Billy idol is still one of the richest rockers of the era. Was very good at not wasting his money. Was very involved with raising his kids. An all around hard working guy. Love him to this day.
Paul Carrack on Lead Vocals and the late great Paul Young on backing vocals (playing keyboards in this video). They shared/alternated Lead Vocals on most of the songs, until Paul's untimely death in July 2000. A brilliant, classic and moving song. I hadn't realised that it actually topped the Billboard Hot 100 until I checked the other day; all the way back in March 1989.
At the end they are on the White Cliffs of Dover. I have written to both my parents, who I am blessed to still have. They live minutes away but I wrote anyway, both individually and joint letters. They were overwhelmed but also overjoyed and both have a package of letters/photos being put in with them when they are gone. I absolutely adore mine and told my dad he could spend all my inheritance on mum. Diamonds on the soles of her shoes? Fine with me. For various reasons they are my heroes.
For me, it’s George Michael’s fist pump and spin after the audience sings back “loooooooooooove” AND more so, Brian’s smile. 🥹 Brian had almost no smiles on his face that day, and that smile is what kills me (brings me to tears) every single time. You can see the thought on his face, “THAT made Freddie smile”.
My youngest son cannot to listen to this song. He was away when his father passed and he feels the regret that he did not get to say goodbye to a father he revered and loved deeply.
Welcome to the rabbit hole! Watch A Reason to Fight and Hold on to Memories, both official live versions. This is the song that turned this 64 yo Grandma into a Disturbed One. I was biased based on their sound, but after reading about them and learning the meaning and message behind their songs, I love it all, even Down with the Sickness.
Back in the day, a movie star had to be able to sing, dance, and act. Today, many of them have all of those talents but don't show them. John Travolta has a wonderful singing voice, and we all know he can dance. They also needed to be able to play an instrument.
I just stumbled upon your channel and would love to see your reaction to Lara Fabian, who was Dimash's idol while he was growing up. I will attach the link to one of her songs that he covered. These 4 members of The Oaks have been together since the mid 70s, aside from the bearded one leaving for a short time, and returning. At the start of this year, Joe Bonsall, the guy with the amazing tenor voice, announced that he was being forced to retire, due to health reasons. He had been battling a slow onset of a muscular disease, that finally took its toll on him.
I share your same admiration for Kenny. If you havent been introduced to his last top 40 hit, it's called The Greatest. Even if it's on your own time, take a peek at the official video. Classic storytelling from Kenny.
There's a video, that i think Home Free used as a teaser, before this was released, that is a sort of meeting between the guys and Mr. McLean. As i remember, it was very interesting.
This song makes me love everything about Tracy Chapman. Who she was, what she did in her time, and who she is now. I can totally relate to the seclusion that she enjoys in her life now.
Always emotional. Garth Brooks recorded a song with a very similar message, called If Tomorrow Never Comes. I think the last line, in that song, is the most meaningful words ever put to music.
First time I heard this, I was driving. I had to pullover and listen to it. I was 72 at the time. It left me crying like a baby. Talk about, “ blow ya socks off “.
Thanks doing this one Nick. I would like to have this played at my death bed (if given the chance! - not funeral because only those who would come to see me would know what this means to me) I broke up with my first love with this seeming to be played every where I went in the days and weeks after. And that organ, wow, the unique sound of an era. Thanks again Nick. Glad to see lots of others are reacting to this ...Your reaction is best 😢
5:10 Hear more from him. An other Vocal coach said in a reaction Video, heard him 1st Time: If you hear him in the radio 1st time, you think he is a boy group of 5. Unfogettable Day "D8" If a girl hears one song of Dimash, she needs no sex for a week.
What i would suggest is listening to them from the beginning of their career from the beginning after they won The Sing Off. That way you can see the evolution and dynamics of the group. Btw, i love your appreciation and reactions.
Good you got to see both. I love seeing and hearing David in the Conan version. He is just so good. The other version is excellent too, but in a slightly different way because if the visuals I think bith versions are excellent. .
This man has an even more powerful version. The title is Sound of Silence THE CONAN version. Even if you do not react to it please go look at it. The same man sings it, but the visuals are quite different. It is very powerful too.
