Located just 20 minutes from downtown Savannah. Facing due east, this Georgia barrier island has been a popular vacation spot since the late 1800s. Home to wide, clean beaches with warm and gentle waves, Tybee Island is the perfect escape for those who need a healthy dose of sand, sun and seaside bliss. Plan your trip at visittybee.com/
Thank you for sharing the video. The food looks great! We are planning on visiting Tybee Island at the end of June. Was there parking around The Crab Shack and Sting Ray's Seafood?
BACK MANY YRS AGO THE TIDE ON TYBEE ISLAND USED TO GO OUT REALLY FAR, AND MANY YRS AGO ON A LOW TIDE, I WALKED ALMOST ALL THE WAY OVER TO LITTLE TYBEE ISLAND JUMPING FROM SAND BAR TO SAND BAR WHERE THE WATER WAS NEVER MORE THAN KNEE DEEP AND GOT WITHIN THE LENGTH OF A FOOTBALL FIELD VIA THROUGH THAT RIVER THAT RUNS BETWEEN TYBEE AND LITTLE TYBEE AND THEN SWAM THE REST OF THE WAY AND HUNG OUT THERE, ME AND A FRIEND UNTIL THE NEXT LOW TIDE CAME AROUND WHICH WAS CLOSE TO DUSK WHICH WAS AROUND 8:30 PM BUT WE HAD TO DO WHAT WE HAD TO DO TO GET BACK TO TYBEE AND SWAM WITHOUT INCIDENT THANK GOD BUT FROM WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT BULLSHARKS LIKING TO HANG OUT IN THE MOUTHS OF RIVERS GOING TO THE OCEAN I NEVER WOULD HAVE TRIED IT BUT THAT WAS PROBABLY CLOSE TO ABOUT 30+ YRS AGO AND WHEN YOUR YOUNG YOU DO FOOLISH THINGS.
I went to a pirate fest once it was really cool my only complaint was there weren’t enough sea shanty’s! But in all honesty it was really fun and I would love to go to one agian
I miss this place I haven’t been in a couple of years but the last time I went it was fun the beach are nice and there’s plenty of places to eat when I went some of my favorites were light house pizza sundae cafe and the crab shack!
Wow! That ship is HUGE. Missing North Beach right now. Here is an amazing guide I used when my sister and I visited last June. visittybee.com/article/north-beach
We lived on Tybee 40 years ago and would occasionally take my canoe to Little Tybee. The tides can get you into trouble so go there only with an experienced person. There were thousands of egrets, herons roosting in the interior, shrimp and fish in the tidal creeks if you had a cast net. Secluded beach for nude sunbathing. Like going back hundreds of years!
@@TheDcrocks1 because when you leave Tybee island from the south side you battle the incoming tide to leave from Tybee island and make it to Little tybee. Plus add in camping gear an inexperienced person with you in the canoe plus having to turn your bow to incoming wake from dozens of boats zooming by you because it's memorial day weekend it gets pretty tiring.
@@TheDcrocks1 coming from that side of Tybee an incoming tide is not helpful in reaching Little Tybee. Not sure where you're from but I'm a local so trust me on that.
@@coastdweller i misinterpret your comment. I thought you where coming back to tybee island From little tybee. I've been to tybee island before. Tybee has a insane reputation for kayak surfing and playing in the rough water.
...And home to one of the biggest Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnakes I've ever seen in my life! Went there a few years back and encountered a diamondback that was at least 6ft. Promptly let him have the island and left.
