Welcome to my channel. It's a chinwag! Time to spend together to relax and hopefully learn a bit about nature, crafting and sharing some stories with Pete and Mum. There will be some counselling too that you may find helpful. Oh and sometimes a poem, cooking and short film at the end.
I loved seeing you today, Pene, and everything that you shared with us! Your knits are lovely and great grandkids are adorable. 😍 I'm really enjoying your story. You have a talent for writing.
OK, my cuff must have brushed the send button again. I also wanted to mention how much I enjoyed seeing the great-grands in their sweaters, too. I again am in awe of your work on the blue and golden quilt and the entire color pallette. What a treasure! Your memories match so much of mine, even from a distance. This is an episode with so much content I am sure to watch it again. 💕
I love your EPP quilt l am doing the same one in Liberty London Parks fabric, unfortunately mine is very slow going! Always look forward to your podcasts ♥️🧶
As usual, I saved this for Friday evening my time, but then got distracted from writing a comment by my knitting efforts, so didn't get to it until now. Your new sweater is so beautiful and fits you so perfectly!
Hi Penelope hope you an Pete are keeping well Your jumper looks lovely ! an your grandchildrens cardi an jacket beautiful an what can I say about your quilt is stunning you are so gifted I love everything you do bless you ❤x
Hi Pene, another lovely blog. Your jumper has turned out great, fits so good, well done. The squares you have made for the quilt are so interesting and personal, it will be fantastic when completed. The other quilt which you are ready to quilt is beautiful. I would find it difficult to combine so many different patterns, but you have done it perfectly. It's so good to knit for family, especially little ones, and seeing Tommy knitting made me smile. I remember the time when there was a conductor and a driver on every bus, and they were often full. You had to keep your ticket ready in case an inspector got on and checked everyone's ticket, which they often did. Glad your break was good. Happy crafting
Lovely podcast, great memories invoked. My best friend Christine's mum used to butter the bread before cutting off the slice. She also used to give us chips for breakfast if I was there before school. Thank you. Jane
Hello Pene! The children’s cardigans are so cute and your jumper is lovely! Your quilt is so pretty, I look forward to seeing it completed! I always enjoy spending time with you and I am so glad I found your channel! Take care.
Hello Pene, I just love your story quilt with all the different boxes of joy and memories. How wonderful Your story reminded me that my friend's mother used to butter bread in the same way, holding the loaf under her arm sort of then buttering it before using a sharp bread knife to cut perfect slices. And yes, when you are a child you can be inclined to think what other people do is better or an improvement on what happens at home etc but I wonder if that is more about the novelty of seeing something different. I was a very shy child outside of my own close family and friends so kept quiet but observed everything going on. 😘
A lovely vlog Penny. All your beautiful things you have made. 😍 I can remember my Nan buttering and slicing a loaf like that tucking it under her ample bosom 😆
Oh Penny thank you for reigniting so many memories. I remember well the plastic Daz flowers. I lived by the sea where it was difficult to grow flowers because of high winds & the like. There was a house which had loads of plastic flowers in the front garden. My grandma wore similar knickers, pink sateen as well. I remember mum & gran ordering “long johns” from Brentford nylons during the long cold winter we had in the 60’s. Loved also the simple games Tommy plays with you he will probably recount those when he’s as old as us! Wonderful. Happy crafting Dianne 🧶 x
Hi Penny I have goggled the book and found a copy at Yarn loft so ordered a copy. There are so many beautiful patterns in the book. This is my birthday treat to me 😂😂
@@penelopeschinwag yes they had just one left. I can understand what you are saying regards your hands my arthritis is really bad at the moment and just hope it will settle down soon managing only about 15 minutes at a time. Thank you Penny
Thanks Sheryl, Hoping to get the quilt finished over the winter, it will be warm and cosy whilst I do it. The great grans keep me going! See you soon and thanks for joining me. xx
Hi Pene, The kids are sleeping and I'm finally here visiting with you while knitting on my socks. It's been so lovely to see your beautiful great grandchildren and your makes! Oh Tommy is so cute! Oh what fond memories you both will have now of being together! And your quilt is absolutely stunning! I love 6 the big squares that go so well with the rest of it! Beautiful work! I also smiled while listening to your story... oh how times have changed! Oh and by the way, kids still do play with beads in jars :) Mine do :) Thank you so much for sharing yuor crafty story and your wonderful family moments with us. Have a lovely week! Cheers from New Zealand, Marina
Thanks so much Marina, hope you've had a lovely day. Its nine o'clock here and I'm up and about and the sun is shining. What a blessing. I was so touched that Tommy loved his cardy so much and wanted to knit me a poncho. He's off to the Natural History Museum in London with his mum and dad to see dinosaurs today! Times have changed as you say and I'm enjoying reconnecting to the fifties again. Glad to hear the beads and jar are still in use. Hope your business is taking off and you're enjoying spinning and dying and seeing other's makes. xx
