There is a lot of good riding in central Texas. I live northwest of Austin and love riding in the Hill country. We travel to Colorado almost every year and it’s beautiful but Texas has its own charm with some of its small towns and such.
Happy to hear from you! Thought of you the other day when I went by Devil’s Backbone! Went through all the videos I hadn’t watched after that. Hope to see more from Texas and Oklahoma. If you’re interested in venturing out to Arkansas, the area around Rogers and Eureka Springs is incredible and would definitely be a fun video!
You should link up with QuasiMotard. He is down in Houston areaof Texas, but rides everywhere in US on small scooters. Soon another scooterist from Romania is joining QuasiMotard for the upcoming annual Scooter Cannonball coast-to-coast ride.
Welcome back, I've missed you and was wondering what your status was.My other favorite Vespa guy Bug sold his scooter and is just another motorcycle guy now. Glad you're still making a few videos. I bought my 2023 GTS 300 because of your videos. Hope your move goes smoothly.
"It's purdy"? You gonna fit right in. Hoping the best for your wife, as moving and building homes really messes with their emotions. Got any historical markers/places for making a video? Good to see you again and that ride looks great......
taking the tour twice and not ditching or crasch the Vespa like to be seen in manyother film from other two wheelers as they af so fantastic to do, and giving their stupid excuses!
if you are tall forget Vespas, they are built for small people up to max 170 cm if any….i am 180cm and hit my knees….no thanks, most bikes are too small for me anyways….so firget vespas if you are tall…
I'm about 188cm. (used to be 6'3", probably more like 6'2" now with age and back injuries). Pants inseam ~89cm (34"-36") inches, depending on the brand/cut. The large frame Vespa is ridable with no issues for me. 🤷♂️
Over here in the UK I had heard of the TOTD and I have watched a few videos featuring since. Isn't there a tree where they hang bike parts that have been damaged at the Cafe you went to. I don't think you put yourself to shame on your Vespa in the speed you were doing but I do think those that passed you took some unnecessary risks. Great to see all the sensible people out there enjoying using their vehicles.
Ah yes, “The Tree of Shame”. I didn’t mention it but you can see it as I ride by at 5:56. Thankfully, I didn’t hang any Vespa parts! Thanks for watching and take care over there in the UK. 👍
Thank you for a great video. I currently ride a BMW GS but after watching this and given I am 73 I could be tempted to now buy a Vespa. You have gained another Sub.
It probably depends on the country. I believe that in the US self-service is legally protected as long as you are using the factory recommended fluids, parts, etc. in this case, I’m less concerned about the warranty. I’d rather do the work myself and know how it was done.
My brand new moped wobbles have to junk that moped wont be able to resell to someone else. Also pulls to the right Amigo 2022 50cc. A girl with less strength cant sustain wobbles. Hope that the shop can fix that but if not is another moped.
I almost never ride at night. My eyes are above the top of the windshield so most of the time I’m not looking through it. The camera is mounted on the chin bar of my helmet so the perspective is quite a bit lower than what I see.
I rode it this past Sunday 07/21/2024. The new surface was nice. I had a small red SUV meet me in a curve on my side of the road, it was a little hairy. We did it early afternoon and there was little traffic.
Greetings to all Vespa lovers and to those who want to become Vespa lovers from Germany. You described it beautifully in your video and I can only confirm that. In Germany the situation is similar, many scooter riders are just smiled at by motorcyclists, but in Germany it's a bit different with scooters. Here there are scooters and there are Vespas... A scooter is usually a cheap means of transportation that is used for all smaller trips. A Vespa is something completely different, a Vespa is an attitude to life, an icon among scooters. A Vespa is beautiful to look at, it slows you down and gives you pleasure. The advantage of a Vespa is that almost everyone can find a comfortable seat on it, whether big or small, it is the all-purpose weapon among scooters. A Vespa needs to be stroked by people who also know how to tinker with it, as it is not perfect, but a diva that can be a bit of a bitch. I myself have ridden many motorcycles and three years ago I bought and restored a Vespa ET4 125. Until recently I also owned a BMW F650GS Twin 800cc, which I swapped for a Vespa GTS 300 Super and I think I did exactly the right thing. I love this machine, the powerful acceleration of the 22 hp engine up to 80 km/h. Above 100 km/h it gets a bit tough, but that's not what you want to do with a Vespa anyway. So Joe, buy one of these and enjoy every second. And if you are unsure, see if you can borrow one to try it out. It's not for everyone, but once you've taken a liking to it, it's like an addiction. Greetings Stephan
I don't think that I would fancy that some how - too many nutters! It amused me how the white car in front of you was doing racing gear changes with you staying on behind - must have really teed him off!
Hello, great video, as always. I wanted to make a comment about changing the oil in your engine. Why don't you use a large syringe to which you attach a small rubber tube so that it can easily enter the loading hole? You could easily calculate the amount of oil to introduce into the engine and work less to fill the oil sump
This could work quite nicely. This was my first time working on a Vespa, so you got to see me try to figure things out as I go. Also, I’m not a mechanic, but posting stuff like this on RU-vid for all to see and comment on gives people who have more experience or better ideas an opportunity to share them. 👍😉
a piece of the Italian spirit in your beautiful country. Vespa is not a scooter but a philosophy of life and you have interpreted it best. your videos and travels are beautiful. Greetings from the homeland of the Vespa, that is, Italy
Best wishes for your new adventures in Texas. My understanding is it is the only place you can stand in mud up to your knees with sand blowing in your face. Heard that from my father from his days at Fort Hood in the 50s.
Thank you very much. I have family that was there then too. Your father and my grandfather may have crossed paths… Hope to be making videos again but it may be a little while as there move is taking some time.
I'm pretty sure when checking the oil you don't screw it back in , you unscrew wipe and dont screw it in to check , that's probably why you think the factory has put to much oil in !
This is beautiful! Trying to figure out if this Yosemite or somewhere just as beautiful as. 👏🏻 great way to show the video! Also is that a 150 or a 50? Im thinking about getting one but I’m not the most coordinated person, but I’m more and more convinced I need one!
This was one of the routes at the ADVFest in South Dakota last summer. I think that most of these were public right of way, but there may have been some sections that were private, but being ridden with permission. I can’t remember for sure. You might be able to find the maps online.
Don’t know. You can change out the rollers for different weights to adjust for faster acceleration but lower top speed or vice versa (to a point). modernvespa.com/forum/topic147219 I also don’t know if there is an electronic governor that would limit top speed. I should probably know this, but I can’t remember. Keep in mind that I am riding at or above 5,000 feet elevation so your results closer to sea level might be different.
I'm a bit like Joe. Nowadays I have an 883 that I love, but I can't stop trying out bikes to see which will be the next one. Classic Vespas have always caught my attention, but somehow I ignored the modern ones. Since I went into a Piaggio dealership to check out some Moto Guzzis, and of course, there were also Vespas, the 946 on display sparked something in me. Since then, I haven't stopped watching videos. I think the first one will be a Sprint 125; it seems more aesthetically faithful to the Vespas of yesteryear. Greetings from Spain, in this case, I suppose I'm more of a José or Pepe than a Joe? 😂
