I was shooting for 100% until I got to Cosmo Canyon. After struggling with Chocobo gliding for 2 hours I finally gave up and decided to just enjoy the story. It made the rest of the game a lot more enjoyable. Yes, that means I'm not participating in everything the game has to offer. But if I'm not enjoying it, what's the point?
For me the 8 worst: 8. Crunch-Off 7. Gears and Gambits 6. Desert Rush 5. Fort Condor 4. 3D Brawler 3. Catching Chocobos 2. Cactuar Crush 1. Gilde de Chocobo
why make massively impossible mini games? either have mini games like this with no rewards or add rewards but make them easy, total facked up to torture players with stuff they cant do. this is some FF9 mini games shit right here, something no human can do and its for a trophy. these mini games makes me not wanna buy the game nevermind play it.
Final Fantasy has ALWAYS been like this.......Final Fantasy 9 is the most famous for their ridiculously hard to near impossible mini games and trophies For example FF9 has trophy you get only by getting to the Boss Door located at the END of the game when the game clock reads 00:00:00 in REAL TIME hours (the game actually reads your system data to tell the time and date and the door unlocks at EXACTLY 00:00:00, a second past and it locks again and you have to wait for the time to naturally pass to 00:00:00 again) Final Fantasy franchise is a trophy farmer's wet dream and nightmare. The reward is bragging rights on how you did it after almost destroying your controller. That's how things have always been with Final Fantasy games and I hope it never changes.
@@SterlingQrow. I am not trophy hungry so I have never paid too much attention to the requirements. However, overall I have never liked FF9, and after learning about this idiotic trophy, the game has become even more disgusting for me I haven't played Rebirth yet, as I am waiting for the PC version. I can understand the challenge for the trophy, but these mini games shouldn't be forced to those who just want to play the story.
@@SeventhheavenDKI think there are only 8 that are mandatory on the golden path. 3 of which were mandatory in the OG. You have to beat one round of each, is normally quite easy for the base requirement to proceed. Takes about 5 minutes tops a piece. So about 30 minutes out of a 30 hour campaign. If you go for the Plat tho…. It’s a very different story.
I kind of agree. The OG had a nice system with the gold saucer where you only really got GP from each challenge. It meant you could jump from mini game to mini game to keep them more fresh and didn’t have to get a perfect score each time to make progress. You could the use that GP to enter the arena and unlock some of the best gear in the game. It prevented it from just feeling like a checklist where you had to get perfect scores to get high value items and gave you a reason to go back to many of the games. It would have worked even better if they hade done it that way here as there are so many to choose from. You could ignore the ones you don’t vibe with and cycle between some of the better ones.
Piano, I liked. I have vision issues tho and cant focus on both sticks. So it was very difficult. A lot of the time, u miss one note and it thinks its the next one so u miss it too. And its a chain reaction that ruins like 6 in a row unless u stop and pick up again a few notes later. Hated the shooting range. Was even worse before they fixed the option for inverted mouse for those who want it. But point threasholds on something like this are always set high enough that they are a pain in the ass for those who dont want to do them. Gave up on crunch very quickly. I was fine with the old ones in remake. But the half pushing down a button, failed 50% of the time for me. So no way id ever win a competition on that. Never got past the 1st body builder after the story required one. What moron decided that turning the gyro option on and off in chocoglide should be by depressing the same analog stick you are using for movement. Half the damn attempts, I turned it back on without realizing it and it screwed me later on that flight because I didnt no it was on. The gliding is so finicky and annoying. Thought Id be ok on my 2nd play thru now that inverted controls were fixed, but no. Took me 2 hours to do the 3 tracks, mainly cuz of the BS on the end of the last one. They could have made this so much better by a couple easy courses for story and then puting in a course creator for those who wanted to challenge themselves. Big missed opportunity there. Hate the moogle games. Just a waste of time and very annoying and repettative. Cactuar sucked too. Best time to hit the big one was after he missed bodyslam attack. except he would never use it one me. Just run around and waste time. Hated all versions of that one. Didnt mind the stealth for catchin chocobos. Wasnt very long and had to do it a few times in the game. But it was over with in each chapter in a few minutes so I can tolerate that. Cait sith game didnt bother me. Never had any trouble with it once I figured out what to do. I agree it could have had better stuff to do in mansion tho. Only other thing Id add to this is the annoying doors that open and close in chocobo racing. They arent consistent. Sometimes I see from a distance and they dont change when i get there. Other times, the same point in race, when I go the other way, they closed on me. Seemed to random and can cost u a race if u get stuck behind it
more mini games doesnt equal better quality. i hated 90% of the mini games in both rebirth and remake. they are tedious, time consuming and offer ver ylittle in the way of rewards. its the monkeys paw fallacy. everyone was screaming at square enix to add more side content to rebirth. they did. but they just added more of the exact same bs. QUALITY OVER QUANTITY WILL ALWAYS WIN.
I find it the shooting mini games is a bit easier if set to performance mode. I play the game in graphic mode since performance mode look terrible but that 30fps doesn’t help aiming on that mini game.
You know theres a difference between something being rewarding hard and something being annoying hard i completed most of the mini games in rebirth and let me tell you one thing i did not enjoy going throught most of them in fact i was feeling relieved that i wouldnt have to do that stuff ever in life and that is not what a challenge should make you feel
I HATED THAT FUCKING BOX GAME!! I’d rather fight Minerva from Crisis Core any day over it. I hated that the game didn’t inform you that you could switch between using the analogy sticks & the Dualsense pad. If I would’ve known that. I would’ve saved myself an hour of gameplay by not attempting to utilize that damn dual-sense pad to throw boxes. That’s my fault for postulating.
