Awesome cover, there are only four muscians here on the tube, "Taka Honda guitar, Michael Sokil, Sam Popkin and the dude who lends Sokil period correct Guitars cant remember his name?? Stan something??? Those guys are unstoppable with their accuracy when it comes to Beatle and Badfinger covers, absolutely untouchable. The four of you guys need to make a video together jamming some Beatles and Badfinger tunes. That would be EPIC!!!!

ALSO: thanks again, not just for the accuracy of the solos in this song, but for the near-perfect guitar tones, and for ALL the guitar details for the entire song. Even when George and John are playing (relatively) simply, it translates to Beatles-magic! It's utterly mysterious, and for me, has fueled a life-long obsession to understand and recreate. I love that you redid this with the Gibson and with input from Michael Sokil. I always love your detailed notes/minutiae about the performances, and I pour every detail. I've always thought that what you, Sokil, Stanley, Pachelli, mattiboo, and Ably House (RIP) do is pretty niche. But we Beatle-obsessive musicians are grateful! Thanks Sam!
It always seems that the toughest part of doing Beatles covers is getting John's distinctive strumming down correctly. So many of the cover versions just strum up and down. John put accents in his strumming, which makes it swing and I notice you put great effort in trying to get it right. Good job!
100% this - Sam manages to capture JL’s extremely unique patterns with a nuance nobody else does. It must take an awful lot of effort, patience, and talent to do it so well.
George Harrison's quote that he and John Lennon played twin lead guitars is mostly mistaken for the fact that they played in unison. What he meant was that Lennon played in the verses and he played the solo, as stated on the Beatles' website. You also don't have to listen closely that there is only one guitar at at time.
This week has been insane for me recently. I got verbally bullied and get called names in huge amounts for the past 3 days and having to deal of 4 different girls who blocked me on Insta on top of that. Also I went thru one of my first ever friendship breakups and it was so tough, and she used to be nice to me but now currently she's acting pretty mean to me and doesn't want any direct contact from me. This is what I exactly needed. I was in tears trying to handle all of this as a mentally feeble teenager male. I don't know if i'm that motivated enough to play the Beatles riffs on guitar anymore and it would be appreciated if you offer support during emotional times. Amazing job and god bless you Sam!
Totally nailed it. Guitar tones are spot on. I’m always taken with how different Gibson acoustics sound from Martins. I think my Martins might need a new little brother soon.
You nailed the almost phaser-like quality of the lead guitars! Also, how many attempts did it take to get the right amount of treble? And you once again nailed the acoustic tone, something that so many people overlook! Their early work would sound nowhere near as good if it wasn’t for those J-160E’s. May I request Devil in Her Heart? It has some incredible guitar work which foreshadowed the jangle-pop that would dominate their sound the following year.

Absolutely incredible, Sam! I’ve always found it hard to replicate the lead guitar tone(s) because of the trebly but almost “coily” and “bassy” sound Edit: I never realized this was a remake!
From my perspective as a Beatles freak since 1965 and guitarist since the early 70s, my ears---and almost 60 years of obsessive listening--tells me this is EXACTLY correct. No one on RU-vid does George's and John's solos like this. The subtle differences in what they're doing blows me away. Grateful for you showing us, in the exacting way you always do!
On the original stereo mix, there’s all sorts of cool anomalies buried in the left channel. Some of them were digitally “removed” when remastered for the mono CD box, though. For example, in the intro, you can hear what I assume is John’s Strat in the left channel. Like he was trying to find the notes. On the 2009 CD, the left channel is silenced in the intro.
@@Nobody_Important_Yea I’m generally open to remixes… It’s always nice to have a fresh, new experience with music you’ve loved for a long time. But the magic is in the originals.
