I feed off games, I play on all consoles and PC. Love RPGs and I do like a bit of Final Fantasy. Videos generally cover my experiences/stories with games or discussions on games industry news or topics! 👍
I have played through both expansion launches as well. And I must say, overall, you provided a very accurate & fair assessment of the state of both games. Nice work! (I would only add that, while I agree the Hero Talent system is a bit of a roulette depending on what class and spec you play in War Within, we are also already seeing that Blizz is paying close attention to player feedback and already have planned updates and improvements coming to some of the more lackluster Hero specializations - you should see the new Dark Ranger and Black Arrow animations coming in 11.0.5 in November. I cannot WAIT for that.)
I have no idea about FFXIV, but TWW was fucking lame and cringe, IMHO, the world building and zone stories is the weakest of all expansions so far. Even though the overarching story of BFA and SL was disliked, the zone stories and side quests were always interesting and cool. The earthen are boring, the Arathi are nothing new, the Nerubian zone is a half assed version of what Suramar with unlikable characters, and even just trying to replicate Suramar like this is a disgrace. So I just went back and froze a character at level 50 and am now playing Legion again. F this expansion.
this. such beautiful zone design and they're mostly just set dressing for hours of cutscenes to the new player. no incentive to explore, no feeling of danger, and barely a breath of a reward for doing side quests. you either hop on your flying mount and spam beast tribe quests or smack trees and fish
I haven't played retail since wotlk. Started classic again in 2019, skipped tbc and went back again for wotlk. Stopped playing after Ulduar. I started playing ffxiv after vanilla classic, through tbc. Started at the end of ShB, and played through most of EW. I played the first couple months of Dawntrail and recently started War Within. So, with all that setup, I find each does things well. I prefer the character models of FF. Also, the glam system is far superior to what I've seen of the transmog system. However, in the past, ff had much more content to do than WoW, until now. Delves have been a godsend. Warbands make it feel rewarding to level alts. FF extremes and raids are super fun, and all the arenas are designed beautifully. Haven't raided, or gotten into mythics yet, but WoW has been fun as well. In years past, it was a definite win for FF. Now however, it's a toss up.
@@alfredgreybeard ya, playing vanilla through wrath, and then vanilla classic and wrath classic means I never played before. You deserve a Nobel prize for that conclusion
I trried to like FFXIV because I love FF VI - FFX but I can't connect to most of the hero NPCs, so it kinda feels... plastic. The lore is either all over the place, not there or trying too hard and that is what I need to get invested for quite some time: Lore, characters that make me feel for/with them and an epic story unfolding. I know that Endwalker seems to have been like that but even my friends who still play FFXIV are upset because Dawntrail so far can not (at all) live up to Endwalker and (to them) is quite the disappointment. They hope for a change and better time but I don't think I'll ever get there. Well, maybe I'll try again in a few months and never say never but atm I can't bring myself to play FFXIV.
I disagree about FF14 already having a warband system tho. I like having alts that are exclusively build up for specific classes with their transmogs to customizations to race choices and even names. Having all classes in one character is not the same experience. I always wanted a system like this ever since I played Lost Ark. And WoW basically took that system and perfected it. I wish FF14 can have the same freedom...
This! I felt that same way. Getting to play all Jobs on one character and have shared progression amongst all of them is great in FFXIV, but it also means you are ALWAYS the same Lallafell (or Hyur,/Miq'ote etc...) that you always were, with the same general look. I much prefer the new Warband system for WoW , especially as I am an altoholic and every time I log in as a different character I see the same world but through very different eyes. Keeps everything exciting and fresh. I feel connected to the various cultures and societies much differently when I am playing a Forsaken vs when I am playing a Night Elf. Love all of that - and it's all made much better now that I can share everything amongst my entire Warband.
Shadowlands released in 2019. There's nothing "recent" about it. And don't take that as me defending WoW story, hell, I'm not a fan of Dragonflight and that's as recent as it gets, but bringing up SL? Might as well compare it to pre-Realm Reborn FF.
Shadowlands has been going on until 2022, with only Dragonflight in between it and the War Within. That's 2 years ago. You can absolutely bring up Shadowlands here. + he really didn't talk about it alot, so it's not like it would be a big deal
For me the reason I left WoW and why I stop myself whenever I get the urge to come back is also the reason FFXIV pulls me so much more these days. Content invalidation. WoW always makes sure to make everything you did before worthless, more than any other MMO on the market. It doesn't just push reset every xpac, but also soft resets you every patch, and I have grown to hate it. I loved WoW back in the day, I was a druid class officer in a Naxxramas raiding guild in Vanilla, I played every xpac religiously until Legion, but eventually I just grew tired of having all my progress constantly reset and I found that basically no other MMO pushes as hard resets as WoW. I won't return to WoW until they stop making the current patch of the current xpac the only valid content to play and progress in. WoW lose out to basically every other major MMO out there due to this problem in my eyes.
@@alfredgreybeard Except other MMOs do just fine keeping old content relevant without making it impossible to join. More avenues of progression can help even help new players get into the game, as they can assured and content that anything they do will progress them, it's not a waste to spend time doing some random content they find interesting, if you design progression right. Keeping stuff relevant doesn't mean you have to do all old content first, it means it all retains valid use cases for progression. There are many ways to do it. ESO does it by making all content equal power level, new stuff adds variance and options, not tiers over the old. Other MMOs do it by keeping old power gained, but not requiring it for new stuff. FFXIV does it by making max power in a single job easy to get, but max power in all jobs take a lot of effort, with occasional power ceiling increases with expansions, as opposed to WoW doing it with every patch. I know its easy to assume you have to content invalidate if WoW is all you know, but really you don't have to do what WoW did in vanilla and force everyone through a single progression path, you can use old content for variety progression alongside new in many ways. In the end, WoW has more than 20 years of content development and releases, but it feels tiny and limited to play. It manages to be a small and more limited experience than MMOs less than half its age, because it constantly makes sure to make all old content pointless and a waste of time to engage with. WoW paradoxically had the biggest scope and breadth of content in vanilla, before they pulled their first hard reset, and the game never managed to again have as much valid progression content available as it did back then.
@@anteprs7908 m+ its prob one of the biggest/best features in WoW. saying "it would ruin like it did" its just a dumbass take. and wow is the same level of toxic as FFXIV elite raids. Its just when content gets harder, people get more toxic and less aproachable.
@@Gril018 that why it should exist plus ffxiv lack the players intrested in it ,it not worth getting more toxicity. Also m+ is the most toxic content it timer alone is proof

Honestly this game without the DLC is dark souls on steroids I wouldn’t dare to try to collect every single demon if it weren’t for the money one I don’t use the red , gray and blue ones but holy sht this game has a messed up economy.

One other notable thing about Siren is her Tool-RF ability is needed to refine Dark Matters. It was meant to be a late game thing considering Siren also had to be level 100 to do the refinement, but that requirement was removed in the remaster.
Mi personaje favorito es Temenos, por su personalidad, y ese estilo de detective seguro de si mismo y un poco egocéntrico, como Sherlock Holmes ❤ También me gusta como mi curador de equipo y un buen invocador.
If you didn't get what they were going for with Eden, it alludes to the Gardens Squall and co come from It's the Garden of Eden from the book of Genesis with a FFVIII twist
Great list! I would have put Shadow in the S+. His story is still inspiring theories left and right. And it kills me every time I see interceptor trying to get him to leave the tower.
And don't forget that B'st theme is basically a song from the beastie boys or at least shares the same vibe. With a lot of basketball references from the 80s-90s. Probably I know that because I'm old :') BTW Serai is DA BEST.
