Helpful tips and ideas on how to improve your lawn and add curb appeal to your home. For beginners, weekend warriors, or lawn care nuts like me, there is something for everyone.
You are giving dangerous wrong information. You are totally covering up the root collar and killing trees. Those root collars need to be exposed. Not covered up with mulch!
I just finish leveling the front of my lawn with a sand and compose mix. And just like you mentioned I also had deep dips in my lawn that needed more of the mix and had to plant Bermuda seed down so now I’m waiting for everything to grow. I hope it was worth it!
I am experiencing difficulties in maintaining the verdure of my lateral lawn due to its constant exposure to the sun's intense heat throughout the day. As a result, I typically employ the highest deck setting on my Hustler Fast Track 36-inch mower when cutting the grass. I would like to know if this is the recommended approach.
I went with very similar up. The only difference is I wanted the PVC to roll so I drilled 1/2” holes in end caps, ran rod through it, slipped eye bolts over end of rod, added a pipe cap to keep eyebolt steady and connected (2) 1” wide pieces of flat steel to each eyebolt. This meets to a point (V shape) and attaches to my zero turn.
Hello I have seen many lawn videos but you are the most practical and relatable. I have come to a conclusion that I only need your videos to answer my questions. So I know when you post a video I know I will get some more information. You are always to the point and sensible. I just want to thank you and let you know your videos are truly enjoyable 👌🏻
I was gonna say that when using a zero turn, make sure you full throttle it mowing and just before the end of your stripe, pull back so it brakes quickly making an awesome skid, then throw the handles opposite directions to quickly pivot turn creating that perfect 2x2 tear mark at the end of each line. 😛
Viewerr Suggestion: When you do make the striper, make sure you cut your pvc tube the width of your mowers cutting width for best results. If you have a 42 in wide cutting deck cut your pipe 42 or 44" so you overlap stripes

I have zoysia. zoysia is not available in seed. you can go much deeper with sand topcoat than 1/2-in with zoysia. zoysia sends rhizomes through the sand. zoysia covers bare sand spots within one growing season with ample watering.
What an awesome channel! Excellent advice, you definitely know your grass. I'm curious do you have a background in turfgrass management or maybe the golf course industry?
Thank you so much! Actually, I don't have a background in either. I'm a full time teacher but I have a passion for turf grass and, what I've learned over the years, I like to share on my channel!
Made the mistake of getting one at Costco. Spot on video. I used aeration tool (Corona MAX YardBREATHER Aerator from Home Depot) and manually fed the holes. Did Ok, but reg seed would have done exponentially better, for a far larger area. Should have checked blogs first. Lesson learned. Thx
I have a heavy chain. I could be used to tow a car. Could I hook this chain to my self propelled mower and use it to stripe the lawn? Would that work? Thoughts?
Nice, I would setup a fertilizer injection kit, then you can fertilizer the same time you water with the turn of a valve. Saves a bunch of time especially if you do a lot of foliar applications like I do.
Just an FYI, at the risk of being a dark cloud in the sunny post stream. And let me first preface by saying that I believe this is an absolutely ridiculous idea in most areas… Setting up rain barrels, or otherwise capturing rainwater in many areas of the country is considered “rain harvesting.” In those areas you will either need a permit, an inspection, or it is all out illegal. I believe the theory that such governmental groups use is that if everybody were to do it, it could adversely affect the water table in negative sense. Again, just an FYI, so that if you live in one of those areas, you don’t get bit in the backside unexpectedly.
You mention one third a time, and slowly get the grass down to the measurement you like. How long should you wait before you cut another one third off it please? Thank you
Thanks for the comment! During the growing season, I run the sprinklers usually twice a week unless we have rain that week. If I run it too much, I start to get fungus and lawn disease.
