Some simple tips to know of a website is a scam: 1) No address/contact information 2) No social media presence/the given social media links dont work or exist 3) Check the terms and conditions, bad spelling is a big red flag/ copy paste the terms and conditions to an ai bot and see if theres anymore red flag 4) extremely unbelievable offers, which might seem too good to be true 5) If theres an address given, check if its actually real.
I ordered a T-shirt from a website I found on my instagram reel. I’ve had a lot of legit sellers displayed there so I figured I was fine. Plus, the website that opened in browser looked legit. It was late at night and I was half thinking while “watching” a movie. 💀 The first red flag was that I didn’t receive an order confirmation as the website said I would. So I dug a little deeper into the website. I noticed there were multiple affiliated websites that claimed to be the same company that were on facebook. Different domain, same product, different “people” claiming it to be a small family business… then I looked online for the original link and looked through the website (not inside of instagrams browser this time). It had everything a website needs, so I contacted the service email to question about the order confirmation not being sent. It bounced back as not existing… and I inputed the website domain into ScamAdvisor and the rating was 1/100 (lol). Needless to say I had everything to make a claim with my credit card agency. I called up my bank and credit agency and got approved for the charge dispute. Funnily enough, an additional foreign transaction fee showed up as well for .79 cents. I may have gone overboard, but I changed my password for everything related to my bank. To feel a bit safer I suppose… Fast forward the following week, and lo and behold, I received my confirmation email. Shocker! I didn’t click the affiliate link as I still don’t trust it, but I commend the effort. Only time will tell if I actually get my t-shirt. I’d still bet its a scammer trying to cover his tracks since its been reported. But moral of the story, this was an eye opening experience as to how ignorant I can be online. I thought was was better, but it was too late this time.
Thanks for the quick summary; you said it all. Gotta love my local CU in the Hudson Valley; 21 brick-and-mortar offices in the region, Flex CDs of 5.62% (was 5.74!), and NCUA.

Well basically, since you clicked the link you might have a virus. Usually these types of viruses steal ur personal information. If your free of virus, your email, address, name, and phone number is currently being sold on the dark web.
So sad. Scammers are cruel, I was a victim once luckily got my $23,600 back. Thanks to the man who made it possible. Tbh @Grindtechiei is a life saver],,
Big THANK YOU to Dani and the FCCU. Thank you for providing this educational and informative video. I was about to go to a site to enroll in opt out prescreening services and I used the whois website and bbb and saved myself a headache from possible identity fraud. I am going to rewatch your video and learn all I can so I can teach my kids this valuable info. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you !!!!!!!
"Miss any red flags?" Well, yes, a few. Grammar, for instance. "To deliver your package..." The recipient isn't going to deliver anything. "...update your address by click the link..." Was this written by a second grader? Of course the whole premise is wrong. I don't get to claim a package by emailing the post office and changing the delivery address. And the Post Office doesn't warn the (supposed) recipient they're returning mail; they just do it. Actually, scammers (those who actually speak English) intentionally put grammatical and other errors into their communications so people who can spot them will not reply and "waste" the scammer's time..
Some are pretty obvious, but you'd be surprised some of the really convincing ones we've seen! Scammers are continuing to innovate, especially with the rise of AI. -Dani
Thank you so much for this i nfo. I am 61 and still have much to learn. Luckily when I first went online, a friend told me how to look for https to make sure it was legit. So far, I have been safe. But I have had nothing but problems ordering online. Out of the last 12 purchases..only 2 arrived on time and some was run over. Bigger hassle than convenience. Im.done..
I'm sorry that you felt mislead. We are Fort Community Credit Union, a mid-sized credit union located in Fort Atkinson, WI. Our acronym is very similar to the FCC, but just slightly different (FCCU).
Once I confront hank green with exploiting my identity, They need to get charged and sued. I had confronted them 5 years ago and I got threatened. After that I went to the FBI and made a report but nothing happened
