Just tried a bottle in China. Occasionally found at Supermarket. Never seen beer like this before. Costs around 35USD here. The first sip is strange, but the second seems to become better and better. But definitely needs some meat maybe a steak or a hamon.
I've enjoyed watching your videos for a number of years. I recently found out that Greg Puckett of Greg's Beer Reviews passed away. I started watching his videos in 2010.
Watching this now in 2024 is wild considering how creativity and style variety is completely lacking in craft beer today. I miss the days when breweries were pushing new inovations in beer and creating new and unique experiences. Now, when you go to the ''craft beer'' store it's just row after row of canned IPAs.
I disagree. There are perfect beers that exist. *2013 “deschutes- Abyss” *2013 “Sierra Nevada-Ovila” *Year round “Revisions “Dr Lupilin triple IPA” *2012-2015 “Sierra Nevada-Bigfoot” *Year Round “ Anderson Valley-Huge Arker” *Year Round “Stone-whoot stout” *Year Round “DogfishHead-Super 8 Gose” *Year Round “Roadhouse-Siren Song Strong Ale” ….Anything from Roadhouse out of Jackson hole Wyoming - they are my fav ……the list goes on and on….also “anchorage” brewery is killing it right now
I managed at a brewpub in Alaska, and this was our top selling beer outside of our own brews. It's really a fantastic beer. I still haven't had a better Hefeweizen.
Always loved your channel, so this changes nothing because you're entitled to you opinion. Looking back on this moment, the consequences have been profound and not good. It opened the door for trans, pushing pride in school on children, changing of pronouns, destruction of feminism, and forced coercion for all things and letters LGBTQIA+. It was never about marriage and equality it was about culture change and mandated conformity of those with a different worldview. Glad you think your subjective opinions should be forced on others that have different beliefs.
The great thing is that new hops are being found and used today, remember when it was only “C” hops? Now New Zealand and Australian, Simco hops, my favorite, all this experimental hops too, that become the norm, cryo-hops as well, no shortage I predict
My nose must be out of order! Have never noticed the aromas these beer experts keep talking about, Banana; Spicy? Peppery? What I notice is the taste, some beers are more bitter than others in the after taste. Weizen beer has what I call a "MALTY TASTE" too it. Anyway Franziskaner is a great beer, Love it.
TBH i would save a lot of time by pouring water into the bucket and doing the first step there by basically waiting 30 minutes for the stuff to collect in the button THEN collect into the jars
I am Belgian and think that if these beers cost more than 10 dollar elsewhere, then perhaps a lot of expectations might come and then.. disappointment in reality if they are served wrong. These beers should not be served very cold but sometimes it happens and then it's nothing that would win a price.
So cool. Thanks so much for posting this vid. It's gonna help me save some cash for sure, especially for those more expensive yeast I use from time to time🍻
Great review! I enjoyed a 2015 vintage of this saison this evening. Amazing, so good. I don't know if anyone is aging saisons this long, but it works with this craft brew. cheers!
Doesn’t make sense to judge this beer and think of it in terms of modern beer. Because its not supposed to taste like modern beer. Its part if the “ancient ales” series. These beers were recreated down to the T. Its absolutely different and not to mention incredibly expensive and difficult to make. Hence the shelf price. Without dogfishhead you would never know what the ancient Egyptians were getting buzzed on while building pyramids. I think its a great “beer” from the point of pure perspective. Which unfortunately this review seems to be lacking.
