Amy Xplore's Heritage Station the former Baltimore & Ohio Railroad depot was built in 1887 and served Huntington until the mid-1960s. Concerned citizens worked to preserve the historic railway station during the late 1960s and early 1970s. In 1973, the B&O depot was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. With the support of the Urban Renewal Authority, the facility was repurposed in 1977 as Heritage Station, a center for artisans and other retail outlets. Today, Heritage Station is a hub for local businesses and events, while the original depot building serves as the headquarters for the Huntington Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. In front of the Depot stands the Elk River Coal & Lumber Company #10 Steam Locomotive, also on the National Register of Historic Places.
On September 6, 1875, Jesse James’ 28th birthday, he and three other members of the James-Young Gang robbed the Huntington Bank in Huntington, West Virginia making off with cash estimated between $10,000-$20,000.
On September 6, 1875, two men walked into the Bank of Huntington with their revolvers drawn. Two others kept guard outside. The four men left the bank with $20,000 and rode south out of town.
A posse chased the bandits into Kentucky. Eventually, one was captured in Tennessee with some of the stolen loot. He was convicted and sentenced to the West Virginia Penitentiary.
Another gang member was wounded in Kentucky and later died of his injuries. The two others escaped with most of the money.
The robbery spawned a host of legends. The most popular theory is that the two who escaped justice were the notorious outlaws Frank James and Cole Younger. Local folklore suggests that after the Huntington robbery, Frank James took up residence in Wayne County, around Cove Gap, near the Lincoln County line. Using the alias Frank Morris, James supposedly tended a farm and made well-crafted furniture, some of which has been handed down through generations of Wayne County families. This idea, though, has been challenged since Frank James participated in several high-profile robberies over the next year with his brother Jesse.

What an amazing example of a Mid-century Modern home and it's authentic! It was kept up so nice too. This is rare. I hope you will keep it just the way it is. You should tag this video as Mid-century Modern Home and you will get a lot of views! I had an old hand-me-down Danish modern chair that I used to tote around from apartment to apartment for about 15 years. It was held together by bungee cords. When I decided to throw it out, before I could even get it to my dumpster (in Los Angeles) someone ran up and claimed it. They couldn't believe I was throwing it out.

Wow, thanks for sharing. Wonder where the chair is today. We are going to have to sell the furniture....so sad since it was part of my childhood. I may add something it the description regarding the furniture.
