At first we just changed the bellhouse to a zz and and I think we used ae92 shafts and when we made the car wider in front we used carina e (st191) shafts. Later we put in the Corolla 2zz gear box and shafts.
Thanks. Did you use the power steering pump from the 2zz or the factory ae92 pump? I'm sure I'll have more to ask soon. I'm hoping to start in the next few days or weeks. I've got the engine with all accessories, ecu, engine loom, interior loom and a 1zz gearbox to swap the bell housing to my c56 gearbox. To simplify I thought I would use the 5spd and maybe or maybe not upgrade to the 6spd later I've also got the exhaust section, cat included with the o2 sensor, radiator and the throttle cable. Is there anything else you can think of I'll need?
We used the power steering pump from the 2zz celica. Was a long time ago we did this swap but sounds like you got the parts you need. Custom headers and right engine mount is also requierd, and some wiring. Is it a street car or race car?
Haha yeah I'm looking at wiring at the moment, I've got a good idea of what needs doing but I'm sure I will have some questions on that. Did you use a custom engine mount on the pulley side or one from another car? Did the power steering lines from the ae92 fit on to the pump or were they custom? It's going to be a street car with occasional track use.
Engine mount is custom made. At first we didn’t have power steering and probably thrown the lines away so it was custom lines to. Do you have a mail? I can send some pictures on the right engine mount if you want.
both are slow then E90, The "2 fast 4 you" he think he is fast.... but... E90 is really fast.... :) jut not have room for pass.... "2 fast 4 you" no give you room...she so funny racer....
nice ride! I have 90 Toyota Corolla wagon fwd with a 4afe engine. I want to do 2zz, along with a upgraded suspension. a). do you have a write up for the 2zz sawp and b). what suspension do you recommend for track performance?
Out of curiosity, how did you hook up the rev counter to work with the ECU? Me and a friend are doing a swap project with an AE92 but we can't get the rev counter to work with the ECU tacho feed.
You have basically made the negative to the K24 swapped 90's Civic positive, and I am SO in love. Somewhere down the road, I might take your guys ingenuity as inspiration. AE101 Sedan chassis + lightly breathed on 2ZZ-GE = Ultimate sleeper. Also equals the potential of 3 very terrified passengers! 😂 How's the hood clearance? We're you able to use the stock ECU or did you have to spring for a standalone?
Daniel Gomez Yes, still powered by the 2ZZGE. Regulations allows 2.0 liters in the series we're running but the 1.8 2ZZ has proven itself to put up a good fight against other cars with bigger engine displacement.
well, gear ratio is same in this vid as on the air firld vid but here we run a kaaz lsd which works great on track and let us get on the power earlier through turns which made all the difference! we use brake bias here as well and better brakes, and some new geometry to the chassie which made the balance much better.
yeah it's a lazy overdrive 6th gear for road use. In this video the gearbox is a stock ae111 6speed, engine is a stock 2zz-ge with custom 4-2-1 extractor. Brakes are willwood 4-pistons in front and stock rear and k-sport coilovers.
Hey man sweet ae, I'm thinking of putting a zz on my 93 e100 how much is your car putting down and what diff are you using if you are using one I know the car has power I just don't want to make the mistake of putting in power and only spinning one tire lol :D
gear ratios sound different to first vid I watched of the shake down run at the airfield? Thanks for the shots in this vid of the suspension etc, nice build. how do you find it on turn in and getting the power down early? Are you running brake bias adjust? it seemed fairly balanced but with some snatch oversteer to understeer= busy driver :-D
nice build, nice speed on hell long straight, but was that a lazy overdrive 5th that you changed to just before coming off throttle? gee with a 1:1 5th or a diff gear change you could make some serious inroads to mid to top end acceleration!! what are the mods to engine,g.box, suspension and brakes to date? good to hear st191 shafts fit but they must get a hard life with the torque from this engine.
Hi, we run alcon 4-pot calipers with 295x28 alcon discs in front and wilwood 4-pot calipers with OEM yaris(06-11) rear discs and motul rbf600 brake fluid
I just rebuilt a 2ZZGE for a friend with a looong list of goodies! Monkeywrenchracing parts: Knife-edged & Lightened Crank, Crower Rods, Mahle Pistons(12.5:1cr), modified head with flat faced valves, upgraded springs and retainers, Piper stage 2 Cams, etc.
