Thanks for doing this vid 6+ years ago. I will say that I too have both the Z5500 and Z906 and the Z5500 is about 50% more powerful than the Z906. When it comes to Music and Movies, again, the Z5500 is far better. Too bad they discontinued making the Z5500 speakers back in 2011 and can only get the Z906. But for an all in one system that you can just plug in your optical cable into your PC or TV there is nothing better than Z5500 and the Z906; even after all these years, they are still the king!
Hey, most people say z906 has better bass quality and also deeper. z5500 is louder. I want to ask how u use ur systems. Optical or analog and also any eq.
@@tibby1239not true. I own both systems and I can clearly tell you right now, that the Z5500 is much deeper in its base response than the Z906. now if you’re looking for Software or a sound enhancer device, I would try using the SoundForge app (for MacOS first). You can customize the EQ app to enhance the sound slightly better. The better way to go would be to purchase a DAC. The one that I would suggest would be the SoundBlaster X4. That to me is by far one of the best sound enhancement devices to use with the speaker set up and you can tweak in customize a Sound using the SoundBlaster X4 app (for MacOS), to make customized enhancements. That’s the best and I can tell you. I also if you are interested in finding a set of Z5500 speakers, let me know, as I have an extra set that I am willing to part with. Just let me know if you’re interested. Thank you.
Bought mine in 2005 as well (09/07/2005 23:47) never skipped a beat been flawless built like a tank, the longest piece of continually running hardware for me. Currently have it in a 2.1 configuration since I no longer have the space to run 5.1. 👌
I've recently purchased the Z906 system, and i think this is the best investment in 2023 if you want strong and capable subwoofer, great surround response, crisp sound from rear speakers for movies and games for very affordable price. I am generally satisfied with what i got! Top product from logitech! (P.S. Z906 sub shook the shampoo shelf in my bathroom 20ft away 😂).
Amazon order history shows I bought Z5500's December 23rd, 2004 for $269.99 shipped and I'm still using them in 2023 lol, crazy. Can't say for sure if they still sound as intended they may of lost some upper end clarity over the years but I have my soundcard EQ (onboard realtek) adjusted to compensate. I've heard the Z5500 has a known issue with becoming more muffled over time, everything still works and ive only had to replace the fuse on back of subwoofer once so far.
My z5500 died this year after more than 10 years, the circuit of the control pod was just got broken. The rest of the speakers are working fine. So I bought the z906. They're good but I hate the fact that satellites have no base to make it easy to put it on walls. The mounting method is tricky
Dont think the guy who made this has much clue, z906 was designed to take over from z5500, thats why u cant buy it new anymore. Even with somewhat smaller size and spec it still performs equal/better than z5500. Its just an updated product and design, to give winner to z5500 is just facepalm.. xD
More watt are not always better btw, there are many factor to take, ( sensitivity, frequency tuning, box enclosure etc ) 100w RMS system can sound better than 500w RMS system
yes that is if the design of the speakers were meant and tuned to reach 120dB+ at low wattage or low volumes including the pressure factor of the speakers
Thanks for the video! But I disagree. The Z906 has a more balanced system and the bass is perfect in normal sized rooms. In addition, you don't have to sit close to the display to see your settings when you press the remote control. Everything is visible from a distance. Both music and movies work perfectly. A very affordable system.
Z906 sounds more musical for me. I think for those small satelites speakers 8 inch subwoofer is better, and 10 is too boomy. But in other way, this just cheaper Z5500 version with must less power. And can hear it, and see than you look inside the amp.
I have owned the Logitech Z5500 DTS 5.1 speaker system since they launched in the early 2000s.I am still using them to this day through the various iterations of my home office dual display PC work station.
