Amy Xplores Come along with me on adventures as we explore interesting places in the US. I am a caretaker for my 91-year-old mom who suffers with dementia. I am blessed to be able to help her at the end of her life, she cared for me and now it is my turn. We appreciate everyone that takes time out of their day to watch our little videos! Our videos are free to watch. By just watching, you have already helped support us by watching, commenting and subscribing. Thank you so much! Amy

You went! 🎉Great video that gave a real sense of what it is like. I drove around it before it opened and through the gorge one time. There used to be a Pastor of a church I attended who retired back to WV near Fayetteville. Thanks for going and doing a tour.
What an amazing example of a Mid-century Modern home and it's authentic! It was kept up so nice too. This is rare. I hope you will keep it just the way it is. You should tag this video as Mid-century Modern Home and you will get a lot of views! I had an old hand-me-down Danish modern chair that I used to tote around from apartment to apartment for about 15 years. It was held together by bungee cords. When I decided to throw it out, before I could even get it to my dumpster (in Los Angeles) someone ran up and claimed it. They couldn't believe I was throwing it out.
Wow, thanks for sharing. Wonder where the chair is today. We are going to have to sell the furniture....so sad since it was part of my childhood. I may add something it the description regarding the furniture.
Amy, thanks for the memories. One of the first places that I took my wife was Camden Park when we were courting. My family still lives in Barboursville. My Dad ran all the Tradewells and Foodlands in the area. He was the caterer for those wonderful picnics at Camden Park. I used to help. My brothers have had a business on Route 60 in Barboursville for the last 40 years. Thanks again and am looking forward to more content from the area.
Wow, small world. I wish we still had Tradewell and Foodland's, not many grocery stores in the area to choose from. What business does your bothers own? Thank you for watching!
My sister in law is the head of the Huntington Park Board. We would love to see a video on Pullmans Square, the Riverfront, best restaurants in Huntington etc…. We love your channel.
That sign with the clown is great and it's amazing it has been preserved as well as the coaster. We had one like that at the beach in San Diego but they rebuilt it with steel. I remember riding the old rickety wooden one. Whenever I see old carnivals I think of the Hitchcock movie "Strangers on a Train."
A beautiful park! There are some pretty talented artisans there. I am not sure where in NC you lived but my wife and I moved from WV to Durham when she went to Duke for her PhD. Then in 1989 we got moved to Atlanta by Hampton Inn to open a new hotel. We thought we would move back some day but never did. After she died 6 years ago I thought about moving back or maybe moving back to Morgantown. Morgantown has become a pretty expensive place to live. I considered Western NC as well but here I am still in Atlanta. A colleague of mine has been offered a GM’s job in Charleston and one in Savannah. I recommended Charleston. Though, I like the Savannah area because it is close to St Simons Island where Cindy and I used to vacation a lot. I finally went back last year for the first time and it felt weird without her. Amy, take your time deciding where to live SC has some nice areas. With your personality you will not have a problem finding and making friends. Good luck!
@@amyxplores810 Amy, I decided to stay in the Atlanta area. We bought our house (our second in Atlanta) 25 years ago and it is in what now has become a growing area. It is close to a lot of stores and has easy access to the North Georgia Mountains. It is close to my church. I retired in November and then took a job with Hilton Hotels Technology where I can work from home. I also play trumpet in a local jazz band. So, there is a lot to offer. As long as I don't have to go to downtown Atlanta I am fine. BTW, before you leave WVa for anywhere try and go see the New River Gorge Bridge. I know it is on the other side of the state from you. I used to travel back to see my Mom from Beckley to Morgantown on Rte 19. When I was in college (before the bridge opened) we were on the way to the beach with our campus Minister and he decided to take us through the gorge and cross on this old rickety bridge. - at night. Certainly, a fun and interesting trip. Good luck on whatever you do and go. Please keep your channel going because you travel to some interesting places.
Condolences on your mother's passing. ❤ I have only been to Harper's Ferry but I lived in Virginia and this reminds me of there. I like to take roadtrips, but when I can't do that I love to be an armchair traveler and watch videos of different areas of the country. As far as recommendations of where to move, I highly recommend Mississippi, specifically Natchez. I just visited there in December. If you have never been, I encourage you to check it out. You can fly into Baton Rouge or New Orleans and drive there in 2 hours. The homes there are inexpensive, which is hard to believe because it's a hidden gem on the Mississippi River. The people in Mississippi were the most polite I have ever encountered anywhere! I recommend Monmouth Historic Inn. I almost didn't go to Mississippi, (I was driving from New Orleans to San Antonio) but it turns out Natchez has a lot to offer (if you're retired or can work remotely.) I want to go back and it's on my list of places to retire.
Wow, thank you for the info. I will certainly check it out...I have never been to Mississippi but have a first cousin who lives there. Thank you!!! Have a blessed day.
The New River Gorge Bridge is on Highway 19 between Fayetteville and Summerville. I've been across it several times. Maybe one day I'll actually stop at the observation area and look at it. I hope you can find a nice place to live. Preferably here in North Carolina, the best state.
Amy, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. I know it is hard but she is in a better place and is pain free and healthy and in the presence of the Lord. Thank you for sharing this video.
I thank you for sharing your Mom and your experience, I'm am also living with my Mother in a similar situation. May God bless you all and bring comfort in the knowledge that she is safe and well in heaven and you will see her again.
It tells a whole lot about that generation when they hit stardom and their Dream home is a basic ranch style brick home less than 3k square ft. They still were normal people with abnormal vocal ranges.
When Igor out of College (WVU) I worked and traveled through Wva and went by Lewisbuurg quite a bit. Being in my early 20’s I wasn’t interested in Historic places or antiques. Now, I am about 40 years older and live near Atlanta. After my wife passed away about 6 years ago I began enjoying trips to the small towns of North Georgia- going to wineries and, occasionally. Exploring some really interesting antique shops. Loved the tour of Lewisburg.
I love Barbara mandrell is has always been my favorite singer for ever and I miss getting to see her and her show Barbara you are awesome and beautiful and precious love you always ❤❤❤❤❤❤
The Keith-Albee in Huntington was never the second largest theatre in the United States. It wasn't even in the top 20, probably not even in the top 30.