Thanks Julie, There are a lot of great RU-vid channels teaching how to knit. Have a go and take it slow! The sea foam was mesmerising. See you soon and thanks for watching. xx
What a lovely unexpected end to my birthday! Just heading to bed, full of cake and happiness, and there you were adding just that much more goodness to the day. 😊 Tommy looked so handsome in his sweater. What a darling. Both your quilts will be stunning. It looks like the one you held up will go well with your couch. On screen the colors coordinate perfectly. And you look so lovely in your sweater and shawl! Thank you for another perfect podcast. Made my day. And yes, the plastic flowers in the mud to conjure up quite a picture. 😊
Morning Ronna, so pleased you enjoyed the episode. The quilt does look lovely in the conversatory, will be cosy quilting it. I still have a vivid memory of the garden! xx
The quilt as you go squares you have completed are beautiful. Each with it's own meaning and story. Then the EPP quilt is so lovely. I loved seeing Mila and Tommy, Mila's delight at her birthday present and Tommy doing his knitting. We are planning to visit Devon next year. I have booked an Airbnb in Tavistock where we will base ourselves and go out for days. Looking forward to catching up with you again next time. Take care xx
Well Mila is five at the end of November, not too far to go for her 5th. An unexpected gift through the post, always welcome! Hotel Endleigh is ten minutes away from Tavistock. A lovely place. See you soon. xx
@@penelopeschinwag I have made a note of the hotel name so it will be a visit on our list. A nice lunch and stroll through the gardens will be a real treat. xx
I'm not sure what to start with...everything was just lovely, the knitting...Ohhh! all beautiful. Your quilt is just gorgeous and the videos of such lovely places. You have given us so much to think over, thank you, loved every minute. Cant wait for the next one.
Your quilt is beautiful!. Your choice of fabrics and the layout is stunning! I'm a quilter, too! I loved the videos of your great grands. So sweet. Can't wait for your next video. They are all wonderful! Thank you from the west coast of the USA.
Your quilt is stunning. I'm so impressed how you figured it out incorporating the large framed squares into the chains of smaller squares. Well done. 😊
G’day Penne, woke to your latest video this morning 🍀 how lucky am I 🍀 another fun episode, love them all. Oh your quilting just beautiful. Love jumper you’re wearing too, laughed at Tommy saying too hard knitting with sticks 😂😂😂 just loved it all 😀. You look well Penne hoping Pete’s getting back to full health, take care looking forward to seeing you soon and hearing your chat. ⭐️⭐️⭐️🇦🇺
I should be asleep. It's half past midnight but for some reason Pete and I aren't tired! You have a lovely day to look forward to. Tommy warmed my heart today wanting to repay me for knitting him a jumper. He's trying so hard with his poncho! He's coming for tea on Monday and says we'll carry on then! Thanks for being there Carolyn. xx
How cute is Tommys cardigan it made me gasp when you held it up it’s truly lovely, and I still have the identical leather buttons from my brother’s cardigan very similar to Tommy’s from 1950’s. I think Tommy loves his Nanny Pene, his eyes have the look of Pete. A pretty little Mila modelled her lovely cardigan beautifully. You should be pleased with your jumper it’s gorgeous. What a talented lady you are, your quilt is fun like you say and it’s making you happy your smile says it all. I really enjoyed your story today. The colours in Dartmoor are breathtaking! You modelled your knitting like a pro 🧶 thank you😊
How lovely to have your brother's buttons. As Tommy walked away from modelling his jumper he said 'there's the bus' and it is my brother's bus from when he was small. Eyes say a lot don't they. I am so pleased with my jumper, the close fit makes it very comfortable and warm. As you know we love Dartmoor, I could pop there every week! Take care and see you soon. xx
Lovely video Pene! Tommy and Mila are such a delight and doesn't Tommy look like Pete! Your quilt is gorgeous and the knitting too, thank you for such an entertaining watch x
Hello Pene. I so look forward to your incredible vlogs. You are so creative! The quilt is exquisite-what fabric did you use for the top? I only started EPP recently, not a quilt yet..but one day. I am a social worker with those who are unhoused with mental health, substance use and trauma, doing outreach. Very busy, but love supporting others. Your videos and stories are amazing. Will you publish your book once complete? I would purchase. Thanks for creating a warming, calming, relaxing, fun and nurturing place for all of us in your sewing nook. Never stop your chinwags. All the best to you, Pete and your family from Ontario, Canada ❤❤
Hi, I'm afraid I don't know what the fabric is. No, no publishing, just something I did around the time of my training. Thanks for saying you would purchase! Never say never eh! Lovely words you found to describe my sewing nook, thanks. Your job sounds like you need a warm nurturing place. Love back to Ontario. xx
penelopeschinwag Thank you for your words Pene. You are an incredible person and it is like we are there having a natter..I grew up near Nottingham. Beautiful memories your family have. Wishing you all the best ❤
I thought your jumper turned out beautifully Pene .Tommys cardigan is beautiful too and a great colour. What a lovely child he his growing up to be .,and Mila too . How they appreciate your work is amazing and certainly keeps you busy. Looking forward to seeing your next project. Its what keeps me going .
