Quite a few games I've never even heard of such as Satan's Hallow, Kangaroo and Front Line, but the classic stuff like Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man and the Galaxian types are familiar. Other ones that I remember from holidays in Spain are Kung-Fu Master, Track & Field and especially Pengo. The correct spelling is '80s or 80s BTW, not 80's.
Red Clash, Cosmic Alien, Fire Fox on Laser Disc,Mad Alien, Super Cobra, Scramble, Space Dual ,Asteroids in all its versions, Super Bug , Red Baron ,Sheriff. There was also a driving game in 1980 in Australia that was the precursor to TURBO that I played .Also a futuristic Motor cycle game in 1985 that I can't remember the name of but it resembled wipe out I think. Also Speed Race but that was mid 70's on a green monitor/ screen.
I was about 30/35 and had (wasted) multiple quarters playing some game where you shoot at stuff dropping bombs at you. Some kid (a kid, a real kid) beat some game and it was playing some ending tune and I asked him.... how did you do that. Seriously, he said.... your too old to understand. I gave the last of my quarters to the kid and left. That is the sad truth.
Elevator Action, Shinobi, Gyruss were among my favorites. Super Thunder Blade for a flying game. But. One of the games I had the most fun with on Saturday mornings at a place called Herbs Arcade was Tecmo Bowl arcade game. So much fun.
My man - as a middle aged fossil (knocking on the door of 50) I can tell you I was already a teenager when it was 1990. The arcade was the only reason to go to a mall. Not going to shit on you - but you left off Winding Heat (better than some one this list), Stunt Driving featuring an actual clutch with manual and one I cannot think of the name.... rally style game but the cars all had canons mounted on the front that could slow down cars ahead - it also had motion captured flag girls. What was the name?
Oh yes Stunt Driving, I forgot about that one! Thank you buddy! Yes, I remember playing that game maybe a few times, location was no where close to home where I encountered it. It was like driving a real car with manual transmission. Believe I had the game also on my Amiga home computer back in the 90s. As for the rally style game, not sure about that one. Only one I can think of its Road Blasters, but that game is 1987 and not rally style. Hope someone else can chime in.
My best friend in elementary school and I walked down to the local bar after school and played Shinobi for hours on end. The cops were called a couple of times because our parents didn't know where we were. Then, in the early 90s, my high school got a Shinobi cabinet. Needless to say, the older kids got first crack and I learned by watching them until eventually, I was able to beat it. One of the older kids I learned from actually went on to win an Oscar several years ago, for behind the scene work. He's not an actor.
I'll never forget the feeling of walking into an arcade when I was a kid and hearing the Daytona USA machine, stuck out in some far away back corner, still screaming out louder than every other machine "DAY-TOOO-NAAAAAAA"
@@80sClassicArcade Yessir! It was even more fun when everyone knew the manual transmission 4-3-2-3 drift trick. You want a crazy 80s Arcade racing experience though, look up the Hard Drivin' (it was, I believe, also called Race Drivin') cabinet. It was meant to accurately emulate everything about driving a real sports car. In 1990, this game had realistic force feedback and a 4sp manual transmission who's clutch pedal needed to be pressed before turning the key to start the car. Now THAT is a racing game.
It would be so cool if they rereleased these classic Michael Jackson games and made remakes. With the technology these days the remakes would be fantastic!!! And they could put them together in the same collection like they’ve done for Castlevainia. So glad we can see these games 👍
Actually, I played Satan's Hallow after school at a local candy shop. At this place we always had a choice of 4 games. They used to rotate the selection based on the latest releases as well was whatever was the most money maker out there.
As a kid I would have killed to be able to reach an arcade on foot or bicycle from home or school... Maybe just once a month I could get a ride to the nearest mall to go to the arcade... Now living in Japan it's hard not to stumble upon any number of arcades including retro ones with these games, and I admit I go more than monthly!
@@80sClassicArcade That one isn't bad, but the big glitzy ones are kind of the same as everywhere in Japan. You need to hit the small gritty ones in the side alleys run by crusty old guys who have been there for decades 😂
Those sound like the good ones! Even here in the USA, back in the 80s, even the small little shops had great titles that you would see in the larger arcades.
Classics! More games need good levels based off a track besides M.J. we got Rob Zombie in Twisted Metal at least part 1! Any more please enlighten me, I'm sure there's more but I've been 'out of the loop' Since Game Pro and Electronics Gaming Monthly, Nintendo, and Game Informer were in print when Game Stop was ELECTRONICS BOUTIQUE or just EB later. Ahh the good old days WHEN GAMES WERE FINISHED with exception to I believe Sonic CD. DLC WASN'T A THING YOU HAD TO BUY A WHOLE NEW GAME called a sequel or prequel depending on ideas.
Indeed, those were the days! I used to get a slice a pizza and a drink and have .25 left for a game. Hardest choice was what should I play? Ms Pac, Centipede, Popeye, DK Jr., Mario Bros.,. Challenge was if I wanted to play Dragon's Lair it's .50
We had it great. The music the movies. Most of all the games. A lot of great memories. I used to stop by 7-11 on the way home from school. Have about 2 bucks. Get a big gulp or a slurpee and use what I had left to play games. Man those were great times. We’d play basketball at day time or ride bikes and video games at night. All night.
Thanks for your comment! Yes, Freedom Fighter is defiantly a game that should have made this list. I'll have to make a separate video someday to showcase it.
Thanks for the comment! The focus of this video was to showcase the gameplay and mechanics of these classic multiplayer arcade games. While I didn’t include footage of multiple players simultaneously, I wanted to highlight what makes each game unique and why they’re great for multiplayer fun.
These are good videos, but it really might be a good idea to change the series name to just "Top 10 Arcade Games" instead of "Top 10 80's Arcade Games" since you're using games from other decades. This particular vid didn't have a single 80s game in it.
You read my mind ;-) - I was just thinking of this last night. Title and thumbnail now reflects 80s, 90s, 2000s - Stay tuned for a 90s only Trackball video coming up in the future. Thanks for watching!
Yeah great game! I didn't finish Arcade either. However, I did complete the NES version back in the day. Took an all nighter with me and friends to get to the real ending.
Yes, both are indeed classics! Renegade is featured in "Retro Rumble: Top 10 Beat 'em Up Arcade Games" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3oYKTutVyTU.html and Arkanoid will be included in an upcoming video! Thanks for asking! This video is not inclusive of "all" Golden Age games it touches on some of the most iconic games throughout those years. Any list is subject however, these were the ones I selected to include to represent this age.
Yes, indeed.. Outrun was one of my favorites for racing games in the 80s. Played it in the arcades and home on the Commodore 64 and Amiga back in the day. Loved it!
Agree vs. Wild Gunman is a great LG game! But still Nintendo vs. LG games did have 3 places on the list :-) - I'm sure the NES version will be included on any NES console LG Top 10

*like.