Words can’t describe how much I hated the chocobo stealth and shooting range games. They just SUCKED and the nibelheim was just a pain in the ass. All the mini games listed in this video are the opposite of fun though, but I didn’t struggle too much with cactuar crush after finding the right strat though
I couldn't even do the crunch mini-game to complete Tifa's quest😂 Whoever made the piano game I want to beat them silly with a plush Moogle in a dark alley. The best score I could get was a "C". The box throwing mini-game for Cait was ass, definitely needed more time in the oven. How did this get past the quality testers? Queens Blood, hate any kind of card games IRL and not a fan of them placed in games. I completely ignored Gwent in Witcher3. Once I won the QB tournament on the ship I never played any more Queens Blood in the game.
I haven't played Rebirth yet, but a lot of these mini games look just annoying to the point of disgusting. How many of these are forced even on the people who just want to play the main campaign? I have watched one that I am already fearing its a nightmare (Queen's blood or something like that). I have never liked the Card mini games in any of the FF games.
Some are a part of the main story yes, but you can fail them and still continue with the game. Except for the chocobo racing i think. You definitely need to win that one but imho its the most fun mini game in Rebirth. Its essentially Mario Kart. And its pretty easy. And its only one race that you have to win to progress.
Worst 3 mini games for me; #3 Piano. On the one hand, I do have to respect it for having a pretty much fully functional piano programmed into the PS5 controller. OTOH, I'm still struggling with 2 Legs, No Problem. #2 Sit-ups. I hated these mini games in Remake, and it's even worse now, with the Shoulder Buttons instead of the face ones. #1 3D Brawler. This one was just god awful, whoever designed it should be dragged out into the streets and shot. The only way I was able to beat it was by pausing with every attack so I could read my opponent's body language. And some of those moves are just way too similar.
@@andrewnathan2903 I did. It made it no less awful. I managed to beat UPA and Sephiroth at it, and I will never play it again. It is bad game design that the Pause Method is both viable, and almost completely necessary to beat anybody.
You know the sad part is the Piano mini-game IS fun it has the music success factor tied in to it. you like the songs the better you do the better the song sounds but I guess Square doesn't get that 99% of its player base is not cross-eyed because without the ability to sync another another controler there is NO WAY for your average person to finish the last 2 required songs or at the very least Two Legs Nothing to It which is such an absurdly hard song even with those two people. If you're not good that kind of mini game and are a lonely person which I almost am. then the platinum dreams are dead. In some shape or form based on how the piano is introduced to you and the fact that you don't encounter the first song until the 2nd region its clear someone SOMEONE smart said please don't make the player master the song for it to count towards a trophy or success I scanned through the vid and I got to say that it is WILD that you don't have the objective worst minigames here. As far as I'm concerned. As best as I can from least offensive to worst Chocobo Racing - Oddly enough the fun factor has nothing to do with it but there's like 30 races. Why? Piano - impossible for normal people for later songs with controller sync Fort Condor - I don't want to learn a whole other fuckin' game that's not even that fun to me Square Pirates Rampage - I can't describe how absolutely stupid the accuracy system is but its stupid...yeah Glide de Chocobo - an absolute slow shit of a minigame where you must be perfect with your dive. And must hit all targets Gears and Gambit - Same with Fort Condor. I just don't want to learn it. Hour 60 in the game and they decide you need to learn a whole other game Cactaur Crush - Like most of these mini games is its time. You are forced to hold off on 2 challenges only to come back for the game to tell you to do them again but they're harder. Jumpfrog - mechanically the worst thing in the game that's not the brutal/legendary challenge. Yes I mean that save for one unique exception. The frog controls like ass and much like the theme of my list its just something I don't want to do. Not to mention the reward for it is shite that you'd never use unless you're meme-ing And that special unique circumstance is Queen's Blood Nightmare challenge. It is the worst thing and I only give it an exception because I think Queen's blood is fun but I guess part of me likes card games and its technically only a fraction of what is overall pretty easy. The nightmare challenge is literally a heads I win tails you lose set up. Its the modus for FF7 Rebirth's extended gameplay in general which is to place the odds in the game's favor and rob you of yours . Basically don't be fun or rewarding or challenging. Just unfair. There's a method to beat it but it's clunky and can literally fail due to luck
Kinda the point of trophies.....you gotta earn them. You don't HAVE to to play the game and get the whole story but if you want bragging rights.....earn it
@@SterlingQrow You're over estimating the premise of "earn". Every trophy other than story related ones you earn. Doesn't mean you have to lose your saniity to do that.
It’s funny, the game seems to target different players with different strengths & weaknesses. The only two that gave me trouble were the first round of Leapftog & Hellions Intonement. (I don’t know why, but Leapfrog was the hardest thing for me). Still, credit where it’s due! There weren’t many, if any good guides when it was at 0.4.
The third Protorelic location with Yuffie. It's hard mode variant was KILLING me last night. I stay up till 4am trying to get it! I swear they didn't play test this. Managed to get 6240 points, but holy cow that took off a few years. I feel like the 3D Brawler Sephiroth will be hard... but not as annoying as bombs constantly being thrown at you.