How kind Gina. Yes I've been thinking that Tommy wanted to knit something for me in return and wanted me to turn the camera off so he could get on with it! Mila wants to learn to knit too. We'll see what George thinks of his - at one and a half I'm not sure he will realise. Take care. xx
Hi Pene, you popped up just as I was looking for something to watch. The children looked really cosie in their new nanny made cardigans. Tommy looks like a real character. I hope it's not too long before he finishes your poncho. Bet he enjoys gymnastics, too. Our granddaughter is a gymnast. She won a championship gold medal last weekend. She's 10 in a couple of weeks, growing up so quickly. I've been knitting on a glove whilst watching. It's the first time making a glove with fingers. Just the thumb to go. Then start the second! Have a lovely weekend, take care. Xx
Happy to keep you company tonight Angela. I'm waiting eagerly for the poncho (where did he get that from?) I've never knitted gloves but after seeing Helen's I want to have a go. I just came across a pattern I meant to knit a long time ago so after George's jumper I think they might be the next project. Take care. xx
@penelopeschinwag Helen inspired me to make the gloves. I found a Purl Soho free pattern. I had to play about with the gauge, but overall, it's been ok. X
Hi Glenda, the kids are great aren't they. I loved that Tommy was thrilled when he found a small ball of left over wool and wanted to knit me something as I had knitted him something. A kind boy. Not sure about a poncho though - I won't tell him! 😂
Hi Penelope Love all of your vlogs. Watching through all of them ❤ I do have a question- can you share what the pattern is for the swearer you are wearing in Episode 90 . I love the colour and the pattern and would like to make one. Thank you so much
Lovely to hear from you. Should you wish to comment for another episode you can comment under the episode. It comes up for me the same. I will see it. Anyway, I love the green cardigan (I hope that is the one you mean, cables and bobbles.). It is from a book called North by Kim Hargreaves published in 2014. I do have my knits for years! The pattern is called LOVELY.
@@penelopeschinwag yes that is the cardigan , thank you for letting me know about commenting on the episode. I didn’t know about that. Next time I will . I will look on Ravelry to see if I can find the pattern. And I’m going to try and find wool in same colour as you used. It’s beautiful. Have a great evening. Kathy
@@penelopeschinwag No luck finding pattern . Ravelry shows the pattern but no way to purchase. So I googled to see if I could find anywhere but no such luck. I can keep searching I’m wondering if I contact direct to ROWAN or if KIM has a website? I will keep searching. I will be watching your vlog for the wool information. Looking forward❤️
Beautiful!!! Just rewatched your lovely video and enjoyed moments that I missed the first time. I wish that I knew you during our time staying at home, great fun!
At last I’ve caught up with this episode! As soon as I saw the completed I-spy quilt I had the same reaction as you: “I want one!” So maybe… Thanks Pene x
I really love your videos of the ocean it is so beautiful, and all the flowers and other things are just amazing, your music is so restful what a great job you do. Thank you so much. Have a wonderful week, your friend Linda W. I am so very glad we have met it makes me very happy. ❤❤☺️
Hi my friend , love this video, the holly hobby pieces are so gorgeous I love all the things you are doing. I know you can get it all done. You are such a beautiful person so warm and kind. God Bless you. Love your work. You really inspire me and that’s great. Take care. ❤❤🥰
The quilts are all so beautiful you always do an amazing job, I never could knit really well, was always afraid of making a mistake and never could fix it. I do try and make something easy. You enjoy your day, and I will be watching for the next video. Take care. ❤❤🥰
