Modern woodworking, using lasers and CNC to make cool projects.
This channel is about maximizing your potential in your garage shop, to build a side hustle business, and build cool projects. I use a lot of power tools to create modern woodworking pieces incorporating the laser and CNC in my builds. I hope you enjoy the content, and I love reading and responding to viewer comments. Interaction with the content and potential dad jokes are highly encouraged.

Thanks for the video, very informative. I was going to go with a less expensive CO2 blue and white machine, but have decided that Thunder is probably a better way to go. I wish the bed was larger, but I think it will get me started with everything I planning on doing.
It's a nice laser if you're looking into working with thin wood/acrylic or just engraving. Trying to cut 1/4" or 3/8" will take multiple cuts / longer times. The more powerful Bolt's are way overpriced compared to higher powered CO2 Tube lasers.
For the leds to reflect the light proportionately across the circle, your frame thickness need to be at least 1inch. Instead of cutting the circles and gluing them you could bend a black/white strip of 1 inch in round shape.
On the Thunder Bolt laser how large of a wood cereal bowl can be engraved on its side using the ROKU Twister tray and a PiBurn Grip chuck rotary? Can the rotary be placed directly on the crumb tray to gain Z depth without the ROKO, or can the crumb tray be removed and the rotary put right on the surface below the crumb tray rail? I’m trying to figure out what the maximum Z depth is that I can get using a rotary. I don’t want to spend almost twice the money on the Bolt Pro 22 with its deeper Z depth.
The cutting speed isn't as fast as I'd hoped, and the overall reliability feels lacking compared to other brands I've used in the past. It's not a complete write-off, but I've had to spend more time troubleshooting and adjusting than I'd like.
Awesome stuff! Thanks for sharing! 😄 Quick tip! If you make the back enclosure a bit deeper, point the led ring inwards and then add an opaque/frosted acrylic behind the top layer, it would diffuse the light better and you wouldn't see the LED ring. This way you can evenly distribute the light through the front face. Either way, cool piece! 🚀
My bucket list includes an RF laser. Great walk through of the laser, Matt. I had no idea an RF laser has all of those features. Not to mention plug and play right out of the box. I don't even need to buy a exhaust fan or a hose.
Great, very informative video on the Thunder Bolt! I have been softly looking at a CO2 but kind of passed over the RF because of the up front higher cost. Now that you explained the long term math, I may need to reconsider. Nice to see some proof of life by the way. Been thinking of you lately. Great to see you back on YT.
Just found you and with just one video I know I’ll learn so much from you! My D1 Pro 20w is out of the box and assembled but that’s as far as I’ve gotten.
I have apparently lost nearly all ability to use the internet. Can you please tell me what the assembled dimensions of the entire unit are with the basic conveyor system? I have one on the way and am trying to get my space ready. Thank you.
I look forward to seeing the speed difference that is what has really caught my eye. Also the batch engraving. I am wondering though it as portable as the F1 or is better as stationary work station.
The F1 can do 90% of what was shown in this video...If you are into embossing and deep engravings that take forever the Ultra is for you...If you own already an F1, I suggest you buy a fiber laser for less than what the Ultra costs...RU-vid influencers are not paid moneywise but are gifted a free machine in exchange for a positive review, and not an honest review...I would wait before buying a pricey machine like this, wait for someone who will give an honest review...
While I receive machines for my review, they are honest reviews. Check out other videos on my channel where I received a machine that isn't as good as others. This machine in particular is fantastic, and people don't need to use my link for me to say that.
Laser projects - looking into laser engraving as a side hustle while I’m in nursing school, but don’t know where to start. Thank you for the video, I love the sign!!
I just purchased the 20 W version. I was curious can I do cowhide that has little tiny hair on it? I have a potential buyer… but I need to do more research into it. Thanks for your videos
I haven't tried that type of leather, and the thing I would worry about is the hair catching fire. For this type of thing a closed system like the S1 or P2 would probably be best, unless you get the enclosure and flame system for the D1. I have a hard time recommending the D1 since the newer lasers have been coming out with full enclosures at a reasonable price.
Just assembled an M1000 and trying to tram it using SST tool similar to yours. What tips could you suggest for adjusting/stabilizing the x-gantry during tramming, assuming tramming it from the x-gantry like Stepcraft suggested?
Hi, can it engrave a perfume bottle? I am having a Department store wanting to do an engraving event, and wanted to know if I can take the F1Ultra with me to do such an event?
