I am Amanda Wilson, a World Cup showjumper, wild horse trainer, horse starter, jumping coach and human trauma coach, based in New Zealand.
I specialise in helping horses and humans overcome stress and trauma by utilising almost a decade of study on how stress and past traumatic experiences effects us and how to overcome it!
I want to share my journey as I work towards some big goals to one day represent New Zealand on the world stage in showjumping, as well as progressing towards being the best horse woman I can be.
There are many highs and many lows in the sport and many times we don’t get to see the behind the scenes, so I hope to give you some insight into what happens here at Blackstone Farm, what it takes to pursue a career at top level, how to handle the many failures and mistakes along the way and lots more.
Thanks for popping in and I hope you can find some of this content relatable!
Hey dude! I just stumbled across this video and wanted to say how excited I am! I didn’t realise you had a channel over here, and was delighted to see you in my recommended. I adored reading the biography-esque books that your sister wrote, and can’t wait to see how this series goes. I’ve been occasionally (and a bit rustily/nervily) mucking around with a 5yo warmblood (pretty chilled out for his age), Monty, that has the basic basics down. My uncle has been trying to get him going in a more dressage-focused direction, but from my understanding, Mr Monty doesn’t have the dressage spark. Hence why I am very excited to see what this series has, hoping this will help me understand and learn a bit more about horsemanship, so I can be more helpful in either figuring out what Monty enjoys and then helping to produce him in that, or in building a solid foundation and producing him as an adult riding club/allrounder horse. Looking forward to seeing what you cover, and if you have any tips around building balance- for both horse and rider :)
That is such a commitment and then to share it with everyone is amazing. Your openness and honesty is second banana I really appreciate that about you and your commitment to the horses unbelievable thank you so much Amanda
When my children were growing up I hung a poster on the toilet door so they couldn't miss reading & thinking about it. It said "Dreams come true for those who work while they dream". I still think of that when getting fed up with my projects and it spurs me on. I'm 71.
It was so awesome to watch your demos and clinics at Equifest! So much fun and I can't wait for next year :) Thank you so much for these videos Amanda they are so insightful, educational and fun to watch
If you could see me right now I got a big smile on my face and I giggle through that video it was cute and very fun I can't wait to see what you signed up for I think you said anyway keep up the good work but don't work too hard you always got to take time for yourself thank you again Amanda
Not that you need my rubber stamp or anything but I too believe you did the best at road to the horse your horse seem to calmest and most easy going horse you could tell he wanted to learn just as bad as you wanted to teach. I already love your new channel I can't wait for what's coming next I know I have much to learn even though I no longer have horses I'm still learning from what you have to teach it applies to all parts of life I feel thank you so much for what you've been sharing keep up the good work look forward to the next one thank you so much Amanda
Good on you Amanda for sharing your experence and expertise. The Mental Health aspect of dealing with failure and challenge is so important and it sounds like what you plan to share will be really valuable for many. Looking forward to following along. ❤️
