This song is written from the perspective of the "other" woman. The video director wanted to do another take, but Kristian said no after watching Jennifer break down.
During the filming of the video, Jennifer is really breaking down to the point that Kristian ordered everyone out of the studio so it was only the two of them.
There is more to the story.... I'm a big trivia buff and I hang on to the background details. Kristian was VERY CONCERNED about how emotional this was for Jennifer. This was MORE than acting! Jennifer was really falling apart. This song is also a break from their normally fun music - Stuck Like Glue.
they wanted to do a retake of this, The Guitarist refused, saying, she is not going through that again, her feelings were real, she was going through her own situation at the time
Her voice is phenomenal Sugarland has several hit like “Baby Girl” “Settlin’” , “All I want to Do”, “ It Happens” , “ Stuck like Glue” etc But my favorite performance of their was at a Brooks and Dunn tribute event where they performed “Red Dirt Road” (original by Brooks and Dunn) I like this one because you also get to hear Christian sing. Jennifer has also performed with many other artist notable “Who Says you Can’t Go Home” with Bon Jovi as well as duets with Idina Menzel, Josh Groban and others. Her version of “Oh Holy Night” is breathtaking.
What was the song she did with a group, on the CMA's it was something about the land up North (Canada maybe), their performance was amazing but I cannot remember the title of the song, or the people 6 itor 7 who joined her on stage. Thought you just might know! Fingers crossed!! This was performed years ago, so I can't provide you with a time frame. I loved the song tho!!
This is pure raw emotion. Jennifer was going through a divorce at the time. She has repeatedly said this song wasn't about her ex-husband and that he didn't cheat on her. Before joining Sugarland and becoming primarily country, Jennifer used to sing a lot of rock. She performed multiple times at Eddie's Attic in Atlanta. Here's a link to Jennifer performing with Bon Jovi on their song You Can't Go Home: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5CeX5VEo10c.html
Jennifer has an amazing voice! Another song of hers that is great is called 'Unlove You'. I do like a lot of her other songs too, but Unlove you and Stay are my 2 favorites.
Nick, Her pain was completely real, at the time of this filming Jennifer was going through a tough divorce with her husband, who had cheated on her…She wrote this Song from the side chick’s perspective…to show there’s really Two women who have been broken, exploited, and lied to by a cheating man…Very Cathartic….Good Luck Jjh
Jennifer Nettles is an extremely underrated singer & artist. Please dive further into Sugarland. ❤❤ "baby girl" i believe was the 1st big hit. Among many others.
This band is great. You probably heard a couple of their first big hits way back in the day, Something More and Baby Girl. Some of their other songs I highly recommend are Joey, Love, Tonight, Incredible Machine, Down in Mississippi, Little Miss, and Incredible Machine (Interlude).
I am so glad I found this vid today. Havent heard song in long time but sang along like it was yesterday. Her singing voice is one of those u instantly recognize like Pink, Elvis or Natalie Maines from Dixie Chicks. I highly recommend the song "Joey" by Sugarland. Jennifer wrote it in memory of a love lost in an accident ❤👍
I joust found you on you tube. Love your reactions. If you want to hear pure vocal ability and the most beautiful voice. Linda ronstadt. Long long time. ‘Nough said.
Sugarland started out as a trio originally, then became a duo, and now, Jennifer is a solo artist. I get a lump in my throat every time I hear this song.
Fun Fact: Sugarland was originally a Trio. The 3rd member Kristen Hall was pushed out by Jen and Kristian, and it landed all 3 of them in court. It was because of Hall that they even had success because she was the main writer on their debut song "Baby Girl."
Jennifer Nettles is a talent that can’t be matched. This song got to Jennifer so badly in the video that they wanted to do multiple takes and she couldn’t.
Wow, now I have heard of Sugarland, but not this one. I went through a divorce where my husband choice a different woman. Then before our divorce was final she married someone else she was cheating on against her husband and mine. He died and 3 months before he died he called me and I was sad that he was alone in the hospital; no one was there to see him. The next I heard was I learned on Facebook of his dying. NO call, just reading it on Facebook. I know what she, Jessica felt, but then it got so bad I couldn't take him back; I couldn't live through it again. He wanted a second chance with me to go move to a whole different state and I was just done. Someone can only hurt you so much, before something in you dies; but ironically and sadly he died. Sadly, because we had kept a friendship even after our divorce. I know how much you want someone in your life, but it hurts too much to get back together and the trust is gone.I love your reactions, it shows you truly have such a good heart!
Ive been in that situation and was in it for a while. Didnt know the guy was engaged, didntknow for a long time and by the time i found out i was already in love and then let him convince me he wasnt going to go through with the wedding and that he just needed time to sort some stuff out because they had things tied together. Eventually i had enough waitingand lies and ended it and caught so much shit for it for breaking up their relationship (she found out and left him too) when i had no idea the first 4 months that he was in a relationship
Her performance is heartbreaking. One key thing to take away from this--she's singing from the perspective of the side piece. That puts a whole new spin on things.
Some guy cheating on his wife but not willing to leave her is an old, old story. When a woman sings about how the situation breaks her diwn, it is usually from the perspective of the wronged wife. This is a rare one from the perspective of the other woman. Hearts breaking all around.
Jennifer is a phenomenal pure singer. I don't think she has ever hit an off note. For an upbeat song by Sugarland the band. Try "Down in Mississippi and up to no good". The Live version. It's a fun romp.
Look when a woman or man gets involved with a married person they know what the outcome could be.Some people leave their spouse and children but a lot want give up their home and family.Thats the risk of becoming the third person in a marriage.JS
Hey Nick, Can you react to Leave a Light on (Talking in the Dark) by Papa Roach and Carrie Underwood? Its about suicide prevention and its such a good song!!!! Also i am a huge fan and i love your reaction videos. Would love to see a reaction of this song!
she did right it, but it was prompted by Reba's "Whoever's In New England". Jennifer was inspired to tell the story from the other woman. About the time they recorded this she was dealing with divorce, her ex had not cheated on her, but clearly still very emotional for her.
Actually Jennifer Nettles wrote this song four years before it was released, so it wasn't based on her own marriage/divorce. But the emotional response as she sings it is obviously very real.
He didn’t cheat!!!!! Jennifer stated this publicly. The divorce was painful but amicable because of different lifestyles. She’s famous and travels and never home and he was more business and stays home.
