Yes, boiled with water the leaves and broth are a hearty meal plus rich in minerals. The Stinging Nettle Pesto is quite tasty if you're feeling adventurous.

@Lifesongadventuressurvivalcamp I hesr ya. The title just makes you think there would be a little more to it. Maybe a little cut of it in use and some info on the type of wood. Good luck going forward with the content.
@@IvarTheBoneless13 Good point especially having to do with the wood used for both the spindle and fireboard. I'm using Black Cottonwood (Populus balsamifera), a native tree to Oregon and other areas of the US. In my blog post "The Best Bow Drill Woods" check it out - lifesongadventures.com/2022/07/best-bow-drill-woods/ I cover Cottonwood and other woods that work well for the bow drill. Thanks again for your feedback!

Teamwork, survival challenge, problem solving, and team building. These are the integral parts of a team challenge event we facilitated for Quantum Health based in Eugene, Oregon. Watch as team members are up to the task with can-do-attitudes and working together complete a team building challenge we facilitated. As you can see in the video each team is provided with a friction method of making a campfire. Their success in this challenge required team members to work and communicate well together as a group to complete this challenging task. The challenge is demanding, the temperature is falling, a cold night is approaching. The team members are told that only a campfire will save them. No fire means Frostbite! With no other way to make fire each team must rely on their ingenuity, teamwork, critical thinking skills, to be successful. They must create smoke without matches with the system provided if they are to survive the night. Did they meet their challenge? Watch this short video to find out. Are you looking for a company to facilitate your group in team building, group communication, and problem solving? We are available to help you reach your goals. Group challenges are fun, interesting, dynamic, and bonding for your employees. Feel free to reach out to us for your team challenge needs.
Cold Water Immersion Therapy to reduce muscle soreness. As a sometime cold-water therapy enthusiast, I enjoy freezing water immersion to temporarily reduce muscle soreness and joint pain after long hikes and hard exercise. According to studies on the effects of cold-water therapy in humans. Submerging one’s body at temperatures of 59F or colder offer the best results for temporary relief of inflamed muscles and joints. With repeated exposure to chilly water the body may become used to it and reduce the cold shock response of the body. The quick intake of breath as an example. And the ability to stay in icy water for longer periods. I have found this to be true in my own training. Other Benefits of Cold water Therapy Ongoing studies suggest that benefits of fully immersing the body in icy water can, • decrease inflammation • improved mood and cognition • improved metabolic health Other evidence suggests that cold exposure also supports cardiovascular, immune, and neurocognitive health. Need tips and techniques on entering icy water? leave a question for me in the comments section and I would be happy to help. lifesongadventures.com/2022/06/cold-water-immersion-therapy/

Hi Mike, thank you for your question. No, we did not have success with using a Fatwood fire board as was expected. However, It probably could be done under the right circumstances. Have you given it a shot yet?
Unlike cows (two stomachs), beavers cannot digest cellulose. Therefore, they eat the cellulose (wood bark), mix it with their gut bacteria and then defecate it. The bacteria from the beaver's gut break down the cellulose into useful carbs over time. The beaver then returns and consumes the partially digested food which is now edible. That's why they always leave their droppings in the water, Their bacteria are anerobic and would not survive long out of the water.
