Look at the pic. The native peoples hugely supported Biden’s efforts. It’s important that all stakeholders, especially those living there as First Nation descendants, be fully represented. In the past they were ignored, it’s time for all to be included.
Always disappointing that indigenous people still have to fight white people for reasonable land control in 2024. Plain embarrassing to see white republicans disputing the spiritual claims about the land from indigenous people, only because it will impact their present income. If the greed of the anti land regulation people let the mines leech radiation into the water, they will have no income.
your single best source for Dominguez-Escalante is Utah Historical Quarterly, V18 Pagent in the Winderness. Uses their diaries. Two excellent maps. They did have guides. Some left. But their info is what led D-E to the Colo Rv
When the Uranium Frenzy began there were no laws protecting miners. No venting. no nothing. When you walked into one of these mines you walked out dead. Imagine breathing Uranium Radon Dust. It was a death sentence. I've forgotten when regulations began, somewhere around 1970. But by then many thousands (mostly the ancient white guys) were dead. And the Only thing allowing You to walk around these BLM lands are the cows. When cows are outlawed then will you be banned from lands all over the US. True
If the Canadian company is allowed to continue mining uranium near the Grand canyon if it goes into the water won't that affect the water that comes down to us as drinking water as in to the reservations, to the valley of the Sun as in Phoenix and other cities here as well as Utah, California, New Mexico and Mexico.? If it does thank AZ and those other stuff area won't have any water and will all become worse than just deserts. That needed to be stopped as in don't let the water get polluted move the mining where it won't be a hazard or stop them totally from mining it anymore.
Keep Canada out of the U.S. Imo most of the "Canadian" shell corps are fronts for the British Royal Family while the current King and his son, the Prince of Wales claim to be environmentalists. The UK itself is incredibly polluted especially being a large island.
I am all for protecting as much of these beautiful lands as possible and the cattle are extremely destructive, but utilizing a little more common sense. Ultimately it is shameless to see Biden put his name on this Monument and no other sign that I have seen has a prior presidency doing so.
I think you might mistaken, as the names of the monuments do not have his name on them, if you look them up. I think the painted sign in the video might have been just to celebrate the occasion, as the multicolored signs would be too expensive to maintain , and look kind of temporary compared to the normal government recreational signage. I'll check when I tour the area.
Romancing the historical past will not change the truth that their own extreme violence led to the reason why they never reached a level of an organized society. They were not ready for the future. They were never ready to be an united organization. Religion and superstition ruled these societies just like ancient theocracies preventing progress because of religion.
You seem to hate the idea of "religions" and superstitions. I think however, that beyond the various common Organized Religions (Christian, Muslim, and all others as well) - it has to be stated that another major Religion in Western Societies is Worship of the State and the ideals and teachings of that Long Dead European White Man, Karl Marx, in its various Forms. The Great Indian Civilizations of Mexico, Central America, and South America, were all "Organized Societies" - another few hundred years and just enough time and exposure to European diseases would or might have given the populations of Indians in the America's immunity enough to grow and prosper and further organize enough to resist the Spanish Conquests. Diseases alone wiped out 85 to 90 Percent of the Indians living in the America's, according to many historians. Human Violence is prevalent and was prevalent in all societies of the Earth. The Europeans certainly were war like even though they were all highly organized societies by the time of Columbus, and the Spanish, claiming a great portion of the North and South American Continents for Spain.
I appreciate free speech in the comments on this channel. That’s why I allow all comments. Just remember that Native American history is dynamic and all tribes were treated differently. Despite some Native American tribes adopting peaceful approaches and complying with U.S. government demands, they often received smaller reservations due to several interrelated factors. As the U.S. expanded westward, there was intense pressure from settlers, miners, and railroads for land. The government often prioritized these demands over the agreements made with Native American tribes. The government often assigned reservations on land that was less desirable for agriculture, mining, or settlement. Tribes might receive smaller, less fertile areas, regardless of their peaceful compliance, because more valuable lands were reserved for settlers. We can’t just say it was because of barbarism alone. If a foreign nation came to my town demanding compliance, I would fight to preserve my way of life with absolute barbarity. Natives Americans are just like the Americans of 1776 and literally have the same views as we did of Great Britain imposing their rule upon US.
@@DesertRatExploration to give further insight into those times of the times of the buffalo hunt and westward expansion , I quote from " buffalo bill's" autobiography, , " if I had a dispute with a Darky, I would often take the time to straighten them out, with a redskin, I would just shoot them.
I keep hearing that the glen canyon dam will be dismantled. Do you know anything about that? I love lake powell and would be devastated if that happened.
The Glen Canyon Dam isn’t going anywhere, at least for now. The only time the government will take action on the dismantlement of Glen Canyon Dam is if the reservoir hit deadpool and stayed there for years. They legally have to send water to the lower basin (Lake Mead/Hoover Dam) and if they (Upper Basin States/Lake Powell) can’t meet their obligations of sending that water downstream, the upper basin has to legally stop using water. It’s written within the Colorado Compact in this way. The government will impose harsh restrictions before this happens (Tear 2B, or Tear 3 restrictions). But here is the catch tier restrictions only happen when Lake Mead reaches certain levels of elevation on the back side of Hoover Dam, which are Full Pool Lake Mead (Above Sea Level) 1,219' Tier 0 - Above 1,090' Tier 1 - Above 1,075' Tier 2 - Above 1,050' Tier 2b - Above 1,045' Tier 3 - Above 1,025' These rules were written in mind with an over-allocated water supply due to limited water data and unusually wet years in the early 1900s.
