That Eric can play too! Closest cover I have ever heard of this song. Even Clapton snd Harrison didn't sound this good. Great job as usual guys. Thanks for the memories and the music.

Thanks to whomever posted this. I saw a different cast i think in SF at the Orpheum Theatre in SF. I can still remember. My father took me. I was maybe 10 years old. It was a birthday present. I was a Beatlemaniac at 8. Disco was king with all my friends but all I wanted to do was listen to the Beatles. In the 4th grade I brought Sargent Peppers to class for album day. No body liked and they replaced it with something else from the time. Oh boy. Great memories.

I saw this at Knott's Berry Farm in CA. I'm not sure what year but early 80s, maybe 82. I remember Hello/Goodbye had a purple video or purple lights.

Interesting how the Beatle tribute band business has rocketed after these guys. And many improvements have been made over the many years (1978 until now): left-handed bass players (even though most were actually right-handed), more accurate hair styles, better British accents, overall look improvements, etc. But these original guys certainly had the talent and started this thing off very well. Congratulations and a BIG "thank you" for that.

Of course, "Beatlemania" doesn't exist anymore, but since then through the current tribute versions, none of 'em have ever gotten the wigs correct.

My first concert, in 1978 with my parents. Now, the tribute band industry has created some much better "simulations," like The Fab Four, for example. But back then, this was incredible. I even remember right before the show an announcement over the speakers "Ladies and gentlemen a reminder, there is no smoking- of ANYTHING- allowed in the theater." Got a good laugh from the crowd. Also, when "Paul" sang "Yesterday," right at the end of the song, some lady in the audience yelled out "all right, white boy!"

I was in high school in California then and I had the whole song lineup for the show on a cassette but with the original recordings. I wrote to the producers about possibly getting an audition and for the life of me I can’t remember the response (I did get one with Beatlemania letterhead). They had several casts over the couple years they did this (which I’m sure most people know); Marshall Crenshaw did the John Lennon part when I saw them in either San Francisco (I am pretty sure at the Orpheum) or the show I saw at the Concord Pavilion (my god Crenshaw is 70 now). Anyway I had learned the guitar parts for playing George well and I could sing his nasal-delivery songs, and definitely at least as well as the guys playing it in these shows, but it wasn’t realistic that I’d be able to actually do this at the time- I couldn't just leave school, I guess I assumed it would run a lot longer until Apple Corps. lawsuit effectively shut them down. But from the many stories I read of the participants, sounded like a lot of them didn’t actually do a lot of prep and were accepted. Lower standards back then, and Beatle tributes in the years since are far more exacting. Weissman got away with a right handed “Paul” back then but no tribute worth their salt would try that today. And the soundtrack to the show was pretty awful. Yes I owned it. 😂

Beatlemania was the first Broadway show I ever saw, I was somewhere between 7-8 years old when we took our seats at the Winter Garden Theater. I remember my little brain trying to comprehend some of the more psychedelic images, especially during "Lucy in the Sky". I also remember being so impressed when they stood behind a scrim that had a giant TV screen on it so it looked like we were watching them on TV, and then the scrim lifted and they were there, live and in real life. I also remember "Paul" coming downstage and sitting on the edge and singing "Yesterday". Not a bad first theatrical experience.

They kept everybody in the dark about what this was all about. not even the cast knew. they didnt wwant work getting out about the show. and it worked, it just opened, out of the blue. it killed nation wide. i say it 4 times, twice at the blackstone in chicago and then there was a touring version that i saw . i really dont know why this show isnt at vegas, it was for a while.

You have to tune the guitar down a whole tone and play the solo on Gm if you want to play it like the record. Another reason why you wouldn’t use a Strat. The guitar is a actually played by Paul on his Casino.