😅 More Watts is not necessary better sound !!! You say the more Watts the more effect and the more you feel the pressure. I prefer 150Watts but a woofer that goes down to 18Hz then one of 250Watts with a limit of 35Hz. Humans hear frequencies from 20 Hz up to 20,000 Hz. The lowest bound, 20 Hz, with a wavelength of nearly 20 meters, is a frequency we feel rather than actually hear. So if you even goes below 20Hz, that are the basses you will only feel, but your Woofer must be able to play this. sealed space, or pressure chamber, lifts the low frequencies by 12 dB/octave below a frequency related to the dimensions of the enclosed volume. So the size of the enclosure also plays a role. And also the size of the woofer counts like you say, that's why the Z-906s lacks the same punch that the Z-5500 provides, which is to be expected when comparing a 10" to an 8". But on the other side, the Z5500 subwoofer is a tad boomy. A great song to test a subwoofer, or any woofer is "Bassotronics - Bass I Love You". Play this on you Laptop speakers and you will ask yourself is there bass in this song, if I play this on my Home Cinema (which has a SVS subwoofer 525Watt RMS and configured to go to 12Hz), the whole house is trembling due to the ultra low frequenties. Seems they are in the 10 - 25 hz range. So you see Watts doesn't say all. Further if you go measure wattage, you will see that you never get the advertised ratings. I saw measurements where surround receivers were rated at 208Watt/channel, but when measured only got 130Watt if only one channel was driven, in surround it further dropped to around 100Watt. And then we also have Total harmonic distortion (THD) , signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), etc...
I’ve had the Z5500 since about 2011 and let me just say they have been amazing from day 1. In the past year the light up feature on the little screen of the main unit which displays volume has died… THATS IT. They sound just as good as day 1. I’ve used them for gaming and movies. Given they’re discontinued I bought a Z906 for the upstairs living room. Hopefully it’s at least somewhat comparable.
and with compare with Z5500 how Z906 are going? i have Z5500 also obout 10-12 years but im thinking of Z906 becouse of their input possibilities. are they similars?
bought min in 2008, and still ve it ! i like it. the only annyoing thing about it is that if you turn it off with the button on the sub, you blow the fuse ! that is a weakness !
I’ve used the Z906s for quite a while now, while I can say that the Z5500s are slightly louder and possess far more bass, they are still a VERY solid option. Overall, I’m very happy with them! But, if they were still in production, I would go with the Z5500s, although it isn’t a massive difference!
@@kosmatydziadu it is if you switch it off! Not on! So with removal of the sub. Just unplug it and put it where you want! You can be one of the lucky ones that get one that is not like thar ofc!
I've used my z5500 for 10 years or so, it died recently, (control pod died and as anyone knows, those shits are hard to come by) now I'm running z906. The subwoofer of the z5500s are a lot more powerful, however I can say for a fact that the speakers on the z906 are a lot clearer and sound nicer. It also helps that the audio input connections are on the subwoofer in the z906 instead of on the control pod for cable management
i am not sure but i buy first 2007 my z5500 and then i think 2014 the z906.i use them together for music-games-cinema with i small box that takes 1 optical input and outputs 4 opticals.i cant understant wich have better bass because the position was different but i want to ask.it is possible the z5500 to have better and cleaner sound because of the time of the hours ahead of playing???both systems works fine.i have 1 in the living room and 1 in my room.i wish someone to make a hi end test between the 2 models with hi-tech equipment.if you are new and want to buy them 906 or 5500 for maximum results and clear and high volume use optical.with mini jack conection the sound is not good.EXTRA--- i replace for test the satelites of z5500 with satelites from creative gigaworks s750.the results are very good the quality is better.
I'm using Z906 and you can tell why i'm here. Yes, Z906 is shit after 2 years of using. Not because of the sound quality, But the built itselves is bad!! compare to z5100 and z5500 which is LEGENDARY. I hope i can buy myself second hand in the nearest future.
I bought a used z5500 when my z906 died, and I can tell you that they sound better. However the control panel is harder to control via remote because i cant see on the screen and the wall mounts are terrible... (I dissasembled the speakers to add custom wall mounts and the woofer although powerful is a dust magnet. To remove the woofer to clean it you have to remove the grill which is a nigbtmare to remove, straighten and put back... But having done all these steps i think its an upgrade coming from the newer z906 speakers loolz ;)
I have the Z5500... 13 years old? The surrounds on all my smaller speakers have cracked, and the light on the control module has gone dim. Sub still works like a champ, but not as "tight" as I'd like. As others have said, more wattage, or a bigger sub, is not always better.
Yeah .. and at mines 2 logiz5500 the mids speakers are die but i change those craps with s750 gigaworks speakers one friend have 2 gigaworks and give me the speakers because him subs amplifiers burn know i have better mids with super tweeter on
