For me, mindful living is all about living with purpose and intention. Simplifying, living in the moment, and finding joy in the ordinary. It’s about slowing down, listening to your inner voice, going back to your roots, and allowing yourself to truly blossom and grow✨
My balcony is south-east facing. I get full sun all day basically, but one half of the balcony becomes shaded in the afternoon time, which is where I grow my lettuce plants and other leafy greens. They get anywhere from 4-5 hours of sunlight (morning sun followed by afternoon shade) depending on the time of year it is.
It’s looking great! Your cucumbers look well! You definitely have a green thumb. We had a lot of crazy downpours here in NE Ohio that turned most of my cucumber leaves yellow. 😢
@@user-fk2ds9sp5i thank you!! 🫶🏻🌱 sorry to hear about the rain, I’ve had a few days of heavy rain recently but all my plants seem to be holding up okay! 🤞🏻
so helpful thank you! when you mention companion planting- can you plant some of those herbs in the same containers as the vegetables or in separate containers in the vicinity of of one another? ( example basil in same planter as tomatoes ?) thanks!
Thanks so much!! ☺️🫶🏻 if your plants are turning yellow and the soil feels moist, it’s typically caused by overwatering and providing too much water. If the leaves are turning yellow with brown tips, it could mean your plants don’t have enough water. I like to check using my fingers, simply stick your finger into the container a few inches deep and check the soil moisture. Only water when the top 2 inches feel dry to the touch.
Thanks so much!! 😊🌱 every year is different in my garden and comes with different challenges but it’s such a rewarding process to grow your own food! I hope you try again and wishing you great success!
Love your videos ! I just started watching and it’s so nice to see someone actually gardening in a small space and on a budget . I am so confused on the math for spacing , the back of my arugula seeds say it needs 12 inches between rows, so I thought that meant only one plant per 12 inch container? I can see you have a lot more than that
Thanks so much!! I so appreciate that☺️🫶🏻 When growing in containers you can space your arugula seeds about 2 to 3 inches apart. The plants won’t grow as big but you will still get lots of leaves to harvest! This video is from a few years ago, but I still grow my arugula like this to this day! I typically like to plant about six to eight plants in one long container, and they have always grown really well even when spaced closer together.
Thank you ! I have the soil in a long container and am going to plant the seeds tomorrow . You explain everything so well and I love the layout of your channel😊😊 thank you for your reply
I am really appreciating watching your videos as I am just starting out with a balcony garden. I have found them to be very upbeat, informative, and soothing. I'm working my way through your gardening playlist. Thanks so much for all the work you've done to share this information. I also wanted to say that you can eat kale stems! I eat them all of the time and they are great. I cut the leaves off (can also do this by slicing down along the stalk, so that it more cleanly separates the leaves from the kale) and chop the stalks small separately. I then add them to a soup/sautée/roasted veg tray earlier than the leaves to allow them to soften more.
Thanks so much!! 😊🌱 I think the green stalk vertical planters are awesome! But personally, I don’t know if I’d be willing to spend that, maybe one day! Haha
Hi there! Thanks so much! 😊 For peppers I would recommend between a 3 to 5 gallon container. Honestly, the bigger the container the better, as it will reduce how often you need to water your plants!
Hi there! Thanks for your comment 😊 Almost all of my containers I purchased from the dollar store actually, they are very inexpensive containers and I’ve used them for over four years now with no complaints. The square and round containers which are larger (and a little more costly) I purchased from Canadian Tire which is a hardware store here in Canada where I am located. I recommend checking your local dollar store or gardening centre and try to get them on sale if possible!
