I’m so jealous! I wish i could find a truck like this or even a motorcycle that started after a year of standing (after cleaning plugs, points, clean fuel and checking the air filter!) let alone as long as that has stood. ❤😊
I will bet, someone ran out of fuel but need to go just a little more. Having a giant engine with a LOT of oil they just drained a few liters and put it in the tank, because older diesels can run on anything that burns. Then they put a bit more fuel in the tank and went on their journey to leave the truck behind.
One thing I would highly recommend investing in is a bore cleaning kit for firearms. A three segment rod, many different size wire brushes and cloth holders for running cleaner and a rag in a hole are all normally included. They are an essential part of my toolbox for anything automotive.
Perkins of that age were built to last, I used to make tooling for Perkins in the eighties, just before they got the bean counters in to cheapen everything. My Dad said the best time of his life was driving a twin boom Diamond T on the Lend Lease gravy train over the mountains from Basra to northern Persia into Russia. Red hot floors from the exhaust between fifty gallon petrol tanks, and a train of Artics chained behind. He always wanted another one to play with after demob.
Saw that community post the other day. Was hoping nothing too bad caused that month gap in the uploads.... Covid can be hell apparently. Still not sure ive had it or not since it lines up so close to cold/flu as well.
