I like the concept of the first shot punctures the co2 cartridge. I assume that much like fire extinguishers, once partially used, toss it and replace with a fresh co2 cartridge? I have had c02 BB rifles in the past, in colder weather it was not reliable for many shots at all before the cartridge would fail - does this have the same characteristics ? (below 32f) Are there age restrictions for this? Is a purchase permit required in MI ? Looks promising for those that choose the non-CPL route
I think the topic of safety is a very important one.. Along with weapons, be it this device, a rock, or slingshot, or a 45, there also implied LIABILITY . that goes along with it that needs to be understood.. sorry, my 2 cents..maybe a good campground discussion , if we have any defense attorneys in the group.. cheers, thanks for the review..
It’s a sad state of affairs when we all understand the potential hazards that 4-legged animals and slithering ones can present, but now we have a very real threat coming from 2-legged animals.
Nice that they offer a biodegradable training round. As with any firearm practice, practice, practice. Not sure if I would choose this for 4 legged threats vs bear spray as accuracy under duress is challenging.
I have but one question…… do you really want to bring a toy to a gun fight when your life or a family members life is on the line???? I’m Retired Sheriff K9 Sgt, SWAT sniper and I sure won’t be trusting a toy.!!!!!!
Taking into consideration some peoples hesitancy around firearms, and the legality of being able to carry in all 50 states I can see this a valid option for some.
I love a non-lethal option. Some people will never feel comfortable with fire arms. However, there are things to consider, like would there be time to get another weapon in play if this wasn't effective?
Wasp spray is always an option for the house. It has a long range and placed at the main doors, no one will think twice about it sitting there. Or Pepper spray but it affects people differently and some people it has little to know affect on them. Eyes are the best place aim at, to blind them so you can get away and call for help. or a tactical advantage to use other weapons if needed.
Yeah, I would never shoot something at someone I thought could kill them. It just wouldn't happen. The internal philosophical discussion would go on far too long to save anyone's life. The Byrna makes far more sense for me. I have been intrigued by them ever since I heard about them. Thanks for doing a review.
I'm glad you thought this through for yourself, Cheryl. It was a discussion my wife and I had many years ago. It is better to have *any* tool for defense than no tool. Stay safe!
There are violent crimes against innocent people committed in every country in the world. In the U.S., we have the right to be prepared and to defend ourselves.
I have to agree with OGGenx65 here. This is not an American problem; it is a human problem. Wherever there are humans some will be predators. And predators prefer to prey on the weak. Don't be weak.
