Thanks for the great history… I remember when this ferry was in service in the 90s

I haven't been out there before but I'm considering a seasonal position out at Halls Crossing this year, I'd be curious to know if you have anything to share about the area or your experiences/stories! I really appreciated the video of the area, gorgeous landscapes and even some shots of where I'd be employed!

It would be a good experience. The solitude is nice out there. Lots of history and hiking.

Rented a 36 ft. houseboat from Wahweap in 83 and a 52 fter towing a ski boat from Halls in 87. took the ferry to Bullfrog to spend the night. you could drive the boat right up to rainbow bridge in those days. beautiful place, but it seemed the water didn't really belong there. still doesn't. My wife wants her ashes scattered on the lake when she dies.

We were there (Bullfrog) last year, and we saved water by drinking beer instead! The water level rose by a foot in that week!

sitting down the cliff where the marina sits still looks like it does way higher pool level, they have moved the fuel dock way over to the next cove, but unlike bullfrog, still looks alot the same, thank for the views!!!

Yeah, since Halls is in the main channel they have a little wiggle room compared to Bullfrog. Thanks for the comment and thank you for watching.

Powell has risen 12 inches in the past 48 hours - that's a lot of water coming in. It will interesting to see how much is allocated to the upstream reservoirs before they open the flood gates down to Powell. The first concession for a ferry at Halls was granted to Frank Wright, a long time river runner and guide, in 1963. It was a simple aluminium-hulled craft, with an outboard, that could handle two cars or one trailer at a time. He was one of the 'We Three' gang that included Katie Lee (folk singer and activist) and Tad Nichols (photographer).

Hopefully, a good spring run off from the CO river basin...plus shut off the spigot to CA. They guzzle the reservoirs dry. My first houseboat rental with my family in 1967. I bought a bigger boat then shore camped. Padre Bay my best spot. The boys grew up so no more Powell after the late 90's...great memories but you can't develop more and more downstream without consequences

Can yo even camp on the water at lone rock?
@DesertRatExploration

You can but it would be with 4X4 vehicle or dreadfully walk your stuff to the water but I would disprove of that heavily.

Really disappointing to see cow shit in delicate native ruins.

Yeah, it’s infuriating. The ranchers I get have a right to graze, but what would happen to me if I took a poop in those ruins. Heavy fines an arrest.
