wants to pay for a professional.. they have they LingQ tutors. Please add this 🙏🏻
The Chrome extension has stopped working for a couple of days now, and I would appreciate your help with this issue. I find the content inside LingQ a bit boring, and I prefer exporting things on my own. Thank you!
Did you say you learn 250 words a day? Is that from blue all the way to known? How can you manage this? What I do is put the word up a step the next time I see it in another context and I guessed it right. But now I've heard you do this so my method seems too slow with how Lingq is supposed to work. I know it's a matter of taste but I'd rather have some guidelines as to how many words I could be learning a day. I'm studying Mandarin if that makes any difference, thanks
As I say in the webinar, you won't learn words right away. Initially you are just getting exposure, over time you will start to realize you know words you have LingQed and can move these to Known. Once you get to an intermediate stage, adding 250 words is possible in many languages where multiple variants of the same words exist or where there are words that are similar to words in your own language.
It also depends on the degree of familiarity to a language you already know, how many new words you LingQ every day and how strict you are with the definition of “known“. I’ve gone through 30 to 100 new LingQs a day for a long time and mark my words as known the moment they don’t interrupt my reading flow anymore. With that setup so to say it isn’t a rare occurrence anymore to break through 100 new known words a day. With mandarin it’s up to you to decide if you want to let the tones out of the criteria to mark a word as known. And don’t hang yourself up on numbers. I just started mandarin a week ago and my stats are 6764 read, 337 LingQs and literally 9 known. That language is so enormously different from any other that it takes a lot of time at the start to even see a little bit of progress.
I really enjoy studying with your great system. Way better, more effective and definitly more motivating than the things we do in school. May I ask when Thai will be added? Or aren't you planning on adding it? Greetings from Germany ❤
We add languages as volunteers complete the basic requirements. We have yet to find a volunteer for Thai. If we get our basic content requirements met, we will add it. For more information, you can write in to LingQ support especially if you are a volunteer for Thai!
Love the link Platform, only thing I wish you guys had was the nekudot in Hebrew and similar vowel systems for other languages. would make proper pronunciation in those languages when reading a lot easier.
If you guys could expand the content library and improve the recommendation algorithm it would be killer. I feel like my only issue is having trouble finding the right content on LingQ
Thanks for the suggestion. We are fine-tuning the recommendations. Do you use the Importer? You can make anything online a lesson. It's a game-changer!
I actually like the white background.. but the font Change and background is really awesome.. also the reading speed and time spent learning. I hope it is on the app version soon :)
@@Senemova Have you tried importing on the web with the browser extension there? I believe when you try to access Netflix on a mobile device you get sent to the mobile app which might be the issue. Let me know if that doesn't work and I will see what else I can suggest. Thanks :)
I don't understand one important thing. When I look at this video and my own stats of Known Words, LingQs, LingQs Learned, etc., the first number is in bold, followed by a /, then another number that is not bolded. For example, in the video under known words the stats show 3219 (in bold)/4095 known words. But it's not clear what the 3219 is referring to versus the 4095. Presumably it's saying 3219 out of 4095 but I don't understand the significance of each number.
Hi there, thanks for your question. When you sign up, you are asked to set your daily streak target. You can choose casual, steady, keen or intense. Each target has a set number of known words to achieve in a day. You are correct, the bold number is the known words you have achieved. The grey number is how many you should achieve to stay on track and gain your streak. I hope that makes sense! You can change your daily streak target in settings if you would like. Let me know if you have any other questions at all. Thanks :)
lingq import is terrible. Uploading e-books it uploads the table of contents and copyright as well, and deleting them requires each sentences of clicking. If you delete them early, the whole book will stick together. And the audio can not be too big, I have to cut it , copy a chapter text together to the web page upload. Because the Ai-to-text experience is terrible, I hope you can improve the mobile experience. If I need to turn on my computer to have a slightly better experience, why don't I just listen to an audio book😅
In the browser version of LINGQ, only three meanings are shown in the Popular Meanings section. I want to show many meanings in this section. How to do that ?
Hi there, if you select "Manage" in the translation popup you will see a list of dictionaries. Selecting more dictionaries will allow for more translations. I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions at all. Thanks.
@@hiira2562 Hmm, that's no good. I will pass this on and we will get it fixed. To confirm, you added more dictionaries and still only three meanings show? Thanks.
This is a fantastic update all around. Really like the time studied metric (I definitely was over estimating this before). Only suggestion, could you add a separate time spent reading metric? Would help differentiate reading from watching / listening.
I love this. I have being using lingq for some time now and I can see that this is really the future. where you an learn any language because all the resources are there for you and you only have to plan and execute your language learning project however you see fit. love the good work. I would suggest a flashcard part where one can change a video or whatever content to flashcards
