I'll never forget the feeling of walking into an arcade when I was a kid and hearing the Daytona USA machine, stuck out in some far away back corner, still screaming out louder than every other machine "DAY-TOOO-NAAAAAAA"

Yes, my favorite arcade racer! I remember multiple units linked together, those were the best races. 4 players!

@@80sClassicArcade Yessir! It was even more fun when everyone knew the manual transmission 4-3-2-3 drift trick. You want a crazy 80s Arcade racing experience though, look up the Hard Drivin' (it was, I believe, also called Race Drivin') cabinet. It was meant to accurately emulate everything about driving a real sports car. In 1990, this game had realistic force feedback and a 4sp manual transmission who's clutch pedal needed to be pressed before turning the key to start the car. Now THAT is a racing game.

My man - as a middle aged fossil (knocking on the door of 50) I can tell you I was already a teenager when it was 1990. The arcade was the only reason to go to a mall. Not going to shit on you - but you left off Winding Heat (better than some one this list), Stunt Driving featuring an actual clutch with manual and one I cannot think of the name.... rally style game but the cars all had canons mounted on the front that could slow down cars ahead - it also had motion captured flag girls. What was the name?

Oh yes Stunt Driving, I forgot about that one! Thank you buddy! Yes, I remember playing that game maybe a few times, location was no where close to home where I encountered it. It was like driving a real car with manual transmission. Believe I had the game also on my Amiga home computer back in the 90s. As for the rally style game, not sure about that one. Only one I can think of its Road Blasters, but that game is 1987 and not rally style. Hope someone else can chime in.