There's a whole "Tear all the dams down!" cult among the Sierra Club types. They keep trying to drum up political support for the idea. When you ask them how they will replace all the clean electricity and fresh water, you either get 1) a deer in the headlights look, or 2) a rant that no one should be living in the desert, and you all need to leave.
The reality is under Trump everything will be for sale. He already had lobbyists from oil and mineral companies write up his first executive orders. I think what Biden did was a good thing. We need to preserve all the land that we can right now. And the Natives should be at the table. They'll monitor the lands better than the Government.
@@DesertRatExploration yup We just try to do the right thing. Not mad at Trump or anyone. Hope they do actual preserve our lands. Everything shouldn't be for sale. You know? What will we pass to our children and grandchildren. I'm sure there's a catch will anything government approved but hopefully it's not left up to corporate powers. They only care for their timelines and money. And I'm by no means saying the Biden admin is righteous. Lol And I don't want to see the cattle industry attacked either. So.
as opposed to biden sending all our tax dollars to ukraine and israel while our production goes to china... at least trump is pushing for national industry and not starting foreign wars
@@UEE-kj6ek you are championing a criminal authoritarian who cares more about himself than his country. Thousand gave their lives so that I might be free from authoritarian rule, but you don't care.
You skipped the part about dt leasing the public lands to oil and mining with no accountability and Biden had to reverse it. The damage done in those few years might be irreversible. He opened up public lands for drilling and the companies exploited the lands for 2 years, before they backed out and filled up the unlined reservoirs and mines with toxic waste and then caved it all in, leaving the poisons to leak into the groundwater and rivers, like the Mississippi, Ohio, and Missouri rivers and rivers throughout the Native Reservations of Utah, Idaho, Colorado, West Virginia, California, Oklahoma, and especially Wyoming and Texas. Our lands are worth more than what they can be exploited for! If the mountains, rivers, bees, and fish die, so do we.
Absolutely, you’re not wrong. That can be a whole video of in itself. The Uintah Basin is a great example. Thank you for adding your comment. I appreciate all comments.
@@Lora-G I’m in the right place now. Show me anything that he’s touched, ESPECIALLY HIS CHILDREN, that hasn’t turned to crap. His own son referred to him as “pedo pete”. Maybe you should look into his ‘88 presidential run. Eviscerated by the MSM before they were bought and paid for, or threatened, or both.
@@UEE-kj6ek have you ever experienced an all powerful authoritarian government? or have you just heard the propaganda of how great it is. Believe me, from my personal experiences , you wouldn't like it. freedom is never easy in a world where money talks. Stopping Russian , or more properly, Putin's plan to eliminate citizen rule in Europe is cheaper in Ukraine than world wide, like what happened with fighting WW2 dictators before.
In my opinion, nothing does more damage to the land than the ranching industry. On my last trip to Glen Canyon, the area was heavily signed "no off road travel", but the land was trashed by cattle. Just shows how strong the lobbyists for the ranching industry are.
Edward Abbey wrote a good article about this issue. Here’s a quote and I’ll leave a link to the article. He called it “Cowburnt”. “Almost anywhere and everywhere you go in the American West you find hordes of these ugly, clumsy, stupid, bawling, stinking, fly-covered, s@$&-smeared, disease-spreading brutes. They are a pest and a plague. They pollute our springs and streams and rivers.” harpers.org/archive/2015/02/cowburnt/
@@jmcvideodrones We didn't get rid of the Bison, there are areas where they still roam. The biggest difference is Bison roamed areas they were natural to and the environment could sustain them. Cattle were introduced to some areas that can hardly sustain them, with environmental consequences such as constant over grazing.
I did not see any. You’re going to have to do what the car did in the video and get that momentum or risk going in deeper sand. With the weight of your bike and gear I’m not sure. Obviously lightweight bikes can handle it. It’s just that deep sand which will cause you problems.
Interesting video. I was waiting for you to circle back to the result of the mining lobby lawsuit against FEDGOV from the Obama moratorium. I'm curious how EF was able to get their grandfather clause. Great work, love to see you doing projects you enjoy.
Disclaimer. I was wrong about the transportation of Uranium to White Mesa Mill in Utah. The mine is producing ore but transportation has not been established. There are issues with transportation through Flagstaff and a road through private property.
Very interesting and informative, DR 👍 So many parties seem to have their fingers in the pie. The environment will end up the loser, as always, and the lawyers will end up as the winners. As always. Thanks for putting this together. I've learnt something.
It’s definitely a situation surrounding the Grand Canyon. Uranium was the deal breaker here. Tribes don’t want it but it’s the richest deposits on those lands. I wanted to educate the public on a not so know subject.
@@DesertRatExplorationWell, I learnt something. Yeah, in the fifties the uranium guys were everywhere. There was a small mill up at the mouth of White Canyon opposite Hite (the original Hite). I doubt the finings were removed before the reservoir came up in '64 and now they're buried under 120 feet of sediment. On Google Earth, you can see the grids laid out as they methodically searched for the radioactive 'gold' above North Wash. From this video it's obvious they were looking in the wrong place. Keep 'em coming 👍
