My name is Chris and I’m a minimalist who bought a 2023 Can-Am Spyder RT Limited to replace my car and my two wheel motorcycle.
This channel chronicles my adventures using the Spyder as my only vehicle. We’ll go on great adventures as well as mundane errands. We’ll also discuss accessories and gear for the Spyder. I hope you’ll join me on this journey by subscribing to this channel.

The Spyder is incredibly smooth, and with cruise control on the highway, it tracks straight and is almost hands free. I feel safer than on a two wheel motorcycle, but there is inherent danger on the road.
Hi, my Spyder is F3 S so my low fuel light comes on at about 310 kms not sure how are it well go pass that point. So it took about 20.5 liter to fill. So when I fill I hold the nozzle down the lip of the fuel tank aboutv1 inch and watch it very closely so it does not over fill.
Border crossings don't bother me, except for the wait time as it can get rather hot. When i have to wait, i turn the engine off. When it's time to move, i simply disengage the parking brake and push the Spyder forward. At the booth, i use the kill switch and turn off the engine so that i can hear and interact properly with the border agent. It's just part of the ride for me. Cheers Chris!
I find it funny when people complain about being filmed when in fact you are literally on camera by someone or some entity the minute you walk out your front door.
@@SpyderMinimalist and I’m amazed by just how many cameras are out there from the ones in the parking lot of your local Walmart to your neighbors Ring door bell camera. This being said the police and public officials are the ones who need to be filmed the most to stop them from continually violating our constitutional rights. PS I really enjoy your channel even though you don’t ride a Harley lol
Thanks for such an interesting view of the falls We hope to attend Canada from the UK next year and would visit the falls. Being a Spyder Owner/Rider you showed us just how nice it is Thank you so much for sharing your ride with us Keep up your excellent videos Eddie Dorset UK
That is not true. You can't go in a gov't building in someone's office and start filming them. You can film in the public access areas of most gov't building, but not all.
Like I stated before spend the $50 USD / $80 CDN and get a nexus card and use the whirlpool bridge and wait 2 minutes to cross! Pass is good for 5 years, $10 per year! No brainer! Plus you get TSA pre, and global entry!
@@SpyderMinimalist yes public buildings are owned by the taxpayers, not just the public. There are certain things in public buildings that should not be allowed to be filmed due to security risks. Also I don’t think anyone should be allowed to deliberately film public who are in government buildings that are there conducting business. IMO. As a retired Senior Fire Marshal I have no issue with being filmed doing my job
I think security is the reason that they don’t want you to film. Some of the questions could be revealing to anybody who is trying to get into the country under false pretenses or things of that nature so I wouldn’t get too twisted up about it, but it would be nice to film, but I can understand their perspective from it as well. It’s like police department. You know they’ll film what they want to film butI don’t always film the body cam and release all of it. That’s part of the problem is they’re not in control of the editing.
I rode motorcycles starting with a minibike and lawnmower engine... blah, blah, blah. I have an awesomely fun touring F3L which I take camping and long tours. I was hit twice by younger folk in a rush not looking, You can die on this thing quite easily, it's just that most folks riding are older and more mature. The self induced foolishness is minimized.
We just visited Niagara Falls and thanks for the weather info. Wore short pants and short sleeve shirts the whole time. We, my wife and I had a great time. We spent a whole day on the Canada side. Our time on both sides was great! Leaving for home in Tennessee in the morning. Take care!
I am looking forward to the Ontario trip and watching you riding out at dusk and also in the coming colder months. I appreciate to will be quite a big thing for you without the car and just using the Spyder but I am sure you will be able to cope. Thanks for the Catskill trip the views are just awesome.
@@SpyderMinimalist Bummer on the K nines, if my dealer doesn't have the rear KNine, I'm buying the Vredestein. SpyderLovers members really promote this tire getting long miles.
A trip to FL, from upstate NY, that's a 3 day journey, unless you stop and smell the flowers, then 4 or so. Living in FL, the flat lands way different than you experience. I have UltraGuard half cover, for my 20 RTL, it works for me. Safe travels.
When I bought my Spyder in 2022, I also bought the CanAm full cover for it. I always cover my Spyder. I could see it was getting tired as it was thinning out. The other day, as I was putting on the cover, it ripped as I stretched it properly in place. I bought the UltraGard cover to replace it because the CanAm one is stupid expensive. Cheers Chris!
