Realmente demostró indiscutiblemente superior a Rubén.
Navarro took this fight on TWO DAYS notice! Mando Ramos was supposed to fight Buchanan but had to bow out at last minute due to injury. Navarro was one of many top-tier local lightweights who was in training anyway, and they hastily arranged for Navarro to take Mando's place. Navarro was doing ROAD WORK the day of the fight...unheard of stuff! Ruben started well and scored the early knockdown but predictably tired late in the fight. Buchanan was a master boxer and this was a pretty good show, at least until about midway in the fight when Buchanan began to take control...
A great fight. Two pound per pound all time greats. Ironically, both men are the best fighters of their own countries: Fighting Harada (Japan) and Eder Jofre (Brazil) Both of them are top 100 all time pound per pound. They were two magnificent fighters. I believe that Harada has the edge on this fight because he was the busiest of the two. But, Jofre threw the cleaner shots. I think that Harada learned his hard earned lesson when he fought Jose Medel of Mexico in '63 when he wanted to be hooking with a hooker. Medel knocked him out in six. This time, he boxed around Jofre, using lateral movement and speed. I think that Jofre was also wright drained and sluggish in this fight. But, he fought great. A great win for Harada. It certified him as an all time pound per pound great by winning his second world title in his second weight class.

Thanks so much for uploading the HBO telecast. God, HBO boxing storytelling and commentary was absolutely first-class. Taylor and Pavlik BOTH got touching, well-produced biographical features before the fight. And they did stuff like that many, many times. It really humanized the fighters. I like both these guys. What a fight. They both bring a ton to the table.
Evidence that being a weight bully can make you resilient. Pavlik was embarrassed by an old Bhop because he couldn't outweigh him on fight day by 15 lbs.
