The moon shade website shows the upright poles to be the same size on the XL as the standard moonshade. Is this not true?

Dang, the main reason I am looking at one of these is rain protection. I swear this year I have not been able to go camping (I have a car set up, as do my two favorite camping buddies) without spending a couple of hours a day in the car waiting for the rain to stop. Spent two days in the Bighorns last week that included a 3 hour rain storm as well as an early night because the rain started around 8:30 PM and I just gave up and went to bed. Would love to have a shelter that 3-4 of us could hang out in till the rain passed, instead of each of us holed up in our car. I think I'm going to check out the shelter you mentioned having before you bought this one! Only thing is, I would also like something I can easily set up on my own, because I also camp solo. Would be nice to have it close to the door of my car that I get out of, for dressing etc. The search continues! Thank you for your honest review. You saved me some money for sure because this fails at the primary reason I want to buy one. Edit: I see some have waterproofed it themselves. At this price point, I don't want to have to fix the darned thing before I can use it. They're currently running about $400 give or take and essentially do 1 of the 3 things I am looking for. Nah.

Lots of ideas. I like the single bed set up - that will be ideal for me still leave room for my Lab on the fooor. If I buy one next week, I will research bed options

I live in Traverse City and I’m heading down to Hiker Trailers this coming week to potentially buy one! Thank you for your very helpful videos. I will definitely visit this campground on the Leelanau Peninsula. I like the 270 awning. I will ask the folks at Hiker HQ how much weigh it adds. I need to keep the overall weight down.

As a Florida native, there are only about 3 comfortable camping months a year. That's why I quit camping when I was younger. Now, my husband and I want to start again with our young grandkids. This unit is out of my budget, but if it helps you and your family make memories, it's worth it.

This is awesome! I’d totally use AC if it’d get my wife out of the house. We mainly need it for nighttime or spot cooling. Keeping a low profile is more important to me than cooling the vehicle all day. This seems like a great fit for our compact conversion, considering we only have a 200Ah battery and 400W solar.

I would like to see a smaller, cheaper unit and campers with better insulation. The two go together. Also, you need a relatively large amount of solar for a tiny camper to charge those batteries. And what about cloudy days? I see these kinds of things as for sites with AC not for boondocking where you need solar for other things, too. BTW, I think you could make the cabin of the camper with foam panel covered with aluminum instead of plywood covered with aluminum to get a higher R value. Manufacturing costs would go up, though, because assembly would require more technical expertise than drilling for pocket screws.

Thanks for the review! Basically similar results as the Wave2, give or take a couple of degrees. The main advantage, IMO, would be the increased battery life.... Gosh, I do wish that Climate Right wasn't so heavy.....main reason to have tried the Wave2....

Awesome meal these bacon wrapped pork fillet’s are our go to meal for camping. I might have a freezer full of them for just those trips. They are awesome smoked also. I was going to try the famous Wendy Dewitt breakfast boats on a camping trip till we saw another camper with a blackstone making grilled breakfast burritos and could smell them… that was it I had to have a blackstone and make breakfast burritos which we have now. Windy and rain I hear that a Dewitt camping trip!

I just got back from Cape San Blas on Florida’s Forgotten Coast for three days at the state park. Temps were 90° plus with obvious high humidity and I ran my Ecoflow Wave 2. The sites have no shade because of a hurricane that hit a couple of years ago I believe. I bought an aluminet shade tarp doubled up on the top of the trailer. I have a 270 awning on the passenger side and a Kelty High Roads on the driver side to house the wave 2. My wave 2 has a 3D printed attachment that allows the use of the rv sewer hookups to adapt to the front vents on the Hiker. Initially I could only use one vent, but before this trip I bought a “y” adapter that now allows me to hook to both vents. Even with this set up, it had to stay on max during the day and was not very comfortable (low 80s but less humid), however it was much better than the same trip in early June (same temps, no aluminet/one vent). Overnight, it wasn’t an issue but it definitely needs shore power in those temps to run max mode. For me, the wave 2 isn’t perfect but it does the job in excessive heat overnight and maybe to ride out a storm for an hour or so but honestly I’m not looking to be in the Hiker much during the day anyway except for an occasional siesta. Really, I think I just need to re-evaluate where I camp from mid June thru Labor Day 😊.

Sounds like you are adapting and finding items to make your camping more tolerable - but finding somewhere further North in the heat of the summer might be your best bet :-)

@@MWDAdventures yeah, the beach is always my summer default getaway and with a 3 day slot opening up and teacher workdays starting Thursday I couldn’t pass it up. I’m really looking forward to the fall and trying to get over into the mountains in North Georgia or Eastern Tennessee about 3-4 hours from where I live. I really like the Kelty Highroads for a side shelter. It is easy to setup and very versatile. I initially got it to cover my 23zero shower/bathroom but it can be used much like the moonshade wherever it is needed.

Hey yall! So, we are on the wait for the MK III. (Yes pricy) but after filling the season with a $120 window unit through the pass through were left with some questions...- no remote, so we would need to exit the HT to adjust. Not rain proof. Would need a cover and a Maxx fan type setup so it can breathe and stay dry. Theft. Vs window - with walls, back galley is rain proof. Able to adjust while inside. --- when we get the MK III we will definitely run it through testing vs the window unit. It's paid for so cost isn't an option. So the question is, is the window is more functional with the weight and storage of the window unit vs. the light and compact of the MK III Thoughts?

My wife tried the Geyser at Overland Expo in Loveland, CO last year and loved it. We are on our 3rd Hottap and so far have had only one hot shower. The solenoids die fast. We lost confidence in it and will soon return it for a refund. We want the heated model Geyser so as I drive it is heating up. Lame to use the vehicle while idling to heat it, poor planning. There are also power stations available as a house battery. You can use the heating model with hot water from a stove instead of running the engine! It is duel use. Also, if you have a vacuum it will stress the pump and kill it. Reviewers on RU-vid stated that well before this review was launched. His concern about sponges is silly. We've been using them with the Hottap and they last years each. Like any other sponge, just rinse and dry. I wonder if he ever does dishes! The reviewer created his own problems.

Thanks for the video very informative. I had a couple of quick questions. Would this tent be suitable for two people and two oversized single carts with the small table like 3 ft.² and storage for clothes etc. I’m 6 foot tall and I know the height should be plenty but I wonder if the width which I guess is about 8‘ x 8‘ would be enough room. Normally, I hear you should at least double the size of the tent for the number of people.we also have a 12 dog so need to have space for her small bed.. thanks in advance.. also some concern about a spot to put wet shoes etc since there is no awning?