@@SpyderMinimalist ok, I will try that by adjusting the straps. I don't care for the way it squeezes the antenna up against the trunk. The overall fit is not as snug as the CanAm cover.
I opted for the Ultra Guard half cover for my travels, mostly wanting to conserve a little space. And I'm happy with it, though two things I'll mention for those who are thinking about one: One, rain beads up really well, except where the cover is touching something...like the trunk or the windshield. Water gets through when that happens so those things and the inside of the cover get wet. Probably true for the full size and the half size. Two, the cover needs some help to stay on when it is really windy. So I've got straps that I'll add, either over the front edge of the trunk (but behind the seat) and then through the rear hand grips; or around the windshield and below the handlebars. Full cover might handle the wind better.
@@michaelmcdonald9247 Thanks for that. If I run into something like that, I may use the under the seat hooks to secure the cover instead of the running boards.
I used my Ultra Guard half cover when I took my Spyder overnight to New Braunfels and parked it at my hotel. I also use it in the storage unit I keep my Spyder in that's just 5 minutes from my house.
The main reason I don’t wear shorts is because I’ve burned my leg on the hot exhaust pipe of a traditional bike. That doesn’t happen on a can am so for a quick trip in the city I’m more likely to not go inside to get long pants. Not for a 10 minute ride to pick something up. I have full gear but it’s not “necessary” every single ride.
Great video Chris. I lived in NY state as a young man. Never even heard of these falls before. I did grow up in the Saratoga region, so maybe that’s why.enjoying your channel.
I was also having problems with the seat shock. I simply decided to replace it. And since I was going to add the showchrome luggage rack on the trunk lid, I also replaced the trunk shock. Quick and easy fix, no problems since. Cheers Chris
I'm an auto medical insurance adjuster and I cant explain why but in my head a 2 wheeled motorcycle is a death machine but a 3 wheeled motorcycle with 2 wheels in the front is as safe as a minivan. lol
Both my seat and cargo shocks failed. We’re just shy of 2500 miles on my 22 spider :(. I found videos on how to install aftermarket shocks for both the seat and the rear cargo. Replaced them myself. The difference is night and day, these work very well… crossing my fingers they hold up as well as advertised.
When it comes to the Garmin (I have the XT2), I agree that it is wonky. What works for me now is to set up a route with intersection markers so that if I'm changing from one road to another, I can do so easily. Also, the more waypoints you create, the more flexible your routes are. In this video, you ran into what I did when you restarted a route - it tries to go back to where you started. Pick next waypoint or skip waypoint if you've passed it - play around with that in your neighborhood when you get back.
I use the mount that came with it, but I bought a stem that’s just a couple of inches longer than the one that came with it. I found the stem on Amazon.
I got over 22K miles on my first set of tires. My rear was worn, (not worn out) but my front tires still had lots of miles left. I just replaced all three before my latest 3500+ mile trip to be comfortable.
Siempre que monto mi Spyder llevo mi equipo de moto y además un chaleco airbag. Un golpe con un coche sería suficiente para arrastrar por el asfalto. Regards from Barcelona , Spain Europe
I ride in ECO mode all the time. I have found on highway at highway speeds my mileage sucks bad .. but with Spyder rides with groups of Spyders at 63 to 65 it seems like I can ride all day long with 200 mile till empty on my gauges.
the tire thing has been a complaint for a long time. I just replaced the rear tire on my ryker after 11k miles. They just have a bad wear pattern and become junk before they should be. It's still Kenda making the tires. They think by rebranding them people won't notice lol..
the previous generation RT ran from 2010-2019... the current f3 model has been mostly the same from 2015-current. Id say its unlikely that they will make many changes for 2026 on the RT
just had my 1st service which is just a visual and oil change, $163 and change. Told my wife it would probably be 4 to 500 because the kit is 150, love my local dealer. Second vehicle from them and the service is outstanding. Charleston SC area
Good video Chris. I am a bit surprised that you already have to change tire. As someone said, you might be slightly over inflated, in spite of you holding the recomended 28psi, if it wears in the middle it means you have inflation enough to cause the center to protrude more than the rest of the tar. 12000 miles for a tire is nothing. You may have already, but if you didnt, I would present yourself at the dealership and your videos and ask if you can not borrow bikes when you make your service to show on your channel, of cource with a big thank to the dealership. Like while you wait, you can make a walk through, yourself or with the sales guy of the Canyon models. Cheers from Sweden
