It doesn't matter if Thompson opposed the war - hundreds of millions of people around the globe opposed the war - it went ahead anyway...and 10's of millions died as a result. I liked most of Thompson's work, but his political views were the same as everyone else's, at that time, unimportant.

Charlie Rose has a point. Rum Diaries was a great fucking book and as much as I loved the journalism, I'd like to see more of Hunter's idea of fiction. I read the book in two days at the perfect time.
When Hunter started rocking gently back and forth as he was being read his own word's (3:06) it mademagical me think of another short film of him when he said, quote "I am a music freak" and I feel this is very apt and poignant, as his words are very much like music, which was a big part of the magical era he lived in.
